Do you guys believe Ken Potter actually consulted on the OP's coin?
Thank you.

Nah, just an ordinary, run of the mill, common scratch.

I'm just shaking my head at the CAC insanity. Have people lost the ability to grade for themselves?
I think, suspect, that there is a whole new generation of collectors who have more money than brains and reply on the TPGs and Sticker Makers to guide them. CAC, BW, etc., like + and *, are created by dealers to enrich dealers.

What RWB said. The Coin Doctors, aka 'Shake and Bake' artists churn toned Morgans out by the dozen on a daily basis. Pretty ain't always good.

Leave it as is. There are some folks on eBay who pay good money for coin jewelry. Just a suggestion; nothing more.

My oh my. Sounds like a deal to me.

I see coins for sale on places like EBay and Etsy
Etsy = buyer beware. Majority of coins minted by Kwai Chang Kane Ltd. of Hong Kong.

I will post in the Newbie section
Lookie here Bill; for decades, that's right decades, some here have tried to get NGC to add more segments, like Collector's Universe has, but with no luck. Maybe the future will be kind to us.
Oh, BTW: Welcome aboard.

you will get more interaction if you post in the US coin or newbie section of the forum not here in the registry section.

There are quite enough gimmicky things in this hobby already.
Well said. The sad part is that this has been going on for decades and shows no intention of stopping.

Price will also depend on 1. Confederate States Issue or 2. Louisiana Issue or 3. United States Issue. The Confederates often go high and Louisiana Issue about $500.00 to $700.00.

I own a couple SS Republic coins. Most, graded by NGC, are labeled 'Shipwreck Effect' meaning they were in the ocean a while. As Coinbuf said: What's the letter"?
i.e.: 1861-O S.S. Republic W-04A

That sure is quite a find.

For coins or for all other grading items ?
All I know is people are reporting the delay in 'coin' grading. Haven't submitted any currency lately so I don't know about that.

The two major TPGs are backed up; of that there is no doubt. Sent in 3 submissions ATS and two were completed and returned four weeks ago. The third has just now moved from Grading to Encapsulation. I suppose we have no recorse but to accept 'missing, lost, misplaced, back order, etc. etc.

In the Merkers Mine in Germany there were recovered 711 bags of United States $20.00 gold coins. It was reported: "Perera informed Barrett that the principal items in gold and currency at Merkers were 8,198 standard gold bars, 711 bags of twenty-dollar gold pieces, etc. etc." Anyone with any ideas as to what 'really' happened to all that loot; please tell us.

I think there are 'slow downs' as well as 'speed ups' with collectors of any type. The COVID money is running out, buyers are spending on other priorities, etc.
