  1. Another big difference between Etsy and eBay is that eBay will remove counterfeits, misrepresented coins and raw coins listed over $2500.00. They don’t catch them all but at least they try. Etsy is not all interested in removing anything. There theory is let the buyer beware. This is why most of the counterfeiters and overpriced coin sellers list on Etsy
  2. Welcome to the Forum As mentioned, just damage, not an error, the fact that the copy is in reverse tells you that it is what is known as a vise job.
  3. Not a Dryer Coin. As Conder101 stated, it has been ground down on both sides. Have seen quite a few of these lately, nearly all done intentionally.
  4. Looks like someone has fried to clean it. A damaged coin not worth much above bullion now.
  5. That’s called a lamination. It is a defect that occurs on the planchet before the coin is struck.
  6. There is nothing there that could happen during the striking of the coin, it is just damage.
  7. Welcome to the Forum It is damage. Looks like it has been squeezed in a vise. When postings pictures, please show both sides instead of two the same
  8. Can you take a larger clear closeup of the mm.
  9. No errors there, just a lot of damage. There is no way that would happen when the coin was struck.
  10. Welcome to the Forum That wheatie has been badly damaged. The date would not matter as it has no value over one cent
  11. S mint are Proof coins, D mint are business strikes, it can’t be both
  12. If you are referring to a grade, it means Specimen.
  13. Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it and seasons greetings to others.
  14. Welcome to the Forum Please explain where you see an error so we are not guessing, looks normal to me
  15. Not quite sure where you see DDR, pictures are too out of focus with too much glare to say for sure. Not being critical but to see any DD, photos have too be sharp with no glare.
  16. Good explanation by Mohawk. One of the few times a picture is not necessary to give an answer.
  17. I agree, just damage that looks like an S. There is no way for that to happen during the striking of the coin.
  18. We are going to need a clear closeup of the mm in able to help you. We need to see all the detail clearly. Also your heading says DDD instead of RPM
  19. Although it is a little low, the mint marks were hand stamped into the dies so they can appear anywhere in that area below the date and right of the head. Don’t forget that there would have been hundreds of thousands of coins struck from that die so there are many more out there in that position.
  20. I believe there is only one known 1776 Pine Tree coin in existence. Everything else is a counterfeit.
  21. I agree, everytime I open the Forum, I am signed out and then have to sign in again. Once I close the forum, the cycle continues.
  22. I know at first it is sometimes hard to distinguish between MD and DD. It took a while for me to catch on until one day it finally clicked and I have had no problem ever since. Here is a little chart I put together for someone on another Forum. It is pretty basic.
