  1. Had some fun on eBay this afternoon. Thanks Mark for letting me

keep aware of the new postings. I have let a few things slip by.

Today - our friend, JT, had a few nice Quarters up on the BIN / BO.

I picked out one date that I needed for the collection that I did not

have - and I also picked up a few that were not needed, but were too

    nice to pass on.

Images once I pry the IPad out of my hands. If this thing had a few more

capabilities, I'd get rid of the lap top. I have already disconnected the Desk

Top. ( Which hadn't been opened in years !! )

This is the 173,000 th Hit on this thread !!

  2.

Bill... Thanks for sharing your only Barber; it's getting really nice

rim toning. I would imagine that it's part of your type set. Nice look.

Mark... Knowing how busy you are getting things straightened out

up North before the move to the Deep South, I want to congratulate

you on picking up some very nice coins as of late. Glad to see you

are having fun with your coins.

I think once I locate one more of my old Quarters that was sold under

neath me in error - I very well may be done with the Quarter set. My

    plan was not to include the " big 3 " ( 96-S, 01-S and the 13-S ) and

now, I have added the 09-O to the mix. If you are lucky to locate an 09-O,

it's going to be a lower end one with a huge premium attached. So, knowing

that this date is hoarded by a few individuals, I won't be playing that game.

I am fine with that. In the long run, I think I'll be doing a Date Set anyway

with color. I have some unbelievable toners already... but being a series set

collector by nature, I automatically slide into "full set mode" quite easily.

  3.

An old friend is coming back home. I sold this in August, 2011 -

and repurchased it this evening, The seller finally listened to

reason - and accepted my offer.

Last year, the seller said he paid dearly for the coin because

of the toning - and I agreed with him - it sold for good money

but the price was max'd out for the coin. He wouldn't budge on

the price then. Today, I told him, either make a small profit - or

sit and look at the coin another 2 & 1/2 years. He finally listened

    to reason.

I had this coin CAC'd before selling it - the images are 3+ Yrs old.

  4. I've been having an interesting couple of days in Atlanta

at the ANA Money Show. Today I picked up a sparkling

Barber Quarter in a PCGS 61 holder. I have no clue as to

    why it's not in a MS 64 holder !!

    No images of it yet.

I also picked up a truly unusual toned 1892 Half in an AU 50

holder; although I have a few of this date, I could not help my-

self, I knew I had to get this coin.

( It doesn't attach, so, I'll add the images on Sunday when I return home. )

Seller provided me with images. Much better that I could ever accomplish !!

  5. Thanks, I really enjoy the series.

Yes, I have picked up some nice coins along the way.

I wish I had never taken a hiatus from collecting for 20

years, I missed out on some nice things at (today's)

    reasonable prices.

Assembling numerous sets has given me a sense of

accomplishment and I continue to have a passion for

    the series.

  6. I just opened a Thread on The Marketbasket.

I have consigned my two major Barber Mint Errors,

the 1895-O Dime Die Cap - PCGS 64 and my 1898

Quarter Die Cap with Full Reverse Brockage - PCGS 62.

Both coins are listed in Mike Byers book, " World's

Greatest Mint Errors" , pages 46 and 47.

Both coins will be at lot viewing starting Wednesday

at the ANA Early Spring Show in Atlanta, at the Cobb

Galleria Convention Center. Viewing on Wednesday will

be from 11:00 AM - to - 6:00 PM, ET. Thursday's lot viewing

will be 8:00 AM - to - 6:00 PM. Followed immediately by the

auction itself. There are 700 coins in this evening's auction,

so I can not gauge the approximate time these lots will cross

    the block.

The coins are being auctioned off on Thursday,

    February 27 - at Heritage's Premiere Night -

and are lots #3820 (Dime) and #3866 (Quarter).

I realize this is not the appropriate forum to list

Items for sale, and I apologize in advance, it will

never happen again. However, these coins are

so unusual, they deserve all the attention I can give

    them.

My images will be posted shortly. Thank you for your

    indulgence.

Images to be added once I am off the iPad and can get them onto

    Photobucket and transferred here !!

Take my word for it, you're gonna like the look of this coin !!

EDIT: Adding an AU 58 of 1897-P for the collection - the MS is for the

    Date Set.....

Mesmerizing Dime. Thx for sharing it.

I have been neglectful as of late to bumping this Thread.

It now has just over 167,132 hits !!

I added a few coins recently - these two at auction:

I have two more Halves coming - but will wait before I post them.

Also one Dime - that I thought stunning. I'd like to have the Dime removed

from its case - and have the REV on the front.

    Images of the Dime forthcoming.
