As I promised, I now report on the sucess of my submision of George's for grading
If you remember, I submitted 19 georges for grading back on mar 3..there was 15 denvers and 4 phillys...I felt at that time that I should get at least 1 if not 2 67's on the denvers and mostly 66 on the phillys....the results....tada tada
    DENVER
    4.....MS-64
    6.....MS-65
    4.....MS-66
    1.....MS-66PL
    PHILLY
    1.....MS-65
    3.....MS-66
well, I didn't get my 67's...but overall I guess I am happy...the 66PL and a P 66 when into my set (after I got NGC to accept that there was a PL)
By the way, these were all coins from mint bags....
hope your luck is at least as good?

Listen to this and then realize how lucky you are
talked to ANACS today..checking on a dozen Canadian half dollars I had recieved back from NGC as having been cleaned...and my jaw hit the floor when I was told that they were being returned as "not genuine"..supposely that opinion held by three different graders....now I realize that I have only thirty or so years as a collector, and most of that with Canadian's, and these were purchased from another dealer with even more experience, and a reputation that is beyond question ...but I am surprised greatly to learn that counterfeiters are now doing halfs worth in the 20 to 50 dollar range (if that) I have to say that this leaves some question as to the reliability of the new ANACS...and just who has Jim hired to work there...I will follow this note up with further info once I have the coins back in my possession

If I had the proverbial nickel for each time I got everything packaged and ready to go....
I would be a wealthy man and able to but that barber proof dime and quarter I need. although my normal goof is to get the coins in the package and forget the invoice...or get the invoice in and forget the coins...talk about being in a hurry...It really is that feeling of anticipation you get to see the results of the grading, I'm with the others here who have posted concerning their setting on pins and needles waiting, and waiting, and waiting...even it is only ten days, they seem like a year. I fancy that my reason for this anticipation is my need for self gratification, in that I correctly pre-graded the coins that I sent in, and those wonderful people at NGC have validated my skills, and sent me back all those nice Pr-70's and Ms-68's for my continueing Lincoln Mem. sets. but taking all that into account....If you really want to talk about anticipation; put yourself in my place of having 120+ Lincoln's in for pre-screen and the knowledge that there is no set time limit for grading...Oh the pain of it. but it will all be better when I get to see those magic numbers appear on the web site, that shows my coins and their grades. And even better, their on the way home to little ole me.

sent in 18 canadian halves ( george the VI) recvd on the 21'st of Jan. graded; in holders: and shipped the 30'th....of course out of the 18 I sent, 12 of them were body bagged...oh my oh my...let me cry some more in my pepsi....would have been a complete set of Georges except the ML Curv7...now what..do I go ahead and do the set? after I finish crying, I'll decide...

    I really don't know why I try....
Have been calling the Mint since yesterday...and the only answer I get is "we are unable to take your call at this time"...and of course, the web site is down.."due to a change in manangement"...I have resigned myself to being unable to purchase the Bald Eagle commen's. The service we get from them, especially considering the prices and profits they make, is really indicative of the shoddy government attitude prevalent today. And I continue to buy into it, by purchasing mint products. So who is the bigger loser?

Can a note collector help me with a term?
tried to get an answer on the notes site and came up blank,,,so I'll try here. Got a nice note back from PMG with a net grade, and the term FOXING on the back....never heard that one before, but then again, I have just expanded into some paper money. Can some of you bi-discipline collectors help out? Back to my first love....just started a war time nickle set...these are some real nice looking jeffersons, but finding an affordable top pop is out of my reach...oh weel, a nice ms-67 set is affordable and best of all IT'S PRETTY. have a nice summer you'all

normally reconized as three factors to a crime
they are intent, motive, and ability or the where with all to commit...not having knowledge that your action is a crime is no defense, but can go towards a no intent defense...but proving that a person has knowledge that the coins they are selling are counterfeit, might be hard to do. thus no intent. then there is the cost of a trial and the associated matters. that is probably why we don't see a lot of prosecutions

just got the press release on the "NEW" SIDE VIEW Presidential Dollar Holder....no picture, just a description...and the rules for first day release labeling
have you seen the press release yet? just got the email about 10 minuits ago....and I ask u...how is the little dealer or collector supposed to get the new dollars and send to NGC by the next day (16th) if the mint won't even ship them for a week or so? huh! oh well screwed again I guess

    read this to see why.......
I would say that a disagreement is in order...nobody collects coins as a hobby anymore...the key word is INVESTMENT...MONEY...the only reason to buy a coin is for it's future value. and for that reason alone you must buy the TPG with the most recognized reputation and the most potential for an increase in the almighty dollar. Don't attempt to grade yourself...the TPG's have guarentees...and when it comes time to sell and make the bucks...that will have a major factorial posistion. As anyone with experience on ebay or with Teletrade or Heritage or any other auction place...the coins from PCGS and NGC garner the premiums and the PCI's, ANACS' and others are lucky to sell.(although ANACS does fair)
just as an after thought....I never could take my own advise

I must say that I am vastly disappointed in the caliber of people who now claim to be numismatists...
These people collect some of the most ridiculous items. Such as Lincoln pennies, and Jefferson nickels...and those new fangled dollars...Susan B. and Ike's and Sacagawea. What kind of names are those? A true collector knows that the only coins worth collecting are the kings of the numismatic world..the MORGANS and BUST Halfs, the Indian cents and Liberty Nickels..those grand old coins of years prior to the 1900's. The caliber of people is declining by the year, and the SSCS is being forced to having to deal with these upstart collectors. And having to read the opinions of these newveau experts and purists, is sometimes more than I can bear. Let us return to the days that only the well to do collected our beautiful coins, and we are the arbitrators of the hobby, the final word on who says what or what topics can be discussed. Oh for the good ole days.

check the wording of your order status...
check the wording of the order status under the shipping status page...I believe that you will find that like mine it states that "your order request has been proccessed" just means that they got the order on the books. If you look at the bottom, you'll probably find that there is no charges listed...spring is still a ways off, I'm sorry to say.....dean

I was all excited, I got some of the Pres's the first day and I'm sending them in..........not
have to agree with trading slabs...I was all set to send in at least 20 of the new Pres's for labeling as first day issue...then I got home and looked at em...there was not one that would have made MS-66 and maybe only 1 that would have made MS-65...this is not something that I want in my collection, nor could I in good conscience sell these poor examples to other colletors...so now I wait for the mint bags I ordered and pray to the coin gods that they did a better job. that in fact the damage to the coins was done by the rolling machines of string and son's

  18. silver dollar
maybe it's not the mint's problem but instead the armored car companies that actually roll the coins?
as I understand it, the mint sends the newly minted coins to the armored car companies in $70,000.00 bins (loose) for them to roll and distribute. could it be that the machines that they use are doing such a job on our new coins? after all they have already made a fortune selling the coins to the shop at home's

I only had 4 rolls from my local bank....can you say disappointed?
out of 4 rolls...1 might have made MS-65..if ngc was being kind..4 may have made 64, again if they were being nice to me...that left 95 that were 63's or lower...most were probably 63....can any one say major vast disappointment? I have a 250 bag ordered of each..p&d...hope there are better handling for those...i hope..i hope

It is my understanding that Numismedia is a wholesale price guide..not retail...
wholesale is or was supposed to mean a price available to dealers from reciprocating dealers...or in others words..not the normal price available to the general public...retail...but that doesn't seem to mean much these days...in fact all too many "collectors" want to buy at a price with more relationship to an outright steal than a fair price....and the explanation of a "fair price" doesn't really cut it.....when a "collector" is insulted that I won't sell him a coin at 10% of the lowest trend..makes me wonder in what direction this hobby is headed...any one out there had any experience with the sports card industry?
