I assume that your post was aimed at me mike...
and I gotta tell you ..the post was aimed at two posts that were here ealier, and have since been pulled by the watcher gods...they were both out and out advertisements for a sale, and I personally agree with you that this site is for our dreams, hopes, wishes, "oh I got that coin finally and the rest of what you said....and as far as trading slabs (.com)...I'm a member and want to thanks to Ron, such a site was long overdue

Is it pictures and descriptions or is it the grades of the coins in the set?
Does my perfect set of Sac proofs..all Pr70UC..deserve to be listed as inferior to other sets containing the same grade coins just because I'm a lousy Photographer...or is the quality of the set to be determined by the editorial skill of the owner? Just a thought.

Received a telephone call from Mr. Taylor hisself
I received a call from James Taylor last night. Apoligizing to me for the shoddy treatment that I had received from ANACS. He has made some promises and asked for another chance, to prove that changes are going to be made at ANACS. He is going to refund the overcharges made, and has made an offer for the lack of timely processing of my orders. He had been out of town for the week and had just seen my email. and called imediatly. He seemed extremely unhappy with the situation and sincere in his desire to improve his companies performance. We shall see

Services charged for but not delievered....twice
I just sent this to Mr. Taylor.....was I being too harsh?
I must say that I am vastly disappointed with your guiding philosophy for your new company image. Twice I have submitted coins for grading and had them take three times as long as advertised. And twice I have paid for a requested service and not received that service. If your going to advertise and charge for email/fax notification of grades, you should at least follow thru and provide that service. Once is a mistake, twice is bordering on fraudulent business practices. After meeting you in Boston a couple of years ago, I was impressed with your attitudes and ideas. I am no longer impressed.

    I missed something
please explain the reason you can state that the Mint Buffalo $50 proof is a First Strike. Does the accompaning paperwork state this? And excactly what are the requirments for the strike to be considered First Strike? Is it the accual first strike on a set of dies? And only that strike. Or is it the first 100 or 1000 strikes on a set of dies. Inquiring minds want to know.....at least I do

    let's see...2 cents; 2 nickels; 2 dimes; 10 quarters; 2 half dollars; 12 dollar coins...did I get em all?
this next year is gonna be a major pain for me. I deal in modern certified coins, mainly Sac's. Now next year, I'm gonna have the Sac's and five presidential coins, both mints and two types, regular business strike and satin finish !!!!. plus the proof dollars (hopefully some 70"s). boy, NGC is gonna love me. and do I have to start a new registry set for the presidentials? of course. and I'm still waiting to see if the registry is gonna change the Sac's to reflect the business strikes and the satins. Oh I just happened to remember....we got the new Lincoln cents coming soon too.
Oh how I love this hobby !!!!!!!

now I'm not normally into toned coins, BUT
buddy, that is one beautiful coin. And as far as its value...priceless. because it's yours.
    and I sure wish it was mine...and I don't collect Buff's
if I had that one, I'd have to start....what a beauty

    or it could be.....
I once asked NGC why my coins were hung up in QC so long and this is the answer I got.....that term covers a lot of different actions..actual QC...a review of the paper inserts to verify they match....and the actual encapsulation of the coins...and prep for shipping....at least that's what they told me

Closed society? Nope, it's open to all who....Barbed wire? nothing bad about that
number one...all you closed society types need to revisit the definition of a society...a group of people with a common purpose who band together, make rules to govern their group and promise to live by those rules. those that are not willing to abide by the rules of the society are no longer members of that group and are normally called criminals. IF YOU WANT TO BELONG, THEN FOLLOW THE RULES. OTHERWISE WE HAVE CHAOS. As for the barbed wire, ever hear the statment "that strong fences make for good neighbors"? I come to this site to enjoy the stories of others who have found that coin, or have a new collection that they are proud of and want to share the pictures etc. I don't come here to have various ones try to sell me something, or use this as a forum to promote this or that group of hot items that I should buy, I got ebay for that. As to Ron, I also was a founding member of his site and I am very grateful that he has it. something like it was needed in my opinion. But let's leave this site as what it is...and stop trying to change it into something it's not. that way maybe more people will enjoy
    OK...my four cents worth (inflation)

I thought that we had settled this buy/sell issue...but with 150+ views on two for sale entries (pure for sale ads)...I guess that this has turned into an advertising venue
and if that was what I personally wanted I would join the boards...been nice knowing most of you...and good luck and good night

A JOYOUS MEMORIAL DAY..AND WISHES FOR MANY MORE. AND LET US NOT FORGET OUR FALLEN COMRADES IS WHATEVER CONFLICT
May this weekend find you in good health...or at least mobile, and our heartfelt best wishes to those not. To the families of our fallen and missing comrades, may your hearts be strong, and your paths as easy as possible. To my fellow Nam vets, may your dreams be silent, and your days filled with peace. To those now fighting and/or just returned, our thoughts are with you and congradulations on a job well done.

    pop report is misleading
The NGC Pop Report is I believe misleading in the case of the 1979 Wide Rim SBA as opposed to the Narrow Rim...the number of submissions for the two are heavily weighted towards the Wide Rim as they carry the premium...and as the other report that the wide rims compose about 45% of the totals....boy do I have a hard time with that one...having gone thru over $1400 of 79 SBA's and having only found 11...that don't seem to be 45%

After all we are talking about Moderns here
My three cents worth (inflation don't u know) As a collector of Moderns coins..Sac's...SBA's....IKE's...and Memorial Cents, I do try to get the highest avalable grade...especially now when they're still cheap...If you project these coins out 50 to a hundred years..(when they will start to become hard to find?) will we still view that poor little pf68 as a throwaway or will some of the new collectors to our hobby be more that happy to get that coin at a decent price? Will my poor little set ranked #6 on the registry now be equal to a big name collection? And worth BIG bucks? That is the true nature of collection for posterity...in this case my grandkids (greatgrandkids?) Meanwhile I get to have the fun of putting them together and lokking at what I have accomplished
like I said......my three cents worth

did anyone see the article in N News
ICG is now holding grading seminars at major shows for the general public.....with their graders on site to explain the perceived differences in the higher grades. Now as much as I hate to say it, it would seem that Jim Taylor is getting a jump up on the rest of the competition....something to watch real close huh?

the one true consumer driven market
the numismactic field is one of if not the only truly consumer driven markets in fact. no matter what value a person puts on a coin, if there's not a consumer out there willing to pay that price, then the coin isn't worth that price. and as long as there are customers willing to pay the inflated price to get that PCGS slab...we will have the differential between the two. possible part of this is due to the snobbish attitude of PCGS that only allows their slabs on their registry. and face it, we are a competition driven society (sad isn't it). and that very competition drives the coin market. "I want to be the only person to have a coin in this grade". you ever heard that? if I had a nickle for every time someone has asked me what a coin is worth..and I had to explain that it was worth whatever someone was willing to pay for it..you can finish that statement, I'm sure. the solution to this problem (?) is simple. first we must identify and educate those consumers who prefer PCGS, that NGC is better (opinion) and convince them that they are equal in value and should be just as desireable. my 3 cents (inflation don't u know)

the public has discovered the SBA's as a great set to collect
and the price of SBA's are going up almost across the board. And some of the higher grades are becoing hard to find. Witness the 81-s and 99-d in higher grade MS. Makes me happy, as I love this series. I don't have the pictures of my set posted yet...but I will

NOT AS GOOD AS THE OLD ONE
I am very disappointed in the NEW ANACS of Mr. Taylor. I sent in 5 coins to be graded economy (21 days) rcvd by them on the 3rd of Jan. around the 1st of Feb. I called to check and see how they were doing...thus started a period of no answers and lies, that is worse than another of the grading parties (unnamed) I was told that the coins were still in pri-grading on the 7th of Feb. and then received assurances (five times) that someone would check on them and call me back...no calls back at all. this over a period of 4 weeks...it is now the 2nd of March and still no coins...the last time I checked...they were in QC...that was around the 28 of Feb. This is the new and improved ? Give me back the old please
