NGC vs PCGS prices
the one true consumer driven market
the numismactic field is one of if not the only truly consumer driven markets in fact. no matter what value a person puts on a coin, if there's not a consumer out there willing to pay that price, then the coin isn't worth that price. and as long as there are customers willing to pay the inflated price to get that PCGS slab...we will have the differential between the two. possible part of this is due to the snobbish attitude of PCGS that only allows their slabs on their registry. and face it, we are a competition driven society (sad isn't it). and that very competition drives the coin market. "I want to be the only person to have a coin in this grade". you ever heard that? if I had a nickle for every time someone has asked me what a coin is worth..and I had to explain that it was worth whatever someone was willing to pay for it..you can finish that statement, I'm sure. the solution to this problem (?) is simple. first we must identify and educate those consumers who prefer PCGS, that NGC is better (opinion) and convince them that they are equal in value and should be just as desireable. my 3 cents (inflation don't u know)
