The coin collector HSN and ASE
Mr.Bill347 replied to Mr.Bill347's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
VkurtB did you mean ASE or Quarters. I am only aware of Washington crossing the Delaware and Tuskegee airmen which I a bought a roll of each figuring it the WCD might be a one year only design. Funny I’ve yet to receive one in change. -

Ok forum friends, by now you know that I’ve taken an interest in acquiring and exposing Chinese coin fakes. I found another one except this time was prepared for it. I’ve attached the ad where I purchased a STRANGE looking 2021 ASE. Paid $32.95 for it, but not to worry..please read on.I knew it was a fake because no 2021 Eagle ever looked like this! In fact, they copied the 2021 GOLD EAGLE! once received, I checked it out. weight .5 oz. haha diameter 32.8 mm thickness 2.2 mm non magnetic I reported it to our local Secret Service office, then documented everything for PayPal, explaining that this company was using their payment service to sell illegal counterfeit coins. They issued me a prompt 100% refund. So, if you see an ad for a silver eagle that has the uncanny resemblance of a Gold Eagle. It’s fake! at no cost to me they thought they were cheating me. Last laugh 😂 The problem is the US Secret Service has no jurisdiction in the matter. They suggested I don’t do that anymore! Kinda like the guy who went to the doctor stating “it hurts when I do this “ to which the doctor says. “Well, then stop doing THAT! have a great day my friends

The coin collector HSN and ASE
Mr.Bill347 replied to Mr.Bill347's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
I kept watching, (for some reason) . He’s now selling the same set is MS69 for $179.95. The sales girl said hurry because we’ve already sold nearly 500 sets. I get it he hedges the investment in 800 boxes figuring some percentage will hit 70, the rest surely would be 69, so he covers his cost plus! -
Coin Collector on HSN guy is selling twenty thousand that’s right 20,000 800x500 coins boxes of MS70 ASE ty1 and Ty2 for $299.95! He is warning that they are going to sell out. This is what I dislike most about coin collecting. Ok the FINAL 400 boxes of Ty1 and the FIRST 400 boxes of Ty2. These are monster boxes so what would be the percentage of MS70 could he get from NGC ? 😡 how does this guy get 10% of all those minted?

French 20-franc gold rooster
Mr.Bill347 replied to Henri Charriere's topic in US, World, and Ancient Coins
QA, I’m sorry to hear that. Don’t give me that ripe old age junk, I’m 74 and probably way to serious about collecting which, frankly, is more than the budget can handle. Not to worry, I’m ok, and still buying, but limiting what I buy. I wonder if you truly will be able to do so? I know your way too advanced to not participate here any more. And I would hope your hanging on to your roosters for future generations to enjoy. BTW, we’re you able to pick up that nice example last week? Best wishes as you go forward, whatever your endeavors. It’s certainly been a pleasure reading your knowledgeable posts. -

Any place to sell raw coins?
Mr.Bill347 replied to Rick621's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Rick I’m looking at Beckett and realize if they sell, I can make some significant coin. Their search engine is awesome, and you can search many ways. I already know I have hundreds of cards worth big money and that’s at first glance. thanks for the tip! -
Any place to sell raw coins?
Mr.Bill347 replied to Rick621's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Thanks Rick, from what I can see the raw prices are extremely low, did you go for the high dollar cars first and how did you determine that? -

How to handle gifted collection.

I have a dozen or so proof sets. Ironically I found an old decorative mahogany cigar box which hold them perfectly. I put a few silica bags in it with a couple of rolls of mint coins. You could check with your local cigar afficianado, or cigar store. Alternately, they make storage boxes for the sets. https://brooklyngallery.com/coin-albums/eagle-5-page-proof-set-album-for-sets-2008-quarter-case-thru-2014-quarter-case.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwpf2IBhDkARIsAGVo0D1EuzG1PhT_XRLk7IElU2BC4wa9wFk3nJUgmO4pQuLbaZN5I46kTE0aAk-1EALw_wcB Also a binder sort of thing. https://brooklyngallery.com/coin-albums/eagle-5-page-proof-set-album-for-sets-2008-quarter-case-thru-2014-quarter-case.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwpf2IBhDkARIsAGVo0D1EuzG1PhT_XRLk7IElU2BC4wa9wFk3nJUgmO4pQuLbaZN5I46kTE0aAk-1EALw_wcB even a nice fancy one from Amazon for about $40 Maybe JPMashoke can chime in, he has many to store but never shared how he stores them. Personally it wouldn’t be worth ripping them open and grading them individually, the rule of thumb is it needs to be worth $150.00 to justify that. I would not remove them from original government packaging OGP. welcome collector and good luck!
