Submitting coins for grading.

I have been a member for almost two years. I will not be renewing my membership. WHY? Last November I submitted 16+- 2021 Morgan dollars for grading and encapsulation. This was my 2nd shipment. 1st coins received in 35+- days after submission. My 2nd submission had an ERROR morgan dollar in it. There was a press mark on the neck. I had showed it to a few people prior to submission for grading. The exact same error that NGC had "discovered", shortly after my submission, funny it looked exactly like MY coin. Anyway, I received the 2nd shipment 3+ months later from NGC. The error coin was MISSING. I know, it's my fault for trusting NGC to not steal coins. I submitted all the coins in bulk packaging, and I did not separate the ERROR coin. An employee realized he could STEAL the coin, replacing it with a regular Morgan. Somebody at NGC stole my ERROR coin. If there is only ERROR coin out there that NGC published  as the one they found. Then it is a STOLEN COIN, shame on you, the STAFF at NGC! You stole the coin from ME!

This is a very serious claim, and one not to be made lightly. We saw a gentleman claim this a while back with absolutely nothing to back it up. Do you have any proof of your claims? Pics of the coins before and after submission? I will say that in general this group will not be on board with frivolous claims.

Additionally if you submitted them in a standard submission mint errors will not be attributed. It requires an additional fee and a separate submission. Sounds like submitter error to me.

Is this the “discovery” you are referencing? I don’t see any such announcement from NGC, but maybe they made some announcement. If this is what you are referring to ICG is a different company all together. And a much less reputable one at that.

These post are pretty tiering.  Not for a second do we think that NGC will do this.  For one you have one of the most reputable coin Grading services in the world and second what would they have to gain.. when the mags and papers ask "Where did it come from"  knowing full well that thier staff doest have a stake in submissions.......hummmmmmmm.  not to mention one of the sticktest and tightest grading

I have contacted the police with regards to this issue. For the record, I posted on Coinweek or coinworld in October/Novermber of 2021 that I did in fact have this coin. I was lucky enough to purchase a total of 30 - 2021 Morgans from the mint (how many did you get!). Do I think NGC plotted to take the coin. NO. 2 possibilities, I think an employee/grader saw it. And stole it or NGC took it out of my coins, to show others, and forgot where it came from. Yes this is a serious accusation. You say the credibility is with NGC. LOL!!! Just prior to this I had two silver eagles, in a sealed "annual uncirculated dollar coin set". Both came back as burnished silver eagles. Nothing more. I sent an email, asking why the "annual uncirculated dollar coin set"  was not on the label. NGC stated they do not put "annual uncirculated dollar coin set" on ANY label. I will be submitting those coins back for new labels. I have the emails, from NGC. So that tells me the numbers are skewed on the silver eagles coming out of coins sets (gratulations set, etc). You tell me, is that price fixing? Look at what price coin vault sells those coins at because the NGC label state the silver eagle is from a special set. You submit a coin for grading, it comes back one or two grades lower then you thought. You lost$$$$. Maybe an employee took your coin, switched with a lower grade, would you ever know it? I am posting to let collectors know what is out there. Employee thief is a real issue. I think NGC does a great job with the new labels, as well as other coin grading companies. My name is clear as day. Nothing is anonymous. Jerry Parsons.

this is starting to sound more and more like our old pal........ He pops up every couple of months and declares that NGC is a thieving company.  Stole my this and stole my tht and did not attrib this and did not attrib that.  You know i like to have fun chtting and Laughting and B s ing around her ebut would never go as far as to saythat one of the most repuatble coin companys in the world is stealling coins and then back dooring them to the market for profit.. I CALL Bull .................. just me a simple collector.

Well, NGC does make mistakes. On my P—- crossover order, there were two 1955 halves. The minimum grade was “same as existing grade”. All coins in the order crossed, but they swapped the 1955 halves. What was a MS65 is now in a MS64 holder, and what was a MS64 is now in a MS65 holder.

Why did you submit this fantastic error coin without separating it from the other coins? Why not designate the coin as an error on the submission form?

You submitted the coin in a mint capsule. Most likely the capsule was pressing against the coin giving it a look of something wrong with the coin or there was some sort of debris in the capsule pressed against the coin. The "error" disappeared when it was removed from the capsule.

The odds of your coin being switched is insanely small. Don't you think that a company that on any given day could have $100,000,000+ in coins in their vaults has an insane level of security with camera covering everything.

I should of taken the error coin out. Submitted on a different line or form. My fault. I submitted in bulk. I thought that NGC would do the right thing. I was wrong (only my 2nd year submitting coins for grading). Note, When I got the Morgans from the mint. I had a broken lens on 1 coin, all the coins were loose in package. I, like all of you collectors, inspect all of my coins with a magnifying lens. That's how I noted the scratches on two (both came back MS68). Once again, I consider myself lucky, that I was able to get the coins from the Mint in the first place. I have a full time job, coin collecting is a passion/hobby. I wondered if I should post or not. After about 30 days, I thought yes. Is it better to share a story or not?  I have been collecting coins for over 30+ years. New to the game of GRADING. I do not sell coins for profit (My collection). I love collecting coins. I hope all of you do too. I meet and talk with some great people at coin shows. Overall, my grading experience with NGC, is what I would call fair. I prefer coins to be in graded holders, I know their not fake (China) or have been modified. We need NGC and other grading companies. I believe there is a bright future for these companies. But that said... My friend worked in a famous Gold Mine in California. He said 50% of the employees stole gold. They had cameras and metal detectors, and they still stole. Never underestimate humans. Side note, I will try to find the post in coin world/week, where  I posted that I had just submitted the error coin for grading (prior week in 2021), when NGC discovered MY error coin. Be safe out there!

OP - So do you have a photo of the coin in question?

Why would you of all people, who say 50% of employees steal and never underestimate humans, ask this board to trust your allegation of theft at face value?  If I were you and before I went to the authorities with this, I'd check all of your Morgan's again.  You'll probably find your coin hidden in a book because you didn't trust your nurse.
