It depends on the purpose of the poster and the other design elements. It's hard to make that judgment in isolation without seeing your plans for the rest of the design.

 

I agree that knowing the purpose of the poster would be helpful.

 

#1 is more visually interesting to me, I like the added dimension.

 

#2 is technically better because no part of the coin is uncovered but is visually less appealing.

For display purposes I like #1 better.

 

If the idea is for selling coins #2 is better, since both sides of the coin are visible.

 

I would like a different font though.
