  1. Hey Fellers! Wuz up?! So you say it's my Birthday?! Yes, it's my Birthday today, Yeah! Whoop! Whoop! Currently serving a 30 day sentence on FB but I don't post Coins there anymore anyways. Only here. I answer questions there is all anymore. Anyways, did I mention it's my Birthday? It is. It is. I swear it. 10:05a.m. July 30, 1969 @DeWitt ARMY Hospital Ft. Belvoir, VA Look me up. I was there. Made a grand entrance feet first and fighting all the way, I did. Now you all know I been difficult since the day I was born. TeeHee! Ok. Down to bitness then... This is my 1984 Lincoln Cent FS-01-1984-102(038) w/all the Markers that I currently have for sale at My Little Dot of the Bay for $25. I think it's a pretty good/great example and while it does have a lot of Die Abrasion all over, otherwise it's in ok condition with a nice strong Strike. So tonight I'm browsing and am seeing that there are others listed and sold that may be Red but also have terrible Strikes and black spots, etc and they are listed and selling for way more than my $25 asking price. Even up to $99! Why? Thanks. I love you guys and I mean it!!!
  2. Oops! I thought that was just some of the black smudge that gets onto them. My bad. Shew! Glad I don't have to be all cornfused again.
  3. Thanks so much for your kind words. I am glad to be of help to somebody. Especially one who appreciates it. Happy Hunting-Karen
  4. Okie doke Kim... The Zinc damage will only be on 1982-now Lincoln Cents that weigh in at or about 2.5g and can be on any part of a Coin. It can be opened with a hole or bubbled up everywhere but not broken and is kind of pretty, it can even be in a straight line resembling a Crack and we call those Linear Plating Blisters. There is even what we call Split Plating that looks as if the Copper has pulled away from the characters and left gaps everywhere. Check out error-ref.com when you have study time. All of this and more os covered on the site and in outline form. When a Lincoln is looking pinkish it's most likely one that been exposed to a vinegar or Ketchup, Hot Sauce, something like that. I know this because I did experiment with many condiment soaks of my Lincoln Cents way back when to see what would happen and the results were never good. Did you know that peroxide warmed in a wax warmer full of Lincoln's will eat away the entire Coin and leave only black powder behind? Now you do. That said, don't clean your Coins or at least don't yell when you do. These guys get very upset about that. And they are absolutely 100% correct when they say a Collector knows and a cleaned Coin that was worth $100 before being cleaned is worth maybe $10 after it's cleaned. Especially Proofs or Halves and whole dollars any Coin that might be resellable you don't want to touch or clean in any way shape or form. HOWEVER... say you been out with your metal detector and dug up some Coins and you can't make heads or tails, hehe, of what they are... Then you can buy a $30 ultrasonic cleaner to get the surface dirt off of them. I hope this helped you gain a better understanding on Zincoln's. This is why I don't much fool with them at all. I look only for major Errors and Varieties like DD's and Die Clashes and put the rest right back into circulation.
  5. @VKurtBToo funny. Never heard of Lincky Pox before and I'm gonna use it too.
  6. This is the Cancer of Zinc Coins and is referred to as Zinc Rot. You will only see it on Lincoln Cents 1982 to present. It is caused by bubbles, for lack of a better word, between the layers of the Coin. When the Coin comes into contact with certain chemicals, unknown to me, they react and burst and this is the resulting look. It will transfer and effect other Zincoln's, so is best to rid yourself of them as soon as you get one.
  7. @l.cutlerBoom! What a great answer. I absolutely 99.5% agree with @Oldhoopsterat his comment with the link. 99.5% being that every single Newbie to the Numismatic World must without exception watch or read at least 2 videos/articles about the entire Minting process from design to where the Coin enters that giant bin enroute to be rolled. The .05%... I too want to know what caused whatever damage has been done to my Coin. Too few Experts either here, on other sites, or on FB are willing, or maybe even able, to answer that question. With a Coin like this one here it's obvious the culprit is fire, likely from a vise and a torch. It shows all the signs of it just how cutler explained. @Shawn11would have known hoopster was correct had he already taken the time and initiative to have viewed a few videos and none of the spooning argument would have followed. I have a great PDF of the minting process from ancients to modern if anyone is interested. It's not been available for DL online in several years, idky that is but I had DLed it before it was removed. Only issue is that I can't share it via any method other than email unless someone would want 12 screenshots. Let me know. Y'all have a great weekend. And put on a happy face! 😁
  8. Wow, that is a doozy for sure. I like the one you have better than the 2nd one though. With his reputation a whip was my 1st thought when I saw the kite string. Lol! (Gawd I hope none of you are offended. Now that I've reread it my statement had nothing to do with slavery either). Heck, should I just delete the whole thing? Smh
  9. May be the difference between it being from and on a Copper as opposed to a Zinc Cent? Yours is Copper, right?
  10. Boy that is a beaute for sure. However it has me confused now. I see a lot of CUD's on Sheild's because a FB friend is just ga-ga over them, and I was under the impression that by the time a CUD has developed to this size there are signs of it elsewhere on the Coin as well. Whether the Break is visible or a major depression somewhere else on the Coin. I guess that's not correct since I don't see anything abnormal on your Coin except for the CUD itself. Dang-it. Time for more study for me I suppose. And here I thought I already knew it all. Lmbo! Great Coin. I've never found one myself. Shucks!
  11. @VKurtBYou'll have that at times. It's a tough day for many, I'm sure. I wondered the same thing. The example of a Shattered Die they have on err-ref says that the Die wasn't even Terminal at the time of the Strike. Of course it only has Breaks on one side. NOBODY WILL EVER BEAT MY SHATTERED DIE COIN. Lol! I'm the Winner.
  12. @Mr.Bill347Thanks for asking and for the compliment on my shots. Yes, after some time and careful life management I am back on track to my new future and life gets better each day. It IS an amazing example of the Error, isn't it. I was stunned when I saw it. I had never seen a BAHT before and with the wear on it and how full the design is, I did have to make sure all those Cracks weren't just part of the design. Lol! @RWB said a 'Messy' Coin. I agree but would have used 'Busy'. Funny thing was that as I continued through the bag of Coins there was another BAHT the same as this one only without the Error. I love this Coin and as I said, there just hasn't seemed to be a lot of interest in it. But I hope some more people do have a look at it because I don't think it's an Error that we see a whole lot of in our everyday lives.
  13. Hey Fellows! How's everyone been? Lots of life changes for me the past couple of years so I've sold pretty much all my stuff trying to get up out of a hole, but I do still have and never lost my interest in the Coin and I'm sure to have that for life. It is still a great escape for me. All that said, a very old friend stopped by just after trading yada, yada for Yada+a bag of World Coins, which he wound up just giving to me. I know Errors aren't much worthy with World Coins, and this Coin is way wore out to Boot but not so wore out that you can't see ALL those Cracks everywhere all over the Coin. I was amazed by it, but nobody has shown much interest. But you know what? I don't care. I do know that this Coin blows the reference Coin for a Shattered Die on error-ref out of the water and into the next hemisphere. Lol! So I know it's a super cool example. Have a look see and tell me what you think. Thanks for still being here for me.
  14. Hi Conder! I hope all is well in your world. Here I am almost 3 years later to offer up a coinkidink(sp-oops-VKurt will be upset) about this whole weight tolerance of the Copper Lincoln Cent. I bring this up because I have been told by some people that the allowance is +-.13 and by others that it is +-13%. Now, you can + or - the .13gms and get your official answer. You can also + or - the 13% and get the answer that will bring you a Premium. So 2.97 to 3.24 is official but you'll get squat but go down 13% to 2.71 or up to 3.51 and be shown the money. Just an observation. Obviously I was looking to verify the specs for a new collector and ran across this thread. Later- Karen
  15. @VKurtBOh my. You are too funny. I am hardly a Millennial, h e double toothpicks, I had to look at your comment to spell it correctly. I honestly do not know why I hate it so. I guess really only whenever a woman talks about her gut. For Dudes, it's all good. Dudes have guts. Women have belly's or tummy's or stomach, h e double toothpicks, I would even go for Digestive Tract. Lol! Don't you be calling me that M word anymore.
  16. @Just Bobno. It is not. @J P Mashokeok. I was hopeful. Lol! Cause I never find anything great. @CoinbufI see what you're saying. I was thinking more of the ERIC, but that doesn't float either. I know you guys are correct. I was just hoping... @OldhoopsterThat was what I was hoping for was a rotation in there somewhere. I couldn't figure how that could have happened, but was hopeful. Ok guys. I am satisfied. Thanks for being patient with me. -Karen
  17. I hear you. Sorry to hear you were sick. Hopefully though, even with the restrictions, you'll manage to hang around for a while longer. Right? The alternative to those restrictions aren't likely favorable at all. Shew! Gut is probably my least favorite word on Webster's. Lol! Especially those ads that the women say it. Ick! I don't know why I hate it so, but I do.
  18. Me and VKurt, the Grammar Nazis. Lol! And so I present you all with this screen shot of a similar Coin but it being a 2nd Strike something or other. However, the incuse Anvil Die wasn't used until after 1982, I am grasping at straws. But just want to show it anyway. @VKurtBHow have you been, Sir?
