  1. How do you come up with “supposedly, there are only 3...” when there are 5 showing on the NGC census report?
  2. The coins are worth approximately 10 cents, each.
  3. The coin looks to be genuine and approximately AU58. I think it would be a waste of money to get it graded and would say the same, even if it looked like an MS61.
  4. Bobby, appealing or not, the color doesn’t look natural, which is any I guessed questionable color/cleaned. I’m not picking on the coin, just trying to provide a hopefully-helpful assessment.
  5. I wouldn’t make such a statement, based just on an image. Whizzing and cleaning aren’t always apparent in images. And I can’t tell anything by viewing your avatar.
  6. Typically, when a coin’s been whizzed, it’s over the entire surface area. Since the process is used to simulate mint luster, there’s not really a good reason to alter just a small portion of the coin.
  7. I’ll go with Unc. Details, Obv. Scratched and/or Questionable Color/Cleaned
  8. I’m not sure what you mean by error “fanbois”. But there are numerous error collectors and dealers who are extremely reliable sources of information.
  9. Proof is a method of manufacture. And condition, including spots, has nothing to do with that.
  10. Why would you have any doubt about the coin being a Proof?
  11. If the area is raised, how could it be a strike through?
  12. That’s either a copy or a genuine coin with a horribly manipulated image. Either way, it’s certainly not a good thing.
  13. On a practical basis, I don’t see much exposure at all. As you correctly pointed out, the grading companies are the ones who get to decide whether they’ve over-graded the coins. And what options does the submitter of the coin really have if he disagrees with the grading company’s (“we got it right”) determination?
  14. Should they? Of course not. Do they? In many instances, it certainly appears so.
  15. Yes, last night’s session ended with Kennedy halves and tonight’s session started with Bust dollars. Here’s a link to the information page for the sale, with session days/times, lot numbers, etc.: https://coins.ha.com/c/auction-home.zx?saleNo=132213
  16. I had the same reaction when I viewed the images.
  17. I was just alerted to this thread, so checked the results from last night’s session. If anything happened on our end, it’s not apparent to me. I viewed prices realized, including through the last lot that was listed and sold last night, seemingly as scheduled. I have copied that information below. If there had been an issue, while there’s no guarantee I would have heard about it, chances are very good that I would have. Whatever the cause of the problem, I’m sorry you experienced it. 18. Liberty’s hair detail looks better in the above picture than it did in the first one. So I’ll retract my previous AU50 guess and abstain from guessing. I just don’t feel like I have a good enough idea of what the coin actually looks like.
  19. It’s possible to SAY it, but it’s by no means, a given that it’s correct.
  20. Of those three coins, to me, the only one that looks deserving of the cameo designation is the Morgan Dollar.
