1965 East Caribbean States 5 cent/and a riddle
Hinkle replied to Hinkle's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Ahahahah YUP. -
You got me, man you guy's are good. I thought that was a filled cream donut. I'm lacking on my research skills lol.
-
If I torch it ,I'll just go ahead and melt it. I just made a couple cents richer in my checkbook. They got the caramelized sugar atop the brulee without the cream. Lol
-
Yeah, but I got to put a really good toning on it and let pass by quite a few pawn and title companies ,to see what I get in percentages between pretty and ugly. So that way when it's on it's way to be graded hopefully crossing my fingers I would get that little sticker on the capsule for good eye appeal.

The corroded style your seeing is built up and decayed satin finish particles. It was once a reverse satin finish. 🙄 the weight I'm not sure but I'll work on that and let you know. Lol

The only way to figure out whether it's Ionic or Corinthians is by Caesar or his brother sitting in the middle. Wondering what variety I have. Maybe I'll clean it with a wire brush so we can tell better. I'll get back to you all later on results. Ahahahah, that's funny.
-
Right!! Wait, was that before or after they discovered fire. Ahahahah

Has anyone heard the term , hi I'm so and so and my favorite color is clear. Well clearly I see a 2 over 1 on this coin. Just found a new variety and hit the jackpot on this one. I'm pretty sure y'all see it to. C'mon let's get real. If you all believe that and get truthful answers to were you get your hopes up, then try doing more research and find out that what you were told was the truth. Like I said before nobody's going to stirr you the wrong way. But look at me I'm a newbie too and my desk is full of books, two phone's and a couple of other things to somewhat know knowledge on other aspects of ways. Idk I thought I would get in on the action. I'm just being funny, if you really want to know me, well look at my profile picture, that right there will tell you I'm not playing with a full cent. Lol

Thanks greenstang, and Coinbuf. I know there's alot of damaged caused by circulation and no premium to this coin, but I'll keep it anyways.

Hey everyone, thought this would be cool to show. Just going through rolls of coin's and came up with this one. Not the one I was hoping for, but still on the hunt.
-
I also have this and thought I would share. Did a little research and learned some history. But what is confusing , I don't know if the lantern is supposed to be straight up and down behind him, or like it is shown in the pics. There's so many pictures online that show different positions the way it sits. If the lantern supposed to be straight up and down, then the reverse is rotated by alot.

1953 10 Repvbblica Italiana DDR
Hinkle replied to Hinkle's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Sorry about that, I meant the wheat hair line in the bottom corner of the 0. True I think all coin's should be collected out of love. But when people see there's nothing value or interesting, they tend to throw them away or to the side. But I put mine in 2x2s and put in a folder with other unique coin's. -
The doubling is taking place at the bottom right of the 0. Plus its not lining up with the line going through the 0. Pretty awesome coin.
-
Thought this would be cool to post. Some of the stuff I come across ,is sometimes interesting not to. Also have a little blob of metal on the 9 in date. Which I think these are called die chips.

Thanks RWB, there's alot that is learned on that link. So much I didn't even know. I hope more newbies will get in there and learn a few things, I sure did.

Thanks, got it.

2009-S 1$ Zackary Taylor DDR "Doubled Lip Liberty"
Hinkle replied to Hinkle's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Thanks Coinbuf, I know there only one press die after certain years on modern coin. But how is it they can call a 84,88 cents double ears when they are one press dies. Also your 2009 double finger. Clearly from what I'm learning, is that would be called plating bubble for it to look like that. These dollar coin have like 88% copper and like 7% zinc. I'm trying to learn better on line and some books about mechanical doubling, and one press dies which the dies are bouncing while being struck. And how rpms aren't after certain years . When there not hand punched anymore. Just not understanding, certain ones could be called one thing but other ones can't be called as being seen. I found a 2000-D quarter that has doubling in GOD we trust, but i know that it's machine doubling. But they have one on Ebay as a DDO. Mine looks more legit than that one. I'm still learning ,still love doing this and hunting for any good one's that might be out there. -
Hello everyone, I'm thinking this could possibly be eight tail feathers, I could be wrong though. What would be your thoughts. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

2009-D penny BIRTH & CHILDHOOD Die Clash
Hinkle replied to Hinkle's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Thanks, I'll remember that and I will study harder on what I'm seeing on the coin. I've thrown back alot of damaged coins back in circulation. -
So I don't know if this is broken steps or maybe doubling steps. Maybe someone can help me on this. Then I think I have a die crack on the corner left side of building. This is very interesting find on all four coin's in a set. But there's a fifth and it's a 2010 shield cent , couldn't find nothing on that one tho.
