So I've been working on this dime for about a week and a half. Doing research thinking how some of the date and lettering are like this. If you look at the G in GOD, it tells me its somewhat doubling. And some on TRUST. Maybe it's die deterioration doubling. And look at the ear, that keeps me wondering to. Cool coin though, it kept me busy for a little bit. Lol

Had to have it because I was born in 1976. The red book says 9.00 dollars at pr69. But gave 15 for it. It's a keeper.

Hello everyone, I here alot on this forum that it best to buy already graded coins. But hearing from individuals that the capsule's can also be a fluke. I have this coin and the bar code is on the reverse. I searched other one's and it's on the obverse with the numbers. Is this just an older capsule and the newer one's are different. When I see something different or odd it makes me curious if I got a genuine coin. I I type in the number in the PCGS coin search. It just has the description and no photo like the others. Hmmm

Some interesting food for thought
Hinkle replied to Ratzie33's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Food for thought , I think I'm going to get me a burger and fries. -
Hi everyone, I'm doing an overlay on this dime ,but confused that it's not lining up. Or is this possibly something else that I'm not seeing. I tried to research errors around that area, but came up with nothing. It's the line on the right side above the leaves. Could that possibly be part of the band. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Meet my little friend. Ahahahah. Lol It's the Lincoln on the reverse. Looks like a small die crack going from his mouth to the neck area. Pretty cool.

I thought this would be a good puzzle for everyone. Don't know if it is just damaged or some kind of error. I think it is different coin's beat together. But there are imprint of other coin's and also raised on some. I have a funny feeling that this coin was a error at some time. The MM is both raised, the 1999 D nickel at the very top is incused. Three different D mint marks on Lincoln's head. And raised liberty above the original liberty. The rims look fine though. The reverse i thought where scratches but they are raised lines .Idk what would be your thought. Interesting piece.

1997-P quarter spiked head and other die cracks
Hinkle replied to Hinkle's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Thanks, I know there's die cracks on quarters, but didn't know of any spiked heads. -
I didn't know these existed on quarters. I was to lazy to bring out my handy dandy scope, but its visual in these pics. Going from head through the tail end of E to the rim. And the second crack ,going from rim up to the neck all the way around to a little bit pass in front of the 1. I know it doesn't show by the 1 but it's there. Pretty excited about this one. So cool.

That's not Princess Diana, looks more like Florence Henderson ,the mom off the Brady bunch show. Lol -
1992D penny ddo/ddr with a rpm
Hinkle replied to Brad adams's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Just a common circulating Lincoln. What you want to look for is a CAM on a 92, then it would be other than face value. The one in the pic of the reverse is a WAM. -
1992D penny ddo/ddr with a rpm
Hinkle replied to Brad adams's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
I know this might be a little bit quick. But that is a strike, aka ( mechanical or machine double). -
With this being said, maybe I'll take a trip to New York and pull some of them coin's up out of the asphalt. And then post them on here and try to convince everyone there errors. Because you know them are going to be some very bad damaged coin's. Lol and to be honest I stoop down and pick up any coin, it's fun.

It looks like the mint is deciding to quit producing Lincoln cents. Maybe!! Just got this stuff pop up on my phone. It's looking like everything will be round up to a nickel. But there saying the nickel will be next. What's this going to do to this hobby. Hmmm. I'm thinking alot of people are going to hold on to there coin's. The mint is asking people to cash in there coin's. From what I'm hearing Canada stop there one cents in 2012. Idk, but interesting.

Hello again everyone, I did some research on this half dollar and figured out it's not much unless it's really high grade. I have not stepped up into trying to grade anything, haven't got that far in this hobby yet. But as a newbie, from what I have learned on some of the posts on this forum that nic's can drop the grade down alot. There's alot of nic's on this coin. So the little things I know is this set is uncirculated. Maybe brilliant uncirculated. Idk I may be wrong lol. I'm thinking knowing that it might not have that high grade, to keep the set the way it is. I heard alot of people broke these open and spent them. Can someone let me know if that is MD on the word Half Dollar. I'm just wondering because the D in dollar looks like some kind of DD. Thanks.

Hi everyone, I took the coin back and explained what was going on with it. He had no problem taking it back. Plus the weight was way off it weighed 11.44. And pointed out what we were seeing. It's so hard to figure out some coin's when purchasing. I just need to be a little careful next time. I might just take pics next time and do research before buying. I want to thank everyone for helping me on this coin. Lesson learned, but it all came out ok.

Ok , thank you.
