  1. Yea. We ended up finishing. She left right after we got done for a while. My partner Ray brought us across the finish line. I only found a couple. He racked them up and fairly quick.
  2. I think I got 8 from the wild. In 2019 I was mostly working on modern coins. Before I started the silver GW collection. I put together 2 sets of the 2019. 1 in ms65 and one in ms66. All NGC. Then I have a spare 2019 Lowell in PCGS ms65. Then I have 3 of the 2020 in ms65. I need to complete that set one of these days. I quit working on them for a while. Hoping the prices would go down a little like the 2019s did. I cant remember which ones I need. Pretty sure Marsh Billings is one of them. Its been a while since Ive priced them.
  3. Great find JP. I was finding a few there for a while and then just hit a dry streak. Havent found any since @Lem E, @Sharann, Ray, and I all had our friendly competition.
  4. You can buy one in alot better shape than that already graded for less than it would cost you to send that one in.
  5. Very lovely addition. Absolutely stunning 1915 D. Most of these Ive seen have had lots of wear. One of the nicest examples ive seen.
  6. Thank you @GBrad. Im much of a collector like you. That was very well put. I cant wait to get my first gold coin. I dont care what kind, demonination, mint. country, or whatever. I just want to add a gold coin to the collection. Its just out of my budjet. To poor to buy one as of now. Im gonna keep faith and hold my head high and one of these days somehow im gonna add a gold coin to my collection. Hopefully its one of the gold indian heads. Love those. One of these days i will. Im still very happy though to be able to collect the less valuable coins. There are some very beautiful silver, clad, and copper coins out there that are affordable. Ive had a wonderful time trying to round them up.
  7. If you like to do alot of reading I recommend @RWBbook , "From Mine to Mint." It will give you a whole new kind of respect for the hobby. Makes you feel like your right there with the ol boys while they are striking coins. Be great reading material when you are snowed in. You can find it on Ebay at, " Wizard Coin Supply."
  8. Thank you my friend. Ive been looking at world coins for a long time. I was looking at a few and that one caught my eye. I liked the antique look it had from the toning. I always liked German coins also. I always thought when i started on world coins Id start with Germany. It was also within my budget.
  9. I got some cousins down in there close to you. Not exactly sure where. I know one is an hr west of Chattanooga and her dad lives more south. An hr from the ocean he claims. Not sure where the other 2 daughters are down there. They moved down there 25 years ago from Mansfield Ohio.
  10. Almost every rock you pick up here has some kind of fossil in it. Mostly small invertabrates and shells. You can have a great time fossil hunting in the creeks. Ive found a couple very large snail fossils big as my fist when I was younger. I cant remember whatever happened to them. Usually can find a few arrowheads in the creeks also.
  11. Same here. We can go an hr to the west and be in flat ground. We have nothing but steep hills and a few rocks here in my county but the next county over has shorter hills and is nothing but cliffs and caves. If anyone is ever in this area you outta vist "Carter Caves State Resort Park." Its a beautiful place. Though Carter County is full of caves on private property. Its got a few caves you can tour. I live 15 minutes from it. When you drop into my county you drop down into a deeper sea level. We have taller and steeper hills with less caves and cliffs. I actually know of only 1 cave in my county and its on a private farm.
  12. Yes sir. I live right in the far eastern side of Ky. We have some huge hills. We can drive an hr to the east and be right in the mountains.
  13. It runs right past us. We live in the appalachian foothills.
  14. Thats when it mostly happens here. Always the males. They see their reflection and think its a rival. And usually dont turn out pretty for them. Ive seen them attack the mirrors on our vechicles also.
  15. Our cats mom is a copperhead killer. The people we got him from when he was a kitten said they witnessed his mom kill a copperhead.
  16. The cardinals are bad for hitting windows around here.
  17. Broke down and bought my first world coin. I really like the design and toning on this coin. I had to have it when i saw it.
  18. I really love this coin. It is a 1918 D 1/2 Mark. I really like the design but does anyone else think the reverse looks like a bird flew into the window? And its just stuck there to the glass all sprawled out? And his little hat popped off where he hit so hard?
  19. I currently do not own any VAM Morgan or Peace dollars, but the short time ive been collecting Ive seen many many VAMs out there. I dont know exactly how many there actually is but I do know it would be quite a feat to aquire them all. I seen a list a couple years ago that had several mentioned on it. I never paid much attention to it because I was focusing on other parts of my collection. One day I may start to collect a few but, as of now Ive been focusing on other coins. My hats off to anyone who has tried to tackle the feat of collecting all the VAMs out there. It would be very interesting to read a book on them one of these days to get a better understanding on the topic.
  20. Not sure how other TPGs work but with NGC you have to select the variety or error box before they will list it on the holder. Its an additional $15 to do so. If it is a variety they reconize and its not listed on the holder then whoever submitted it probably didnt pay for the variety plus service.
  21. I agree with I.cutler. Dont believe its an rpm at all. Just strike doubling. Its very common in zinc cents. I find them roll hunting that look just like that around the mintmark on a regular basis. I looked under variety plus and they dont have any rpms listed for this year.
  22. Heres another one down and one step closer to completing my set. Still got a long way to go. I won it in an Ebay auction today. When it comes in, it will be #39 out of 85. Got a long ways to go. Hopefully I can complete it within the next couple years. Maybe sooner. Ive had a great time trying to put this set together.
  23. I had to look those up. Ive never seen one. They look very interesting. How much would something like the one in the pic be worth? Prob way out of my budget just guessing.
  24. Very attractive proof. What a great find.
