Thomas,

Welcome to the forum. What is your question? Do you simply want to know what kind of coins they are? If you have specific questions please post one coin at a time with cropped pictures front and back so they can be seen clearly.

No this is just Post Mint Damage (PMD). It’s only an error if it happened at the mint. Anything that happens after it leaves is damage. This couldn’t have happened during the minting process therefore it is damage.

Correct. If I took a guess I’d say high heat was involved in some way but I don’t know for sure. Many times we never know what happened. We just ask ourselves could this have occurred during the minting process? Here the answer is no.

Would this 68 be considered a double die and this 44 be considered good shape? Sorry just started collecting it interests me that this 44 probably in Better shape than me from 70 years ago99D7CFEE-AB70-4942-AE82-76FD9499FBBD.thumb.jpeg.d91d9919dff121400ee0178009acf03f.jpeg24A059A8-B4BF-41AA-807D-2E231DFAFCD6.thumb.jpeg.dd1b6bb68fc3e9daa9b1251bcd605920.jpeg

As I said earlier please post front and back of one coin at a time. Generally it is good practice to make a separate post for each coin of interest. Without seeing the back no one can tell you about a possible grade.

on the 44 no major doubling is apparent, but there are several minor DDOs for that date. I’ll post the link to variety vista for comparison of the various ones. These would not be recognized by NGC I don’t believe but you would have to check variety plus page if you see one you think may be a match.

As a new collector it’s common to believe you see a lot of doubled die coins. It’s probably the most common question in this newbie section. 99% of the time the answer is no. Many coins have doubling from die erosion or mechanical doubling and these are not errors and add no premium. My suggestion is before you even start to look for a doubled die, or other errors/varieties, learn the minting process. Also learn what the types of doubling are, what they look like, and what causes them. Error-ref.com has great info for reading as an example. If you don’t know what you are looking for it’s hard to find it.

So should I get the plastic cases for these guys is it worth it?

Not until you learn some basic coin handling procedures. Some cardboard flips are fine ( non-PVC).
Varieties are differences in coins like die cracks rotated dies things that are different with in a coin type. Stuff that happens during the minting process. Now that’s a short explanation. Others here can explain it better

All are perfectly fine “album coins”, but not third party grading worthy.

It's zinc rot under the plating.

How does zinc rot happen under a coating

The same way rust occurs on the painted fender of your car.  The playing is very thin and once it's scratched or breached, the zinc is exposed to the environment.  And there are lots of things in the environment that don't play well with Zn.
