David Lange Will Be Missed
KarenHolcomb replied to KarenHolcomb's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Yeah, that too. Although nobody would know if we read or not. If those he personally explained stuff too or those who knew him personally would share little tidbits of the knowledge he passed to them, like @JT2 did above, then his name and the knowledge he dealt out to others would spread by people reading what they write. At this point though, I suppose it is a moot point because we are the only ones to have said anything at all. But I do feel better having recognized him myself regardless of what other chose to do or not to do. He helped me out and I just wanted to share that. -
David Lange Will Be Missed
KarenHolcomb replied to KarenHolcomb's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
That's a fact. I think it would be cool if everyone would write about what their interactions with him were/what they learned from him for others to know how great he was. We all could also learn from what they learned. -
So I saw this on FaceBook this morning. Very sad. Mr. Lange answered one of my questions here and schooled me on Ejection Striations. He seemed to be a very member in these Forums and will surely be sorely missed. My thoughts go out to all his family and friends. This is a great loss to the Numismatic world as a whole. Rest In Peace Sir. https://www.ngccoin.com/news/article/11191/david-lange-memoriam/

@J P MI just can't call it anything less than Shattered. I may be a stubborn little girl, but this is a special Coin. I have made 1st Contact with error-ref and hopefully they will let me send some photos since the guy at CUDS on Coins isn't working right now. I mean heck, this Coin has their listings for 01R thru 06R all on one Coin and they have nothing with the ones on the Obverse. Idk? I'll get it figured out somehow and have a name for it by weeks end. Regardless it sure is a coolio Coin. Lol!

Hey you guys. Thanks a bunch. I love it and find it absolutely lovely. Lol! @Just Bob Maybe that's why ot may not be a Shattered Die after all. So this kid that I put a lot of faith in says that in order for the Die to be considered Shattered that the Breaks/Cracks have to be connected but I've not heard that. I don't know what else they'd call it with it looking like this. Do y'all know anything about that?

Hi guys. Thought I'd share a Lincoln Cent Struck with a Shattered Hammer Die for you all to gaze upon. Lol! I found it about an hour ago while searching a batch of early 80's from my Neighbor Lady. Enjoy...

2009-S proof half dollar doubled eagle head
KarenHolcomb replied to Hinkle's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Boy. That is weird. Idk if that's Doubling or not. Proofs are so difficult to see in print, especially when they are from a special set. Could it be Frosting Slop or something like is on Washington's Head on the Crossing the Delaware Quarters? Anyways it isn't right, that's for sure. Here's a ScreenShot of the example given on USS CoinBook and there's clearly nothing like that on it. -
Well thanks Guys. I agree, having seen these photos that's very likely my answer. I can't believe this is my 1st time seeing one like this. Kind of looks like a Zincoln with bubbles. Until next time then...

1988 penny how to tell from a true MAD
KarenHolcomb replied to Hinkle's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
I never noticed it before, but they are kind of similar. https://www.error-ref.com/search/MISALIGNED+die/ https://www.error-ref.com/search/Ridge+ring/ -
@GoldFinger1969glad to help someone out.

I love you story. I always want to get actual answers that make sense as opposed to what people just use as their canned answers about everything or even worse, the standard of PMD and nothing else.

Well, I think I can offer some knowledge on this one. What would be phenomena,l of course, would be if the year the Notes were printed were the same as the Serial. But alas, that's not the case. However.. with Fancy Serials, what I've noticed is that the $1 and $5 Notes go for a much higher premium than the larger Bills. Ie, if a $1 and a $100 Note have the same fancy Serial, the $1 Note gets $50 while the $100 Note gets $105. Do you see what I mean? Also, I can offer the attached 'cheater' for reference that many of us out so indeed consider a Birth YEAR Note more worthy than a BirthDAY Note. I'm not saying qhat yours are worth, if anything, but they are worthy to someone that was born in these years and it can also give you the necessary term to make them sound better and more worthy. Because yours are not BirthDAY Notes, they are Birth YEAR Notes. That can make a giant difference when you go to list them wherever you do your selling at. Hope ut helps. Btw, that repeater will get a nice premium. Check ebay's SOLD Listings.

Hey Smellows! Happy Holidays to you all. A girl in one of my Groups asked about this Coin. Since it's a newbie Group and somehow dude talked me into being an Admin, I feel like it's my responsibility to help everyone as much as I can even though I know nothing. So I said I'd figure it out. The only thoughts I've been given is that it's been 'Whizzed'. My search for a definition and photo evidence has brought me back here, to my Alma Mater, if I may. Thing is that while the verbal description dows seem to match what I see in this Lincoln, the pictures presented look nothing like this one. Can you guys put any if your knowledge onto my head about it please? And also provide me with either a link to the site for photos or even your own photographic proof of what it is?Thank you.- Karen

@Just BobHeck yeah, Sir. I am sure trying and putting in the time. You know I don't really Roll Hunt so anything I do find is from my pocket change or somebody else's. I am lucky to have 4 to my name. That's 1 a year. Lol! -
Hey Fellers. I hope this night finds you all in the bestest of moods so you can celebrate my 2nd Nickel Discovery with me. Yes indeedy... This makes 2. I have the 2019P 003 and now 2020P 026. And I'm fairly sure that I found another 2020P as yet undiscovered in my change back from GoMart this afternoon. Yay Me! I know it's not a great big deal to some, but this is the Newbie room and might just give some Newbie a reason to keep on keeping on.
