  1. I will post something on this thread once everyday so it stays in the window of visibility and does not get lost three or four pages back mostly because I believe this will work.
  2. As I just said a joy to read, perfect. Stick around here and you will learn from some of the best people in the world of coins. Some are creative some are skilled and some may come off as critical but one thing they all do, and well, is help you get to the point you want to be. Some of us are older than dirt and yet we still try to learn everyday. I am more of a reader than a writer so I sometimes sit back and try to keep my learning in a forward motion. Never give up the quest. The people on this forum are, in my opinion, the finest in the world and that includes our host, NGC.
  3. Sharann, I must say that I enjoy reading your posts a great deal. I see that excitement and enthusiasm with a serious thirst for knowledge sprinkled with humor that often gets lost. Please never lose touch with these as this is what makes your posts so much fun to read. Thank you sincerely.
  4. This is a wonderful start. Perhaps we have all to soon forgotten ProfHaroldHill randon act of kindness at Christmas and the inspiration we saw with his grandsons exceptional vision to give beyond the initial giveaway. Lets all carry on this concept and take advantage of an opportunity to touch a Childs life in coins. Thank you for your inspiration Woods020.
  5. Stranger thing have happened and are well documented, I hope you find something good. I would bet the post would be wonderful to read.
  6. We as a group see family collectors on this forum mention the enjoyment they get trying to get their children excited about coins and the collecting there of. Some affluent collectors and some with less ability to get something for their children. All those people that we see are trying to get children interested. Like you said it it doesn't have to be a best in class coin but something to move them. We could pick people from their posts or however we wanted to. My only concern would be trolling by people who see an opportunity but to make a child gain interest I would be willing to take that risk. If I had not been gifted a coin at the ripe old age of 8 I my never had known the joy of coins and collecting. I already have someone in mind that probably would be my first choice. I have said this before but I have never sold one coin in my life but I have given to children and occasionally adults when I see something that could excite them to the coin realm. Set it in motion and I am in. If you want me to go first say but the word. We don't have to post what or to whom we give and the recipient does not have to post if they choose not to. I would not participate to gain likes or recognition as I prefer anonymity in these matters but anyone can do what they want. (Free will and free choice ) My opinion.
  7. This thread needs to be seen and hopefully gains momentum . As we all know the children are our future.
  8. I have only worms and some weeds. I would like to find something someday. Vert interesting find. RWB is correct and once again giving great insight. Congratulations.
  9. It does not matter what you paid. If you like the coin and you want it it is worth whatever you are willing to pay. It is a splendid coin with great eye appeal. Enjoy the coin for what is worth to you and your collection.. Just my opinion.
  10. This is a very generous proposal. I am sure long term collectors have duplicates and stashed coins that could be given up to help young children get excited about collecting coins. I would participate in this kind of endeavor. This would have my strong support. Congratulations on a novel idea that is needed to inspire interest.
  11. The 1909 V.D.B. is one of my favorite Cents. These are some gorgeous examples. I love these pictures.
  12. Thank you , As always you are on top of everything. I appreciate all you do.
  13. I would 2nd that nomination and bow to your suggestion I being the common man.
  14. Since the update today on the collector society page I cannot log out of my account unless I am doing something wrong ? I hit log out and I still stay logged in. Please let me know if it is me.
  15. You post excellent pictures. I am still waiting on lessons from my granddaughter ( she is 11 and quite skilled ).
  16. Certainly we are all winging it here and there needs to be some organization. I agree with what bsshog40 is saying. There has to be someone on this forum with organizational skills to set it up. That would not be me. I believe given the right structure it would be beneficial to all collectors new and seasoned alike. Long time collectors find themselves with duplicates as they improve their collections as do newbies which presents an opportunity to trade out or up. Don't know the best way to set it up but I would definitely participate. Just my opinion.
  17. Worcester , I have relatives outside of Worcester. Loved the Cape.
  18. Welcome to the forum, the best of the best. Relax and enjoy . I t is always interesting and informative.
  19. Listen to Maulemall as his advice is sound and embrace your situations, fight like hell. Accept the fact that your wife is probably way stronger than you give her credit for. If your enemy detects weakness you will not win. Just my opinion.
  20. My parents and the Marines taught me respect at all times, most of my life I thought that Sir or Ma'am was the first word in every conversation. If it wasn't then look out.
  21. My parents and the Marine Corp both taught me respect at all times ( for everyone) or else it was going to be hard lesson learned and I mean hard lesson learned.
  22. Most of the time I look at how much I want an item and the price is inconsequential sometimes good for me and sometimes awful for me. I was buying coins before you could look things up other than books. I guess old habits die hard. True though.
  23. Age is showing by some of the posts in this thread
  24. This would almost exclude me as the internet is mostly unknown to me, thankfully I have a grand-daughter who is well versed but not always available.🤣.
