Alex in PA. reacted to Coinbuf in CAC Question
If you know a dealer or collector in your area that is willing to submit them on your behalf that will be the quickest, least expensive way. If you are friends with a collector who can submit that you can trust; that is the most cost effective way to submit as collectors do not pay for the coins not stickered where dealers pay for each coin sticker or not. I would be happy to submit them for you (I am a collector submitter) but then there is the double cost of shipping which really gets expensive. And of course if you have applied to CAC for collector membership then you can simply wait until you receive their approval and can submit yourself.

Crack or gouge. Not much difference to me.

Yep!
Kevlar is your best investment today. I got my Level IVA 1155. Stop a Kalashnikov round.

Also, in this Hobby, a few will do anything to get recognition. Conjuring up is just one stone on the path to disappointment.

In this hobby, as in most aspects of life, hero worship often leads to disappointment.

I kinda liked a few coins with die cracks to some degree when I first started collecting. Then everywhere I look I see all these crazy names for them and its completely turned me aginst them: Wounded deer. Spike head George. Speared buffalo Crackhead Jeff. Crippled eagle. Its ruined it for me. Espically when I see people online charging a high premium for them. I still think some of the major cracks are pretty neat. But all these spitting animals and crippled eagles and things are not my thing. I get tired of seeing every die crack get a cute little name. But if thats what your into then thats great. Im happy for the people who are into them but it gets old seeing all the names for every little spot on a coin. Espically when someone is trying to give it name to try and make it sound like its really something and make a premium off them. To me they will always be defects. And Ive thrown some back in the change jar before. I need to start slinging them out in the yard when I find them so it will be one less coin someone cant take advantage of someone with on etsy or ebay.

Good 4 U. Now I will quote myself: "me believe you are not what you profess to be".

It's things like this that make me believe you are not what you profess to be. No luck on the CU Forum?

I have a clad coin that has a higher FMV than my GSA Carson City Morgan dollars. Obviously not a normal situation, but it IS a perfectly normal coin. No error or variety. The grade is highly unusual.

I do not stack precious metals. I really only collect coins for fun...and, that's a good thing considering my collection is mostly base metal.

If only we could make such disappearances occur “on demand”.

Sticky little buggers

For one of the longest, most in-depth, detailed, intricate, quasi-informative posts from what appeared to be a serious coin collector (or dealer).....the OP sure disappeared in a hurry and never posted again.

Are the removed stickers properly called "has beans?"

I see the guy got perma-banned ATS.
Brett has fully endorsed JA & I think he is spending way too much time in the grading room.
I'm glad NGC is staying out of the whole CAC insanity.

All of it falls back on the absence of clear, repeatable standards - plus inconsistency.

Very nice example and nearly full detail - missing a bit on the L-hand and central wing. AWW monogram is clear and sharp.
