Hi everyone I think I found a goodie to day.

Nope. -
They put those +++++ to suck unexperienced buyers in. I fell for that stuff at one time. Make you think your getting something nice. Alot of them are like used car salesmen.
-
DMPL means deep mirror proof like. MS is the only one it would qualify as. It's a beautiful coin. Very nice looking.
-
It doesn't appear to have been cleaned to me.
-
They definitely keep improving as the technology improves.

Submission FAILURE. NGC is turning sour
Hoghead515 replied to Joejingojack's topic in US, World, and Ancient Coins
If you look real close you can see a big difference in certain areas of it. Especially in the little island looking things that encircle the dragon. -
I think on the regular strikes without a mint mark they were struck at Philly, Denver, and San Francisco. I think the only way to tell is by the label on the monster box they come in. I think alot of the dealers who get the monster boxes and send in the whole box to the TPG they will put the mint mark on it. If not it won't get a mint mark. I'm pretty sure that's how it is on the ASE's. If I'm wrong someone who knows will correct me.

Sell on eBay or send to grading
Hoghead515 replied to Nyami's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
It's happened to me several times when I first started. Didn't know what I was doing. Very first Ebay coin was a Morgan 1904 S. Description said beautiful, spotless, high grade Morgan. Got it in and I was very happy. Didn't have no knowledge at all. Gave $70.00 for it. After I attained more knowledge in the hobby I soon realized it had been cleaned. And there was a tiny spot on its head that had been tooled on for some reason. Description was way off and I got burned up. I was very dishearted. But I use it for a very expensive lesson learned. Sad to say before I learned tho, which makes it worse, I had bought another cleaned Morgan off Ebay. First 2 newbie purchases off Ebay. Both with Descriptions that made it sound like I was buying a gem. -
Submission FAILURE. NGC is turning sour

They have several graders in the grading room. What's the chances of all of them determing that all 4 coins were not genuine. And if PCGS said the same thing which he did not specify. Don't sound good. Sounds like I'd be getting a hold of the ones who sold them to me instead of bashing a room full of experts who look at them everyday for a living. -
I'm still fairly new but I've submitted a few coins and can help you a little. Under the modern tier it is $18 per coin for just the grading fees. On the error coins it's an additional $15 dollars per coin on top of the $18. It is very expensive to have some graded. Then you got a handling fee on top of the shipping fee. I just submitted a quarter with an error and it costed me right at $80 bucks for the one coin after all the fees for the cheapest tier. It's not worth sending a coin in unless the value will be around $150 or more. It will have to be a very nice coin and get a very high grade or you will take a major loss. Most coins are cheaper to buy already graded. Most coins you see out for sale were sent in bulk submissions by dealers. Dealers get a discount under bulk submissions is why you see cheaper coins in slabs at cheaper prices. Then if a coin is cleaned or scratched it will get a details grade. Be holdered but not graded and still charged the grading fee. Or if one has something on it it will go thru NCS to be conserved and be a fee on top of that. You could have $150 or so in one coin if your not careful and it just be a $30 coin already slabbed. Hope this helps a little. Good luck and hope they do good. Also they are way behind right now. It will take way over a month to get them back. And sometimes if you send in several and if they can't ship them back to you together for some reason it will cost additional shipping and insurance prices to ship each shipment back. The insurance is usually figured into the shipping.

I will probably get one next weekend.
-
That's usually how I am. The only way I figured this one out was it was a knowledgeable dealer I got it from and I confirmed all the die markers on variety vista. It was a match.

I probably will grab them. It takes lr927 batteries. I looked through several and found a few good deals. Those cheaper batteries may not last very long though. May be better to buy a better brand and pay a little more. That's awsome on the quarter. Those 35 D GWs usually run at a pretty good premium. That's on of the dates I need. I'm gonna keep my eye open for some a decent prices. Seems like I can do good at auctions sometimes. Have found a few good "buy it now" deals on the later dates. I do really love those quarters. Everyday I keep loving them more and more. Enjoying the hobby more the more I learn about it. I found a couple decent later dates I sent in for grading I got a good deal on. They arrived at NGC last week so they should be opened in a few days one is a RPM and the other a DDO. I bought both at a great price. I looked the DDO up on variety vista and got it from a reputable dealer. It's for sure the real thing. I noticed when looking at MD and a true DDO there is a big difference. There's no mistaking them is there? I'm sure if you get one harder to tell there is but this one is plain as day. Very cool you bought that one. If you end up having it slabbed keep me updated on its grade. Stuff like that interest me quite a bit. I hope she scores a 66. That would be sweet. Good luck on it my friend. Here's a couple pics of the DDO I took before I sent it in.

If it would have been me and I got a donation from someone like that I would make it public and turn in what money they gave me. Would make it clear to people I don't deal with people like that. My good word to people, conscience, and honesty is worth more than all the money in the world. I'd rather be broke then know I accepted dirty money. That's just me tho. I couldn't sleep at night knowing the good Lord was looking down on me for keeping that money knowing it was dirty. May be why I'm poor now but I got a clear conscience, a place to lay my head, and some of the most wonderful friends and family ever. And that's worth more than any amount of dirty money there is. For an example if someone robbed a bank and donated 20,000 to me and I found out I would turn the money back in. Them keeping that donated money from him is the same thing as receiving stolen property. I think politicians should be held to the same standards as us. Higher standards actually. No matter what side of the isle they are on.

Thank you. I love mine. It shows everything great. I done ran the battery low to where it's getting dim now. I looked into buying a pack of 20 for 8 dollars. I will probably order some with my next paycheck.
-
Imagine if that donation would have went somewhere else. Be the awfullest bunch of cane raised ever.

I'm gonna vote stapler.

I think the 83 does. -
Those are very nice. I will have to study up more on them. One of these days I ever get my regular strike GW collection done I may try to do a run of proofs. The opportunity presented itself to get one so I went ahead and got that one so I'll have a coin of that type. Those are some very beautiful spotless coins. Would love to own one that beautiful.

First (?) US Mint medal made with a reducing lathe....

Very cool. Thanks for sharing -
Thank you my friend. I have learned a whole lot from you all. Sometimes I don't comment on alot of threads but I read them and use that knowledge. There's no way I could have ever learned most of the things I have if I wouldn't have joined this forum. I would have still been watching YouTube videos and saving MD coins. I learned a whole lot and now may be able to help someone else if they ever need it or teach my kids and grandkids what I learned. I learn something ever single day off here. There is way more to this hobby than I ever dreamed.

Some stamped coins can be very cool. Some people collect stamped coins. But they won't grade because they are considered damaged. They will get a details grade.
