  1. I like the Lighthouse slabs with white inserts. They are a little shorter but work nice. they are nearly the height of a TPG slab, seal nice, and come as black inserts from Wizard Coin supply. https://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/index.php?p=catalog&mode=search&search_str=Lighthouse+half+dollar+slab https://www.littletoncoin.com/shop/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=29555&productId=232292&referralCode=WRB?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=surfaces-across-google&gclid=Cj0KCQjwjIKYBhC6ARIsAGEds-KBmKrfotAq6Zl5MyKNynnfnLFX8JG34gT3bLpLn1fduX3wEKfpUzUaAn7ZEALw_wcB a little pricier version. https://www.google.com/shopping/product/1?q=lighthouse+half+dollar+coin+slabs&rlz=1C9BKJA_enUS865US865&hl=en-US&biw=768&bih=909&tbs=vw:l&prmd=sinv&sxsrf=ALiCzsagb0OX7As0mglLPui-tujGYRQheQ:1661043435705&prds=num:1,of:1,eto:16173562750189322545_0,prmr:1,pid:16173562750189322545,cs:1 white everslab 30mm https://www.hobbiesdepot.com/supplies/5-Lighthouse-EVERSLAB-30mm-Graded-Coin-Slabs-1oz-Gold-Maple-Leaf here is a nice 31mm slab on EBay for 30.5mm
  2. Thanks guys, didn’t spend all that much on it. Ten Bucks . I’ll put it in my book where the 1942/41 goes lol?
  3. Karen I have one of those funny nickels too. Except mine has a crack in the door!
  4. I purchased this dime that the seller indicated was a 1942/1942 P Mercury Dime. I can see doubling and a die crack and light "GOD"/"COD" Please let me know what you think, ha I'm sure you will!
  5. Yes, I figure it may not be worth the trouble to return and hope. Its worth more than I paid for it and the Last Ben Franklin I need for the MS64FBL set.
  6. Sandon i put the coin under the microscope this morning, the line goes completely through the bell 🔔 and beyond. So I.m starting to think you are right, the toning is probably not likely to indicate a scratch inside the plastic as it would have a clear line, not dark, the crossed lines sort of work against the scratch on the coin idea as well. I guess I’ll just leave it alone, as you stated, they probably took that into account in grading. thanks for your help!
  7. Today I got a response from PCGS. I don’t agree with their assessment at all. If the mark is in the coin, it would go through the bell lines. Also the picture of the full reverse looks different than the cropped reverse regarding that mark. Frankly I think it’s a sharpie mark on the inside of the holder. Should I send it back or not? Debbie Givens-Gadson (Collectors Universe) Aug 19, 2022, 09:32 PDT Hello Thank you for contacting PCGS! You can submit the coin back for re-holder. The picture looks like it could be on the coin. If it is on the coin we can not remove it. Thank you Debbie PCGS Customer Service
  8. Thanks Coinbuf! Excellent point. There is some Esthetic value in the old “fatty” holders, it would risk downgrading which would defeat the advantage of a VAM. I’ll keep it the way it is as JP said.
  9. Speaking of reholdering, the 1883 CC Morgan I just received is in a similar holder but seems to show characteristics of a VAM-2 , how would I submit that, reholder and variety?
  10. I was actually going to buy that one today, because I liked it. I would hold off and get one already graded when the retailers figure out that the public did not go crazy like they thought. I dis-enrolled from the Eagle, Morgan and Peace dollars this week, because I don’t approve of the cheap mode the mint is in right now. as far as grading medals, I have one in particular that I love, plus a lot of commemorative coins graded.
  11. Oops. Yea it’s bullion, but selling graded first releases for $49?? Somebody is trying to unload!
  12. I just UN-enrolled from the Morgan/Peace dollars and the Silver Eagle. I'm not happy with their direction at all.
  13. I think it is better than I thought and maybe even under graded. I absolutely love it! A good price too! I am not a VAM expert by any means, but this CC has some striking die characteristics. LemE what ya think? I’m leaning towards VAM 2
  14. Would sure like to see them. Photos? I have just read the following: (Picture) I for one am discontinuing purchasing Eagles, Morgan’s,and Peace dollars and have unchecked my enrollments for same
  15. JP, I am an insufficiently_thoughtful_person with dislexia and an eye getting a cataract! I apologize to you and everyone that I raised alarm with in this incident. I did learn a lesson, don’t add a coin to the registry on your phone!,, bad idea AND I CANT SEE WORTH A S**T anymore! Thanks JP.
  16. EagleRJO OKAY, the 1951 D Ben Franklin that we discussed… when I got it approved for my registry it displays an 1885 O dollar. Does that mean it is a fake slab?
  17. Couch collectibles is not a authoritative source
  18. Yep. Now I am convinced after putting it under thE microscope, that it is an internal scratch.
  19. Neophyte, this is the picture with the shadow, it moves depending on light.
