  1. Thats not a bit wierd. I dont think theres very many wrong ways to collect. Im bad about straying away from my goal on the GWs. Ive been looking at numerous world coins. Ended up getting a stray here and there. Theres just so many very lovely coins out there I would love to have.
  2. I did a quick search. The token is from the 1930s. Found a pic of the building. Couldnt find anything else. May be able if I spent a little time but just done a quick search.
  3. That be a good idea. Can make some Christmas ornaments out some of them. The old lady would definately get into that. Shes all the time making Christmas projects.
  4. Im not sure if they are still in business or not. I may try to do a search on them.
  5. Heres the token I was talking about. I was wrong. It is facing the same way as the bad one. I dont think it was intended to mean the same thing as what the Nazis swastika does. I hope not anyways. If I thought it did I wouldnt own it. I collect Ky tokens and its from a hat company in Louisville Ky. I thought the true meaning behind it was good luck.
  6. That is great. Makes it alot more fun to have someone to collect with. Im really hoping to get my wife into it. She actually started liking it trying to find one we could afford yet would be nice for the set. Good luck to you and yours on your set. That would be a pretty good challenge and alot of fun to complete. Im hoping to show my wife some various types of coins and hoping something will catch her eye. May even talk her into putting together a short set of something. She may come around. This is the closest Ive got her so far. The only way was to get her shopping for my present. She seemed to start liking it.
  7. Looks like a die clash to me. Just guessing. Im still in the learning process myself so I could be wrong.
  8. She would be better at it than me. She has way more patience than I do. If I get the money for a coin it worries me to death. I have to find one right then. She will hold off on something for months until everything works in her favor or she finds the right one. She almost didnt get the coin above because of the spot on GWs head and the other shiny spots on places on the eagle. I sweet talked her into it like a kid begging for candy at the store.
  9. I been working on it for close to a year now. Ive roughly have half around half of them now but I dont have any of the key dates. Those are gonna slow me down quite a bit. Ive got a few to replace later on. Got in to big of a hurry and bought a few that im not pleased with. Now ive slowed down and have been waiting on more appealing coins. Im also trying to get them all in MS but im going to have to settle for a couple AUs when i get to the big boys.
  10. This one came from a great friend of mine. I think these are lovely little coins. Very interesting that it was struck at San Francisco during war times. Some interesting history during that time period. Planning to reseasrch more about US Mints during that time period.
  11. Thats a great idea. I would like to do something like that for her.
  12. They were working on the hospital where my old lady is a nurse. It blew down their scaffolding and some forms and things. There was some minor damage to roofs and a few trees knocked over. I live in the north eastern part of the state. Heres a pic of the wifes work place.
  13. You are around the same age as my mom and dad. My mom was born in 58 and my dad 60. I thought about getting my mom some kind of birthset. She dosent collect but she would love something like that.
  14. The old lady got me another GW for my set for Christmas. Hopefully she will get into the hobby with me. Ive been trying to get her to. Be fun to work on a set together. I think she was having a good time trying to find one I didnt have last night. She spent a couple hrs trying to find a nice one at a good price. She ended up getting me this one. Getting ever so closer to my goal.
  15. I live in Ky but it didnt hit in my area. We got some high winds and some minor damage but we are OK up this way. Im heartbroken for all the ones affected. We just worked in Mayfield Ky about 3 weeks ago. Also several of the other little towns hit.
  16. Ive got a vintage Swann Hats token that has a swastika on it. It was meant for good luck. Before the Nazis hijacked it and turned it into something evil. It also has a horseshoe and couple other good luck items on it. If it werent for the swastika it would be a very attractive token. I think it is facing the opposite direction also then the bad one.
  17. Ive been known to find a jug or two laying around. I may or may not have a couple friends who may be able to work up a little mash.
  18. The obverse is nothing special but figured id post it also. Cant tell the clash on it anywhere.
  19. I found my first clashed die coin. I know its not worth much and not worth submitting but I thought it was a pretty neat find. Happy to add it to my personal collection in a 2×2 coin flip. Its a 1966. They must have polished the dies and didnt remove it all. Cant really tell much on the pics but I tried my best to capture it. Cant tell it on obverse. It is most noticable in the eagles wings on the reverse. Coin in hand under a loupe it is very noticable. Its not much of a coin and pretty worn but I thought it was a neat find for me and wanted to share it with whoever is interested.
  20. Im an 82 model. Eating all that deer meat and stuff keeps me young and quite handsome.
  21. With the coin in hand under a loup, I have to go with @Conder101on this one. I believe the die was worn so bad it was crumbling apart. That was my suspicion when I first seen it. Thats why it has the gobs of metal raised up perfectly on most the devices.
  22. Couldve been. Spent some time up there years ago.
  23. Its good to see youins fellers probably can understand me if you meet me. The old lady worked under a dr from California. We went out to eat with him and i tried to talk to him and he wouldnt say a word back to me all night. I thought he was to good or something. He told the old lady the next day he couldnt understand a word I was saying. Said I was like that Boomhower off that King Of the Hill cartoon.
