  1. What I do is label piece of paper with the number provided and slip it in one side of the flip and the coin in the other side. One coin per flip. It's worked out great. The I fold the flips and put em in a regular envelope and seal. And fold it up where they won't come open and slide it in a bubble wrap envelope. One that's a fairly tight fit so they won't come open and the coin doesn't slip out.
  2. Very good answer. I don't buy them to flip either. Can care less about making a profit or money or anything off them. I enjoy admiring them. I look at them every single day.
  3. That was very enjoyable reading Coinbuf. I love the older stuff also. I love the designs of the numbers on the old coins. Such as the 5 on a shield nickle. They put a little more fanciness into them back in the earlier days. I also love the older coins that the dies were carved by hand. They had more imperfections but that's what makes them special to me. Those engravers were amazing.
  4. I will collect anything because I love all coins. Washington quarters are my favorite and my main focus. I also am collecting for fun and into the history of coinage and minting processes. It is a good investment to have coins put back but my collection will never be sold as long as I'm alive. I'm more into the coins than I am the value of them.
  5. Here is a thread to be a little social with everyone. It can be useful to new collectors who read it to see why people collect and what they collect. So in less than 25 words, or if you need it a little more, why do you collect coins? Is it for investment, fun, etc.? Also what areas do you collect in? What's your category you mostly focus on? This should be fun to see everyone's replies and help us socialize a little with each other. After I post this I will post a separate post on why I do.
  6. Seems there are quite a few counterfeites of those out there.
  7. It's a fake. Or it looks to me like it is. Pretty sure I'm right. Looks nothing like the real ones I've seen. And a bad fake at that.
  8. The 2019 and 2020 dimes seem to be covered in die chips. I've seen a pile of them. Seems like most are right on Roosevelt's forehead.
  9. Very nice Buffalo Head. I always love your pictures. Always got some sweet coins in them as well.
  10. Proof 65 with a CAC. The holder got a little scratch or two on it but I guess it will be ok.
  11. I'd say it doesn't help either that people are sending in common junk coins to have graded. Graders having to grade common cents that's only worth a dollar or less. Look at how many people post on the forum, "is it worth grading?" every day. Imagine how many of them are sending that junk in and pluging up the works.
  12. I think I've learned that the hard way.
  13. I'll probably ship it back and get my money back.
  14. I may make an album of just lessons learned coins. Maybe put a description under them and pass down to my kids. Maybe let them see my mistakes.
  15. Your definitely right. I got no one to blame but myself. It's my fault for not reading everything clearly. That's another expensive lesson but one I will never forget.
  16. So sorry for your loss. Hate to hear this. Will be praying for his friends and family
  17. I may try to. It's clearly a junk coin. I'll know better next time to read everything more carefully. With the coin in hand you can see all the high points flattened down and abridged. That's kinda false advertising. Send something like that.
  18. It could possibly be. It's got a haze on it to.
  19. What is the proper name for those flow lines that are caused by die erosion? Is it called Starburst? I tried to look it up but that's all I could find.
  20. Wouldn't that be cool. I'd sure like to find a box like that.
  21. Well I said I'd update you all when she came in. Took it a while but wasn't the sellers fault. USPS had it at 2 different facilities for seems like forever. She definitely don't look nothing like the picture. It was supposed to be brilliant uncirculated gem. It has definitely got some wear to it. Looks like the dies were wore pretty good to when it was struck. But I learned a lesson. Read the descriptions carefully and don't trust stock photos on older raw coins. This coin has definitely been circulated. The high points are wore down.
