tj96
I'm sure this has been asked before. How or what does NGC base their price guide on?
tj96
Never mind. Think I found it.... The NGC US Coin Price Guide shows average dealer retail prices based on actual, documented transactions and other information reported by collectors, dealers and auction houses for NGC-certified coins. Popular Post The Neophyte Numismatist
I appreciate that NGC does not share their value assessment of my coins on the public registries to others. I can see my my own coins and collection values, but it is not publicly visible. I DO wish that NCG had a button to disable this feature. This would come-in very handy when my wife walks by and looks over my shoulder. tj96, Fenntucky Mike, Hoghead515 and 3 others

She was watching as I was looking at my coins and I wasnt paying attention to the combined value at the time, but she sure noticed it and freaked out just a little bit. It was my quarters to. The ones I have the most in. I tried to tell her thats the value they are worth and I didnt pay that much for them, but she wasnt buying it. I thought she was gonna knock me in the head with a skillet again. Please people who run the NGC website, make it optional to show that part. Be nice to disable it when our wives are lurking around while were on there admiring our progress. Those skillets hurt. I did exactly the same, and got the same results. We know that price guides are inflated - the wives? . tj96, JT2 and Hoghead515

She knows the coin game that the price chart is close to high retail and not what she will get for them when I am gone. I tell her to cry a lot when she goes to sell them it may help to get a little better price. Hoghead515
Popular Post VKurtB
It’s my wife that keeps pushing me to bid up. I’m the one telling her to “cool your jets”. I’m Pennsylvania born and bred. We’re cheap. JT2, Hoghead515 and RonnieR131

RWB
A "Price Guide" is intended to show or indicate a course, or is a list of approximations intended to assist users. It is not an absolute set of values, nor is it necessarily consistently derived from identical sources. Hoghead515

I wish I had that. Ive seen some nice ones she talked me out of buying. But the good way to look at it is she keeps me in check. Makes sure I dont go over my budget. Also got a few coins she didnt know about. Thats why she got tore up when she seen it. She tries to check the mail now before me now but I got someone working for me on the inside. The boys check it and hide the packages for me before she gets home. So Im not really lying to her. Im just not telling her. I made a promise to her Id never lie but I never promised Id volunteer info. If she dont ask I dont tell.
