  1. Not millionaires but hopefully it's worth some extra cash. I like the difference between the obverse and reverse. Hopefully an error and not damage looks bubbled but I can't tell.
  2. Welcome! Lots of knowledgeable people here. Curious to see what people have to say. Interesting
  3. @powermad5000"To me, anyone can put together a set of cull coins rather easily. I decided I wanted to collect only uncirculated coins in the best possible grades I can afford to reflect as closely as possible what these coins used to look like when they were first minted." I get that, I would love to buy everything to that extent! Its always limited with your bankroll lol. Wasn't focused on collecting VAMs just interested in having a few interesting pieces but at the same time i dont want to be unprofitable or at a loss. For ex. I found a knobbed 8 Morgan VF30 but it was only $48. NGC price guide $100 or so. Auction prices anywhere from $50-$100. Also passed on a MS64 1884-O Morgan O/O. Also passed on a MS66+ 1881-S Morgan but passed due lack of eye appeal to me "luster". I am currently picking ones that I want to have. Also would like to be financially positive down the line. I'm collecting basically one of most denominations not whole sets which is probably more profitable and a big accomplishment.
  4. GC but people over bid often it seems like. I'm guilty as well but man some people pay a premium for what they want. 😅
  5. Oh wow nice! I need to do a better job looking around. I only shop from one major auction house at the moment. Browse ebay here and there but nothing ever seems realistic lol. Sounds like I could still make a good chunk towards other coins from that quarter eagle thats good. Your everywhere and very knowledgeable you must be a long time collector or dealer I appreciate your time and I'm sure everyone else does as well! Thanks again
  6. I have around 200 silver dimes from the same method. I believe it is a popular method for finding some junk silver or some decent Roosevelt's sometimes. I have taught my stepdaughter to do the same when I first got her into collecting. If you found those in a short amount of time that's nice! I rarely come across any where I live sadly.
  7. @EagleRJO do you collect alot of Morgan Dollars? Asking because of your icon. If so do you think buying "California" pedigree Morgans are good looking into i heard the collector is pretty choosy and knowledgeable on VAMs. Was looking at a few pieces from his and even though they might not be the highest graded and fairly low that they must have been decent quality. What's your thoughts if so?
  8. I was wondering about those "digs" and how much that lowers values on a gold coin..Like Goldfinger said, does that lower it all the way down to bullion value?
  9. Thank you Sandon and I don't know why I posted dollar this time. I did post it right on my last quarter eagle my apologies!
  10. I was thinking authentic but cleaned possibly. The liberty and date is throwing me off compared to other photos I looked at though seems kind of cartoonish or am I wrong?
  11. Thats awesome I'm sure that find got him hooked and digging up the yard Have you had any luck or cool finds? That's awesome people in the community are nice enough to let you. Good luck with your possible Jesse James or another Kentucky Hoard find best of luck!
  12. Almost just makes me want to send it just to be sure. I will definitely have to do some work when i can spare the time. Decisions..
  13. Oh that is heart breaking! Especially finding something metal detecting! I always wanted to invest in one but most places in Missouri require a permit and you can't keep what you find on public lands. I could be mistaken though. Seems like only asking property owner permission from farmers, properties that are historically old etc. That must be a great feeling lesson learned
