Don't know if he had insurance, but both shops (Miller's included) should.

I want to agree with your statement, but I can’t. A few years ago a prominent and well known gold prospector’s shop was robbed in Helena. His gold nugget collection was amazing. I’ve supported him as much as I could before and after the robbery. Some of his collection has been recovered and returned. Bottom line-it happens everywhere and happens too much.

Truly a sad development.
100% agree. Hopefully the thieves will be located promptly.

I’m sure many of you know Wayne Miller of Helena, Montana. His shop was burglarized on March 3rd. The intruders only took early Morgan dollars and ignored the cash register and the case displaying gold coins.I’m including a link to one story, but any search will result in numerous reports. (Not sure if my link will work)
Mr. Miller has authored several books about Morgan and Peace dollars.

I joined a few months ago. I added one set to the registry (’72 mint set). It was the only set at the time, but two other sets have been added by other members since. I have also guessed the grade on over 1,000 coins and have enjoyed that part of the site. Members can comment on registry sets. Not sure if that is a good idea or not. Time will tell.

My 2023 was a good year. I purchased a few new books and read them. I found more coin shops in Montana and visited them. I added several coins to my registry and moved up the ranks in the sets that I focus on, especially the circulated US coin-type sets. Moving forward, I hope to add a few of the more difficult coins to my type sets, including early seated half dimes, dimes, quarters, and halves (1838-1840). Also, an AU58 seated dollar would make 2024 awesome.

Gold prospecting is a fun hobby. I have spent more money on gas, equipment, etc. than I have found or will ever find.
