I bought this 6 years ago after someone freshly dipped it. It has been sitting in my Dansco ever since. I think it is about time to send it to our hosts for a grade.

What do you guys think it will grade and do you like the secondary toning?

The toning is neutral, but the dipped appearance is a negative for me. I'll guess 64 or 64+ based on the images.

Two weeks and no posts ?

Any one pick up any new Barbers ?

I'll be happy to write up a FUN report and post new

coins - but if I am the only one carrying this Thread,

which I fear I am, then, sorry to say, this thread will

slip into oblivion.

Lets see some activity - not just reader hits. Well over

1,150 hits since January 1st.

Lets show some enthusiasm here.

I sent a Dime back to PCGS because it owuldn't register

and it seems that all they did was add a Zero in front of

the old cert number ...

This was snagged today at the LCS.....old small holder ANACS in AU58. It's my first "toned" coin and just looks SO much better than the pics represent. It's part of my "Famous Dates in American History" Type set.....1892 - General Electric opens it's doors and, ironically, the founding of the Sierra Club. We don't have shows around here so this is really the first toned coin I'd seen in person and now I "get it". Sorry for the lousy shots. GOD BLESS....

P.S. The Korean War Vet who operates our LCS warned me that high grade Barber's are addictive......I think he may be right.

WALT was not at FUN... He was missed... He always manages to sniff out

a few nice Barbers ... then bring them to us Barberites for "show & tell".

I was holding something in reserve to spring on him in case he did show up,

something even he would swoon over... another new discovery ( raw obviously )

1905-O Half in AU 53. ( Sorry, the VF 25 in my set is staying put ! )

He's working on his Quarter collection and has some really nice newps in it.

Although I have not seen his new 1896-S Quarter in PCGS 58, all who have

say it's the nicest 58 they have ever seen. Considering I just brokered the sale

of another 96-S also in PCGS 58 with a CAC, [ which was a coin I'd call AU 64

as there was no rub on the reverse - fully Prooflike fields - abundant swirling

luster on the obverse - amber-gold rim toning - without a doubt the nicest I have

ever seen personally - ( my old set had a great AU 53 ) - ] that is a pretty tall statement.

I just spoke with the owner of the 96-S I placed and he's like a boy at Christmas

who just got his first bicycle ! He's gushing with pride of ownership. The new owner

is not a newbie by any means - he was a coin dealer back in the 1970-80's. now a

sucessful businessman, he is buying coins for his personal collection that he has

always had a penchant for in the past.

I have as yet had my box of 20 newps imaged - one of these days, promise.
