  1. Just got the results. https://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/6885723-001/NGCDetails/ AU Details. Removed from Jewelry. Thanks everyone for their input! You guys were spot on.
  2. Hello again everyone! I recently acquired this very nice 1883 Liberty Seated dime, but there is a loop soldered on for a necklace. Besides this one thing, the coin looks very good. Does anyone here know of a way to remove the attached piece without damaging the coin any further?
  3. I am working on a type set currently, but also getting all of the cheap proof sets. I'm particularly interested in the draped bust large cents at the moment.
  4. No not really. I was more asking about if I should because it is a "rare" variety. Edit: There are 61 graded between NGC & PCGS with a total population estimate of 400.
  5. I'm pretty sure it is based on where all of the letters line up on the wreath. If it is the 1830 1c ML, should I submit it for grading because it is so rare? I got this in a lot of large cents and I don't think anyone ever really looked at it because of its condition and being holed.
  6. I submitted this to NGC for grading. I will follow up with the results when they come in so we can all have some closure. Thank you again for your insights everyone.
  7. Machine doubling! Thank you. That would make sense if they do multiple strikes on a proof coin. It is not a reflection from the case. I looked at it under 30x and 90x from multiple angles. These pictures are from my $35 720p coin camera…so not the best. Thank you for teaching me another fact @Sandon
  8. Hello again, I was going through all of my proof sets, and while looking at the 1980 set I noticed this doubling/tripling on the reverse of the 1c. I don't believe it is called a ddr/tdr because of the shelf like presentation on the letters. But the right side of the memorial looks like it has 3 shelfs as do many of the letters. Does anyone know the term for this, and is this officially "cool" or just cool to me? Just to be clear, this is from an un-cracked proof set.
  9. Thank you everyone for your insights! Glad I didn’t do the impulsive thing and buy it before asking.
  10. Hello again, I am friendly with 2 local antique store owners that have coins. They are both very old and don't really use the internet. One of them just purchased this 1857 O Sitting Liberty quarter and put it up for sale for $650. Any insight if this coin is real and if this is under priced? If so, would this be (roughly speaking) in the AU range or MS?
  11. edit: Here are some pictures outside of the cardboard flips. They look a little different. Had to move the coin to the plastic flip per NGCs guide and took some pictures.
  12. Thank you! That is what I was looking to know. They will just bump it up in the event it needs to be. I have a few other coins I could submit but they are in the 100-500 range. I also have an antique store owner I know who asked if I could submit a coin for him with my order.
  13. Hello again! I am going to submit the 1914-D quarter eagle I previously posted about for grading. This is my first time and I am wondering how to pick the tier. The instructions say the max value of the coin each tier allows, but the coin I’m submitting can range from $800-$80,000. So am I supposed to pick the tier as if the coin could grade at the max end of that spectrum? What is the benchmark I should use?
  14. I would like to thank you all for the information and advice you have given. I really do appreciate it. Things like this give me confidence in becoming a more serious collector! In the past it has always felt so daunting, but with people like you around to help I feel like I can keep moving forward. Little things like learning to say "submit for grading" instead of "get it graded", and "loupe" instead of "loop" I notice and remember from your feedback. I hope to one day be proficient enough to be the one giving advice and feedback instead.
  15. Thank you! Literally between my post and now, Amazon delivered my loop and red book! These look so good through a loop!
