Jgrinz - Thank you very much for your reply and info.  I agree that it is not a scarface but I guess I will have it checked out for a VAM when I send it in to be graded. Maybe I'll get lucky.

As for the toning, my father has had this in his safe in the garage since the 70's.  It has been in the Savings and Loans case ever since then.  I am assuming, the Texas heat and cold over the years caused the toning.  As you can see in my next photo, the Peace didn't tone well, but the two morgans in the red cases have similar toning.  All the Morgans in the blue cases have the similar toning as well. The morgan in the savings and loan paper holder didn't tone at all.

    Thanks again for your time.

My question to you would be WHY certify … the way they are right now have so much more history and are way TOO C00l~!

Yep heat and cold and that cardboard will do it … similar to coin book toning. Enjoy them

  2. Actually I like this coin for a 62 with these pictures / better pictures I may change my mind :-)

The hair strands are still there above there ear.

I think you guys are seeing the offset of the tone - I dont think it is wear

I do not see any OBVIOUS signs of cleaning

Nice bag tone to the obverse - showing a nice lay of another coin on it.

Breast feathering is complete with minor if any wear - and wings tips are perfect.

This is a VAM - "low zero" type but pictures definitely are not good enough for identification.

    I like it

I agree. They need to take it off the software for Details coins. I actually have 2 TopPop coins that are straight graded and they have no others at the same grade - yes, two TopPop NoEqual coins. Think that's impressive??? You shouldn't! They are coins almost no one else would submit for grading. I submitted them for a very specific non-economic reason and they just both happened to come back PF70. The highest previous were PF69. Whose are better? I cannot swear mine are. That's the way grading works sometimes. It doesn't always mean what you'd think it means. [They were U.K. coins and the 3rd party grading fetish has not yet gotten to the insane point it has here. There are probably thousands of P70's out there still raw.]

Oh come on .. I think they should start the second to top pop and third …

    Yes I jest

Just checking: Are we still allowed to say this in this hobby??? Sometimes it seems like toning is getting jammed down my throat, and I don't really care for it. "Eye Appeal"? To whom, exactly? Yecch!

Ditto - it has to be really amazing for me to appreciate toning in general.

Oh yea professional level polishing there

    :-)

Question, if I want to start sending coins in to get authenticated, can I leave them in a 2x2 cardboard flip. Or do I need to have a special flip.

You may find unless you have an extreme rarity it may not be cost effective to do so..

Mark it on the 2x2 DOO and version # and start a nice 2x2 book with all your findings. IMHO
