    First it is.......then it isn't.
    Hello everyone!
Well it's another weekend at NCS and NGC for a few of my submissions.
It seems they are either scheduled for evaluation or scheduled for grading.
Last week one from NCS went to NGC, scheduled for grading. Later it was in quality control. This weekend it's back in "scheduled for grading" again? I guess the fresh ocean breezes will do wonders for them.
I never really worried much about these coins until they took over a week to get to NGC. I can almost walk there in a week.
I guess I got excited when I saw one actually made it to NGC.(This is my first time using NCS).
I wish I had not gotten a manicure, as I have chewed them off to the first knuckle.
Maybe good news next month? I can only hope.
No one want's all my $1 commems? 10,000 points and more.
    Have a great weekend!

At least the strapless penny was right.
    Hello everyone!
It all came to pass. If you've followed my last two weeks of journals, you,ll be right on top of this.
My KM13-A NZ, 1d Penny, is now just a plain 1945 penny. That's two they blew.
I sent either a PL or PF, 1945, to NCS for fingerprint removal. They did a great job. It does look nice, however, it's got a purple slab.....yup. It's polished. Gee, my eyes are playing tricks on me. I guess I have to send all my proofs back to be relabeled? They're polished too. New Zealand did have a proof penny in 1945. Krause says so. That's number two.
Third travesty is a 1942, NZ, 3d "one"dot", three pence. I sent it to NCS because it had a black spot on the reverse. Again, they did a great job. The spot is gone. The coin looks VF-AU. It got the VF. OK....no problem there. The problem is, I sent it to be evaluated and conserved. It was($20). It was sent to NGC for grading.
Guess what? Yup, the rubber stamp "excessive surface hairlines"
excuse. They work wonders on 1000 year old, half eaten away, corroded, coins they can't identify, and all of a sudden it is graded by NGC in a real label? I was born at night, but NOT LAST NIGHT!!
The upper left corner is out of the slot too. Gee, send it back, and we'll fix it "no charge." Another $12-$20 in postage, and the chance two lemons, and a lipstick show up for reholdering....no thanks.
Next, I try to enter this beauty into the Registry. I tried from 11:00 this morning. Not in their data base? I have the coin in my hand, but they don't have it listed?
Minor setback. I know Lisa and Amy will fix it.
OK, next! My 1965 NZ 6d(yes 6d, these are not British 6P)"broken wing" was evaluated and"conserved." You got it! Another VF and the same rubber stamp. Time to clean the cobwebs off the magnifying glass. They seem to be stuck on the VF too.
WOW! Now we come to the tough one. I could argue the grade, but won't. It's the last one. A 1956, NZ 1D,"no shoulder strap." Hey, they got it right this time. It looks good, and it is registered in my set. I took images for all to see.
Now,lets go back a few journals, and look at predictions. I said the label would get changed. I said I was at the mercy of NGC because these are all"variety" coins. I not only paid for conservation, but paid again for "grading." It's about $40.00 without the $40 postage both ways. All that came true.
I mentioned when the system went down on Friday, that they'd ship out my coins with no imaging, and before I could complain.
Bingo! Friday was the 11th. Postmark on 2 boxes- 9/10 and 9/11.
Well, the Post Office delivered them this morning. All five slabbed coins. Now for the best part. Another premonition?
I rush in to image these beauties for everyone to see. I did this first. Next I enter the Registry(finally working) to get them registered. I put in the number and ooops. Not in the data base. I do it again to make certain dyslexia isn't to blame. Same thing, nothing. I tried all the rest. Same thing. I can't register, image, or enter a description. That's odd, I never had this problem. I go to the NGC certification checker, and the number is no good there either. I got the grades off the slabs.
No wonder. I now check "Order Status." They are still scheduled for grading. Now I dial the phone.
A pleasant voice named Lisa......thank goodness for Lisa answered, and here we go. She has to make a call to check. That didn't work, but now it has to go to Amy. Thank goodness for Amy too. Within a few minutes, I was typing and uploading images.
Finally! The sun came out at my house......until.
I get to the 1942, and here we are again....not in the data base.
    That will be OK tomorrow.
Now comes the reason for this essay.
Not counting the cost of five major variety coins, this cost me about $200.00. Five coins, and four aren't what they are? One, they adamantly refuse to grade, unless it's pristine. Why are there points for lower than MS then? Hmmmmmmm?
I liked the body bag system. Now I have to use the vise and hammer method. A few of you asked if I was having problems. Not really. I have solutions.
I will do like some members. Buy the coin graded. Don't submit anything that is less than pristine, or not in OGP. It's amazing that the 2009 proof pennies got "environmental damage" right out of the box. They're terrible.
I still have about 20 Canada coins to grade, and chase Greywolf, but I think he's safe. I'm out of grading bucks.
It's time for me to re-evaluate too.
I hope none of you go through this disaster. I know some have, and some others still are.
I look at the odds. If I sent 100 coins to NCS and only 20 graded, I could have retired.
I will finish my set. 100% is just that. It's a shame some don't have a clue what 100% is.
On a bright note, maybe. I am happy Todd didn't have to pay for his coins not getting graded. I've been there too. The COA is as important as the coin sometimes. I tried to get a few with the extra line for description, but that line is reserved for vain collectors, or details descriptions.
    Excuses with no results.
    Have a great week folks.
You earned it if you read all the way to here.

I knew I put it in a safe place.
    Hi all!
I have been in my coin room for 3 hours looking for a teensey, weensey coin. At least I think it's a coin. I told you in a previous journal I had one that I wanted to send to NGC. With all that's going on, I am hesitant. If it is a real coin, I should let NCS evaluate it. Maybe conserve it so it will grade at NGC?
I am here to ask some help before I spend money on a potential loser.
Can anyone identify this for me? I know it's old, but not how old. No mint mark either. I don't have any books to ID it, so it's up to you. It looks like silver, and is about 10mm.
Next point is this. If you know what it is, and if it were yours, would you submit it?
I guess that's it in a nutshell. One in fifteen thousand should know. Here's hoping.
    Thank you in advance.

  4. namvette68
    Is it payback?
    Hello all!
I guess if I can't get into the site, I can't see what they are doing to my coins. They'll all be graded and shipped before I can call them to complain. If they are so far behind, why won't they hire? I need a job.
It's a good thing I read Dena's post. I thought for a minute she was talking about the graders.
    That's all folks
  5. namvette68
I'd like to take another minute of your time.
    Hello everyone!
I'd like to thank everyone that has corresponded with me over this details grading issue, and points changes. I have grown to admire a few of the members that post journals. I want to thank everyone for the positive support. Not a negative email from any of you? Even my competitors have sent a nice note.
I'd like to keep it that way.
I am proud of my coins, and I am proud of the friendship the Society has nurtured.
I only tell it like it is.
    Thank you my friends
  6. namvette68
    Oh yeah......I think I remember.
    Hello all,
I love this place. I just remembered all the FVF, and listing fees, and the extra imaging fees, and not selling a thing unless I'd ship for free, and sell for ten cents on the dollar. I went to eBid and have had decent results........for free, forever.
Well, back to the point. Ebay is a great place to waste your money listing all the purple tagged slabs from NCS/NGC. In less than two weeks the place is flooded with some very nice, and diverse coins. You'd never see them raw, but all of a sudden the market is flooded. I guess now you can buy a certified authentic coin at half price?
We were told a change was coming. It's my change that's going.
This is my week. Six coins went from NCS(I wanted them to be sure I had graders)to NGC. One lost it's description, and I already know not to expect a grade any higher than a VF40. My other variety coins may suffer too. If it's the first to be graded and has a high point potential, it has purple slab time written all over it. Oh how I'd love to be proved wrong, but.
PCGS and eBid. What a great combination. It's simple economics.
I guess I am lucky. I only sell my extra stuff. My sets aren't going anywhere but higher.
I hope all of your sets are destined to go higher too.
    Until next time.

I guess someone slammed the door too hard on the rush out?
    Guess who?
    Here's the topper:
Your previous action has generated an error. An email has been sent to the webmaster.
I guess I'm going to lose points with the webmaster too?
    Adios amigos

  8. namvette68
I hate to say "I told you so"............but
    Hi Everyone!
A short note this time. In my post about imaging, I entered the lines directly from the NGC page with both coins numbered and labeled. I stated it wouldn't last long.
    It didn't.
It is now a plain 1945, as predicted. "It's too tough to grade"
is NGC's retort. If we can't grade it, we eliminate it.
They've seen two of these KM13-A coins so far, and still no one has seen a difference? I have done MY homework.
The first is now finally imaged. See for yourself.
    3297558-001 is the number.
If you have time, see what you find wrong with 2756910-005. I am not questioning the grade. The NCG scan isn't as nice as the coin, but it ain't bad.
I'll have them back soon, I hope.
I now have my first #1 set at PCGS. I couldn't Imagine getting my Waitangi Crown back in a purple slab.
Oh.....the NGC lookup tool is conveniently, NOT WORKING.
    Have a great weekend!

It makes no sense to me
    Hello everyone!
My purple Coroner's tagged coins get only half points. They aren't good enough to get real grades.
When coins that are graded get half points, it makes me think twice about getting the pristine 1855 Australian half sovereign graded.
I lost 34 points this week. My set suffered a setback....of sorts. I do try hard to make these sets.
When you lose not only points, but rank.....something is amiss.
Five thousand points would eliminate a few of my #1 sets completely. I happen to like the competition in the Society. I happen to like my competitors. If I were to pass someone due to their set being reduced in points, I would reconsider my place in the rankings.
Lately it's been tough for me to get any "variety" world coins graded. Purple slabs are becoming commonplace. I couldn't imagine these getting a lower score during an "update".
I know the point loss is one thing. The time, effort, and expense to achieve the original score is what makes no sense.
Great coins are hard enough to find. It's a shame they have to suffer from "point degradation" syndrome too!
My condolences to all that have been affected. Aren't we all affected?
This news did not make my day.
I am truly sorry if I ruined yours.
    Peace!

    Here's what they look like?
    Hi everyone!
A few slabs(appropriately named)came back today. I imaged the QEII, New Zealand pennies, and they are looking quite good.
The 1945 NZ George VI looks good, even though it lost the"British flan", KM-13A, pedigree. They must have hit delete on that line of the label. It's now in a slot though. I won't argue the grade. My "backup" coin is there now.
LineItem Year Mint Mark Variety/Pedigree Denom. NCS Grade NCS Comments NGC Invoice Number NGC Grade NGC Comments
    001 1945 NEWZEALAND KM-13A PENNY 3324801
    002 1965 NEWZEALAND BROKEN WING 6P 3324801
As you can see the 1945 variety does have an NGC number. We'll see in a few days. There's the "P" thing too. Why can't they even copy the submission form right?
I added an image to yesterday's post. It's the new "Coroner's Tag" you get instead of a body bag. The mortuary will soon be a great place to visit. I haven't even tried to enter them.
Today's image will be another fiasco.
I picked up a 1934 NZ 3d from a dealer that broke them from a roll. Almost every one had at least one die crack. This is very common with the NZ 3d. All I wanted was it to be graded as what it is. The image in yesterday's post will show you why I am upset. It was a UNC/BU coin. Excessive hair lines? No mention of either die crack. One at about 4:00 and a smaller around 8:00.
OK.....the smaller one IS minor, but the other is there. NGC will not label it a a die crack. "Too minor, not recognized". This isn't a US coin where everyone votes on the "errors".
I guess it has to be a Silver Eagle, or a Presidential dollar to be major? The coin is smaller than our dime. It won't have a die crack with a route number.
Even the label is incorrect.....both as a matter of fact.
    It's labeled as a 3P. It's a 3d. My 6d is now a 6P too. So much for an accurate description.
Out of the eight I got back today, four are basically worthless.
If I were in the major leagues, a .500 batting average would be unsurpassed. 100% of my money went to sending them to be evaluated and described as what they are. I have them back, and they are mine. The labels have been changed to protect something.
I liked the body bag thing better. Now I have to go out in the shop and put them in the vise.
As soon as I can complete this set, I will be done. New Zealand and circulated coins just don't work.
I will resume my quest for the perfect PF69 $20 Canada set. Only a select few get 70s. The prejudice, here too, is overwhelming.
Hey.....feel free to look at my questionable sets. I do image them for all to see.
Take a look at this and just go, hmmmmmmmm?
If I seem a little upset. You're right. I get to do this on $770.00 a month.
    Have a great day!
P.S. I just added the two purple beauties into their respective slots. I hope the scans are adequate to prove my point.

In by 9:00, out by 5:00
    Hello everyone!
At a little after 09:00 this morning, NCS sent my NZ 1d KM-13A and "broken wing" 6d to NGC for grading. They were received by NGC, and labeled as what they were. Around 17:00(5:00PM), my second "British flan",(KM-13A)disappeared.
    GONE!!!
It is now just another plain old "run of the mill" 1945 penny.
As one can see a "broken wing" variety, it may get graded as such. My 1934 NZ, 3d, uncirculated(out of a roll), double die crack, was body bagged. Excessive hair lines?......this one is getting old.
I guess my circulation coins are destined for the purple slab?
If this elusive(nonexistent to NGC)1945 coin is so tough to find and even harder to grade, it should have at least a 5,000 point score if they ever grade one. They actually have a score for a coin less than MS. However, they cannot grade any specimen less than UNC. A strapless coin(easy to see) gets top billing. There is even a star point boost around a MS63?
This coin was made to be ugly.
I now have 4 "British flan" coins. Two are now plain KM13, graded by NGC.
One I gave, yes gave, to Papamesa. One is at PCGS, and the other is still here in a flip.
If you're like me and try to build complete sets, this 1940-1952 NZ 1d set isn't one for a beginner. As I see it, it's not even one for "experts".
    So much for diversification.
My coins that have been graded, are still not imaged. They were done almost 3 weeks ago. Supposedly they were mailed on 9-3. I do admit I am happy with them, but would like to see them.
Thanks for all the friendly emails. Thanks for letting me know I am not alone in this. Thank goodness I printed everything out. It may come in handy.
"The measure of any great collection is dictated by the PASSION of the collector". Sound familiar? NGC homepage?
Excuse me for being passionate about my coins.
Thanks to all and have a good week.
Here is what the new "Coroner's Tag"looks like. It seems like the varieties are stumping them. Even the labels are incorrect.
It's a 6d on the left and a 3d on the right. Musta been a typo?

  12. namvette68
I should have volumes to say...........but
    Hi folks,
I have five coins in F/I/S(almost 2 weeks), and no imaging. They received nice grades, but I would like to see what they look like.
Is anyone else seeing a delay in their coins being imaged? I was hoping to have them this week, but I have others, and I bet they are waiting for them to be graded before shipping the lot.
I guess it makes economic sense.
I have 2 at NCS being evaluated. Both are world coin varieties, and who knows what they'll do.
Well, I am hoping to have a few images to look at soon. I always try to get them scanned for everyone to see, but it's taking a bit longer this time.
I almost sent my $20 Canadian proof "plasma" coin, but NGC doesn't do them. What a shame......it's ice blue laser etching.
Well, here's hoping I 'll have something to show soon. I hope you all find something too.
This picture is worth a lot more than 1000 words. Mintage? 1,128.

  13. namvette68
    Enough isn't enough......it's too much.
    Hello all!
Well, the verdict is in. I cannot afford to send coins to be graded and have them either not graded as what they are, or body bagged.
My KM13-A 1d, now, does not exist. There is a Registry slot for it though. My uncirculated 1934(out of a roll) New Zealand threepence with a double die crack, is neither cracked, nor any good. It looked like a proof coin when I sent it to them(NCS)for evaluation. Nope....excessive hair lines. I guess that means these sets will be impossible to complete too?
I went out of my way, and way out of my budget, to have a nice set of NGC coins. No more. NGC has gotten all the money out of me they ever will. It's a shame. Thousands of dollars for great coins. Hundreds of hours doing reference and research work. I wanted to be sure everything was as it should. After 3 months, with this variety of coin, I am now told they won't grade it. It's too tough to certify. "NGC does not recognize the variety". Now's a fine time to blurt that out! "NGC will not put their name on a coin unless they can certify it as what it is".
My coins at NCS are now a waste. They don't(or cannot) conserve them, and one isn't even recognized. It just dropped off the face of the earth.
Krause should refrain from giving coins that cannot be identified, a number for identification. NGC's bible has a few flaws.
I can't wait to see what my last five uncirculated pennies come back from NGC as. I already paid, so who knows. I bet NCS sends all mine back in purple. They made sure one "key" coin missed the "new" program by a day. Now if I send it in again, they'll grade it? I don't think so....crack it out and send it elsewhere.
    Hey....it's only money.
I guess my standards are too high?
My shoebox will be full by next week.....no more grading(or non grading) fees. No more looking for coins that don't exist. I worked hard, studied harder, and spent wisely, and now nothing.
I wish you all better treatment than I receive. I guess I have to buy coins already graded from now on?
I met a lot of nice people and dealers in New Zealand, Australia, and Canada, while researching these coins. I have learned a great deal from them, and members of this Society.
My treatment by Lisa, Amy, and Sarah is the most pleasant and professional. They have all either tried, or done their best. I only wish NGC were more like them.
Oh.....I listed the coin that doesn't exist. It went from ED to a VF. I'll have it back soon.....I hope. At least it will be there for everyone to see. It made me the #2 set in the Registry.
    WOOOOHOOOO.....behind another coin that doesn't exist......yet.
Happy collecting folks.....I will miss a bunch of you.
I may be back with more....sooner than you think.
P.S. The coin on the left? It doesn't exist.

    FeeBay is a losing proposition
    Hi all!
Just a short addendum to Paul's journal.
A few of us abandoned FeeBay almost 2 months ago. We aren't looking back. I paid the $49.99 for a lifetime of free listings and no FV fees. You may list in several ways and get up to 5 images, per listing, as Paul said. Free T shirt too!
Personally I have had more good sales, with no fees I didn't ask for. I have a lot more people looking too.
Here's the link to see or join:
    http://us.ebid.net/perl/normal.cgi?ref=760460&mo=register-main
Paul saved the signup fee(seller+)for much less than a month's fees at the other.
More perks too! If you have coins, or sets to sell, you can list them here until they sell......for free!
I'm there....even some of your friends may be there. I know Paul is just another member that got fed up with feeding the bigger "E".
Just click on the red oval that's labeled "join". You won't be sorry.
eBid is meant for everyone....even if you only want to look.
The next time your 10 coins don't sell, and you relist them with feeBay.....you'll remember our journals?
Get more value for your bucks.....it's a bit more than one coin grading. Be among friends!
    I'm a quitter too.
I received a few emails already, and I will admit that eBid isn't for everyone. $49.99 may seem like a lot. It isn't.
EBid may not have the base as ebay, but you are exposed to the world. I also can work with a buyer or seller without being questioned about policy. For a few bucks you can join just as a "buyer".
Hey.....do that, and buy a few of my coins. You may find something you can't on eBay.
A few asked me about it months ago. Less joined. Now, more members have opened their eyes and closed the wallet. Use the money you save to grade that special coin. Your money should be invested in coins. Pay grading fees with saved listing and FV fees. You'll see!
By the way, my next set is in QC.
Have a great day......and welcome to eBid, Paul, Jay, and a few others.

I am going to dump my shoebox out and submit the first coin I find!
    Hello all!
I have 5 "modern" world coins at NCS for eval and/or conservation.
I have more on the way too.
I just remembered about an old shoe box I stashed away, and a beautiful "coin" I thought was junk.
After realizing I know nothing about condition, I'll send in this "junker" and see. I have no idea what it is, but then again, I am not the expert.
My NZ penny set is starting to take shape. Five nice Unc/BU reds to NGC for grading.
Here's to all the nice coins you are finding. Jackson's Eagle is looking good. I have a few toning, but nowhere near as nice.
Well folks, that wraps it up for now!
    Good Luck and Happy Collecting

  16. namvette68
NCS Registry points and a Harvard education have something in common!
    Hi everyone!
I completely understand the concept now.
You can graduate with the big boys with only 50% of the grades.
    Sounds very familiar.
I see it now. A Harvard grad with"Environmental Damage".
Oh......I sent one of my body bagged coins to a very high up forensics lab. My silver coin had a surface rust stain? I am guilty of rusty silver too?
They told me how to remove it.....I did......I will now see if it grades. I may have mastered alchemy after all.
I am guessing it an MS62. PCGS may be only a 61.
    Wish me luck?
If anyone in the Society is a Mensa member, would you kindly contact me?
Thanks to all, and to all a Good Night!

  17. namvette68
I guess I have to do this on my own too?
    Hey everyone!
My eyes are so tired of looking at coins for submission.
Will they grade this? Will this not pass? Why did that green spot have to be on such a pretty coin?
    Bah.....humbug!
I have to buy several coins to find one suitable for evaluation?
    WOW! There goes the budget.
I guess with the older circulated coins, it is almost a necessity to do this?
I got burned severely on my last NGC submission, so I am trying a different approach.........EVALUATION.
Yesiree Bob, I am sending the questionable coins to NCS first.
My 30x magnifier finds a lot of "stuff". I hate "stuff".
If I even think NGC will reject my submission, I'm sending it to NCS first. If they say it passes, so be it. Off to NGC directly. It's worth the few extra bucks.
On the other hand. If a coin doesn't make it, I have at least have a shot at conserving it first, and then off to NGC.
No more back and forth in the mail, paying postage and insurance, several times for a service. There's also a chance of losing coins in the process........OUCH!
Insured or not, I want MY coins.
OK, I spoke with Daniell at NCS. She's as nice as the folks at NGC. After a few questions, I think I have it figured out. She was so very helpful and understanding.
Well, I sent a few in as a trial. I have about a half dozen more to go.
I personally don't want to have anything in NCS slabs, but eventually I may have to accept it on some of the more scarce "variety" coins.
Fully graded sets look so much nicer!
Well, I am hoping this will add value to my sets and eliminate the waste of time, and funds, on "also ran" submissions.
I am trying to fill in the empty slots where the "body bagged" coins were to go. Let's hope that evaluation first, avoids devaluation in the end.
If this works, you'll see a few nice specimens coming soon(4-6 weeks).
I guess I'll start looking for a job, as this is going to run up the bill somewhat.
May everyone enjoy the nice sets they have.
    Happy Collecting!

I want the Sham-wow guy to do this one!
    Hello all!
    OK......I have the third known 1933 Saint-Gaudens $20 piece.
It is BU and never been touched by human hands.
The trouble is that it was on a shelf in the musty old warehouse for the last 76 years, and it has some really nasty, black and green spots all over it.
I want it graded, so off to NCS and we'll wait. Oooops.....it's got the dreaded ED. NGC won't grade a coin with ED.
    OK.....let's settle for "details grading".
What do I get out of it?
A gold coin. A purple slab. No points because they don't have a slot for them. Oh......and a lousy 3.5 million dollar coin because it's not perfect. You'd think I could get at least 4 million, but it's been blackballed forever.
If it can't slab with the "big boys", put it in a Whitman album and save it for the Grandkids?
You could toss it across the Potomac?
Maybe not, you might get busted for polluting.
Let NCS start their own Registry of problem coins, and make it stand alone from NGC. Have a point system according to the problem and severity. An "Environmentally Damaged 58"? An "Improperly cleaned 30"? Let the graduated point system work there too? It may not be the answer, but it is a suggestion.
Problem coins may just have received the solution!
    Operators are standing by.

Is this as common as a 1948 New Zealand Penny?
    Hello everyone!
I have encounterd a coin to which I have no reference to.
I was told it was listed as a variety in Clapman's Catalog of New Zealand Coin Varieties.
I cannot find any such thing. No ISBN # either.
    Anyone?
It is not that I wish to own this coin, but I would like to be more knowledgable.
If anyone has a copy, has heard of the catalog, or knows anything, I would like to hear from you.
This may be just a 1948 NZ penny. Perhaps it is hidden along with the 1992 $15 Canada Olympic plain edge coins.
Anyway........if you have anything useful, I would like the enlightenment.
    My latest acquisition?
    A 1942 NZ 3d "one dot". It's pretty decent for it's age.
Also a 1934 NZ 3d Uncirculated with a die crack.
    The bar has been raised!
I have submissions at both NCS and PCGS. I promise you I will keep you posted. You know who you are.
Oh, I know it's not always "fashionable" to speak out, but I have to thank those that send the emails in support what I stand for. THANKS! I may never be close to being a great collector, but I am a collector.
    More to come shortly!
Nice Morgan you got there too, Robert!
    G'nite all

    REJECTED!
    Hey all
NGC must have known I am upset. My 14 paragraph dissertation on their incompetence got deleted.
Papamesa is right. To move the label, you have to hit it hard enough to shatter the case.
I have received gouged slabs in a "pristine" shipping box?
The NGC scans do not show any damage. How does this happen?
If the USPS indeed is handling them this roughly, the packaging is to blame. A paper divider, half full, is chintzy, at best.
These coins mostly leave NGC in the condition they arrive in.
Sure they'll fix the problem.....they caused it.
Who pays for the shipping and insurance?
The PF 63 I got from NGC was cracked out and sent the next day to PCGS. They body bagged it, PVC damaged? NGC was the only one to have that coin out of my mylar flip. Who cares? From 70 to body bag in 2 months?
I've had QC problems too. I get emails from others about the problems with QC. "Good enough" is not QC. I paid for "Good".
I can get my errors fixed for a sum too.
I just lost 4 out of 18 to the environmental damage or excessive hair lines excuse. My coins didn't get the service they deserved and needed, but NGC got paid the full amount.
I wonder if they treat the submissions from the Smithsonian with such non-chalance?
I guess I'll go back to buying graded coins and eliminate the hit and miss grading.
I'll let you guys with all the eBay money grade them and I'll just buy the good ones.
If I were to get slabs back like that and all in the same "unhurt" box, I think I'd be knocking at NGC's front door ASAP.
If there is no quality in Quality Control, it is time for "change". Who's watching the store?
    The answer is obvious

    And they're off
    Hello all!
    Diversification has finally arrived.
I am eventually eliminating my US Commemorative dollar set.
I will never finish it. I put it up for sale on an auction site.
I really don't need to sell it. I just want to use the funds to diversify, and also for grading fees.
Canada is looking good. I have all but a few. NGC won't grade the complete $20 set, so I'll have to settle for the one's they do grade.
I finally got a clad 2009 proof set I am keeping. Big deal. I got most graded and can't afford the rest.
The Mint said they sent my silver proof sets. Overnight is like August to the Government. So much for those getting graded this month.
I have, at least, a phony image of a 2009 ASE to hang someplace. It is just another botched silver order from an incompetent somebody, at West Point, making a six digit paycheck.
Looking to hire a "Production Manager" for US silver coin production? No experience necessary.
Does anyone know what the "New World Coinage" will look like or be made of? What Mint will they use?
I hope NGC will grade them.
I am getting tired of the same old thing every year.
My NZ coins look pretty nice for the pocket change I sent in. There are even some MS grades.
No word if they want to tackle the resto job yet.
Those of you that email me regularly know about that.
Well, buy my Commems and I'll work on finishing my Canada sets.
Three coins sold on the site this week. I listed 2 on feebay, but it already cost me more than I should have paid. I have 3 views already. WOW!
You all are welcome to look anytime....it's free.
    I need a $20 Canada "buggy"
Great grades and good buys to everyone.
    Speaking of Goodbyes

It's too bad it never caught on in New Zealand
    Hi everyone!
I got the remnants of the NZ submission back today. The "Environmental Damage" is a vague, but accurate description.
Carbon spots, patina, and toning........all products of a less than perfect environment.
Well, I got spots. A little black and green in about a dozen places. Am I happy?........NO. Are they my fault?......NO.
I should look so good when I reach 64 years of age.
I asked about getting them "conserved, but waited until no one answered, and next they were at NGC.
The coins spent 2 weeks at NGC. The 1945 could have been sent to NCS if someone had only taken the initiative. I would have been happy to spend a few more bucks while it was there. If they can indeed work wonders, this should be"cake". I am told that once it is rejected for grading by NGC, it is hopeless to try to go through NCS services to retry.
I want to thank those that offered support, solutions, and, condolences.
I cleaned a sacrificial 1945 British penny and it looks super. It had a huge green blob at about the 2:00 o'clock position. A little hot soapy water and a jillion Q-tips, and it's as good as new. Not quite. It is looking great though. There was a lot of shiny under the dirt too.
All I wanted was to have a 100% graded set of NZ coins. On a small fixed income I was hoping to do a few. I'll take a PrAg if that's all it is.
Now I have to scrutinize every cent.....literally.
Let's hope NCS has the solution...pardon the pun.
This coin is too nice to toss in a flea market grab bag.
I hope none of you are going through these tribulations.
I just sent my proof set back to the Mint....again. The silver proofs are out and where's mine? Overnight delivery by August?
You all will be grading the 2010 sets by the time I get a decent set of 2009.
Let's hope things get better. I may even move up to "improperly cleaned" status.
    Have a great week!
Oh....here is the one I "cleaned".

Hey....I'm only showing you what's out there for sale.
    Hello everyone!
I knew someone would destroy the myth about the 2009 "collector", W mint, American Silver Eagles.
I guess if you play with a few items in PhotoShop you wind up with a winner.
I received another new catalog with this coin for sale.
If I had enough money to sue them, I'd be on it.
Someone order a few and you'll own a big company as the dust settles?
I just thought you all might like to see what we're missing.
    Have a great collecting day
I'm back to my Canadian sets.
    Oh.....the number fits a PF 69 (2007) ASE. I checked.

  24. namvette68
NO........It's not the E D you take the pills for!
    Hi all..........again!
Here's is another coin with E D? Environmental Damage.
This will go to NGC when the other comes back from NGC. I will make out the paperwork to send it to NCS, to be conserved and then sent to NGC to be graded and then sent back to me. I wonder if it will look as nice as this one? They say NCS works wonders.
I wish I knew what the environment did to that coin.
I checked the NGC Bibliography on World coins for New Zealand. They do not have a reference to go by. There is not one listed.
What are the chances of having two in a row with E D?
    I'll let you know.
    Have a great evening

  25. namvette68
I guess it looked like it turned black from something?
    Hi all!
The results are in, and just as I figured. "Environmental Damage" was the verdict on my 1945 KM13A Penny.
I guess all the black stuff on the coin made it hard to grade, so it must have come from the environment. I guess if it were green it's the PVC?
That is an expensive coin to throw away.
I asked them to describe the"damage" and see if it was worthy of NCS conservation. No answer. Email says they shipped the lot already. I guess when you are in a hurry to dispose of the problem, you do what it takes. That's the second grand slam in a month.
    Don't ask me about playoffs!
I'm hoping your coins are better than mine!
