  1. I know how much you like the Jefferson nickels. Do you have the Westward Journey series?
  2. So my next question would be to the person in-charge of quality control at the mints.
  3. We are all Carbon Based Units, from the Universe. So the Universe is discovering itself?......I'll answer that. Yes. So when did the first radio wave/signal leave earth, late 1800 early 1900's? So what's that, 120-130 years ago? How fast does a radio signal travel?... The speed of light? What's that, 1,860,000 miles per. second? So that first signal is only 130 light years from earth, which is nothing in the big scheme of things. I guess my point is, if there's other intelligent life out there; no one will know we're here for a very very very long time. But it's fun to think about.
  4. Wow! On proofs! I guess it happens. I have several examples of mint errors in sealed mint sets.
  5. Something I never would have known or even thought about. Thanks Dave! So the next obvious question: @Coincollecting2021- Where did you get it?
  6. Pictures.........................
  7. Including some of the modern junk (Commemoratives) coming out of the mint today. Some would same the US Mint makes coins today, like the Post Office makes stamps!
  8. Yes absolutely, if you know what you're doing no problem. However, I've never met a financial advisor that said:.. Add coins to your portfolio!
  9. Yes fortunately or unfortunately, I'm aware of the up and down side regarding this venture. This coin hobby thing has never been about saving or investment for me. I would never put the words "coins" and "future investment" in the same sentence. If I had to make a living at this, I would have starved to death years ago! Unless you're a professional coin dealer, I'd say forget it. I would even take this a step further by saying; the vast majority of the "major players" (the experts) in this entire numismatic community...... the guys who write the books, magazines, manufacture and produce the coin products (Whitman, etc..), the TPG'er owners/management/employees or even government employees working at the Mints DON'T invest in coins! Indirectly, I would say they are all making a living from/off coins............thanks to us!
  10. Because I'm not a key player. ANACS is fine for me. I don't submit a lot of coins. When I do, I use their specials. I test my non-professional grading skills with them. Yes I know, it's PCGS's board......................right?
  11. I know @GBrad, that poor little girl needs a new pair of legs! There's probably no LIKES because they don't like me! No problem @GBrad, that picture is so perfect it's really hard to tell what it is. Not only that, the poor little girl looks like she's really in pain from those legs!
  12. Great observation on your part! 👍🏻 Didn't even notice the missing initials.
  13. Don't feel bad @SusanN1665, I fell out of my chair years ago (when I didn't know any better), when I found this one!
  14. I don't see any doubling on the Obv or Rev. If it was a DDR, you would see the doubling on the word Monticello. If it was a DDR, it might be worth having graded. It's not a bad looking coin.
