  1. Thank you, would that be a little die crack, or die chip going down his cheek. If you look at the full obverse of the coin it shows pretty well.
  2. Hi again everyone, a local guy in my town gave this to me , because it is my birth year. I was wondering why he was asking a few days ago what year I was born ,cool though. Anyways I was checking it out, and the penny looked like a fingerprint on it. I thought you can check out the pics ,and see what you think. Interesting. Because it looks like to me something else is going on with this.
  3. Please don't tell me it isn't so. I got it at a local jewelry store. He's been really honest with me for about a year. He taught me a little bit of fake coin's out there. I know for sure he will take it back. He said he wouldn't do that to someone. I would think he probably had it tested and other stuff he does checking out his merchandise.
  4. Sorry everyone, I was reading in the red book. The book wasn't explaining how all that happened. So I looked on line and there saying so many was destroyed/melted for the 1920s to bring it to 150,000 push into population. And so many of the 1921s to 20,000. But cool coin. I just want to point out it does have a misaligned edge and a small die crack from his elbow to the D in dollar.
  5. Hi everyone, they made 172,000 of these in 1920-1921 combine. They destroyed/melted a total of 128,000. That would roughly leave close to 50,000 out in population. Wouldn't these be on the rare side. Especially the 1921s since there were only 20,000 minted.
  6. Looks like rough scratches coming from collar.
  7. Trying to figure out the cameo thing on this. Anyone know anything about these sets. I'm only pulling up individual PRDCAMs on these. I'm understanding they broken open the sets. The nickel is really throwing me off because of the color toning. My question, is this a true cameo set. Hmmm.
  8. Now that is some major die bouncing in the date. I know it's not value, but pretty cool.
  9. What you're seeing is a reverse proof. See the mirror shine. Lol I better stop, the way things are going people would really believe that. Esty and youtubers would have a heyday with this coin.
  10. Would this be considered a die crack on Steele's. I'm not thinking it's a die clash, because the overlay has nothing in that area. I thought it was a scratch until I took a closer look at it.
  11. True, I don't look for double dies on Lincoln's zinc. Im talking about on dates and lettering. I'm more into ears, wam, cams ect.... thanks for the link.
  12. That's good understanding. Like the Lincoln cent's from 83 to date ,there from my understanding is pressed once. But they call some of them DDOs. So really confusing a bit, but good information to know. Thanks
  13. So I was doing a little more research on this. Is this caused by a bouncing die, Would the reason be it's MD. This is really cool and interesting.
  14. I can't find DDOs on these. But would this be considered one. Or is this MD. I'm afraid to take it out of the flip until I get gloves to check out some of the rest. But the L and I in liberty looks like some what doubled. Hmmm interesting.
  15. Thought this would be cool to share. This coin has seen its day. Die crack through the neck.
  16. I just got an email in my Google, that the mint isn't producing much coin's because of the pediment. Something about down to 40 percent only going out. And of course there try to kill the penny. They want to kill the penny and make 1 dollar cooper coin's and get rid of the paper dollars. So instead of purchasing an item at 1.99 it would be round up to an even 2.00. Crazy stuff going on but interesting though.
  17. Thanks everyone, I'm really trying. There's so much to learn . I'm reading and going on line , it's a lot of work. Lol. But interesting and fun.
  18. Ok, would this be a defected die or would I call this a lamination error. I'm looking back and forth from the red book and what defected die is and lamination. It looks like lamination. I don't see large die crack with raised metal. Unless this is and I'm not understanding that. I'm thinking lamination. Hope I'm right lol.
  19. It looks like sasquatch big thumbprint.he must of came out of the woodworks and purchased something somewhere.
  20. Hi everyone, I didn't want to post a million pictures to show all doubling. So here's two spots I circled that might help. In the fourth line over looks like maybe die clash as you can see it's curving out from the line. but the line under the eagles chin looks like double. Some of the other double on the reverse looks to be MD. Any intake on this would be great. Thanks
  21. Don't know if it's PMD or some kind of die adjustment strike. I thought it might be a parking lot coin. Idk I do lots of research on line but can't find good images to kinda relate to some of my coin's.
  22. Was this sitting in some kind of chemical to long. Hmmm
  23. Thank you greenstang, the over polishing die was my other assumption. Cool, good to know.
  24. Hello again, so does grease die count for just Lincoln alone or does it have to have the lettering or date in with it for to be a struck through. I have went through so many photos on line but can't find any. This coin only has faded parts on Lincoln, such as his lips ,nose ,neckline and parochial bow. And the out line of the Lincoln portrait. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
  25. Hi everyone, I know these are common on Lincoln cents but wanted to share. What's interesting is I bought 10 dollars of cents and found one 1983 spiked head. I put aside and wasn't going to post it , because everyone knows about spiked head coin's. Well, not just one but two. So from Philadelphia and Denver mint. I found alot on the Philadelphia coin's but not so much on the Denver mint. I just think its cool to find both in an hours time. So I'm definitely going to put these two side by side in my collection.
