    Before you make your final decision on toning, might I suggest a little 5 cent thread in the US forum. You seem to like nickels so what’s it going to hurt to take a peek? If you don’t find something that happens to catch your eye in there then maybe toning isn’t for you. 
    By the way, I agree that the coins above are no bueno.

    A toned coin is good when you find it attractive. If you like this one better than the current one in your Dansco then go ahead and swap it out. It is your collection. Do whatever makes you happy.

    Its in a coin flip. I really like the one you posted also. Thats what gave me the idea to post it. I been wanting one really bad. A really wonderful friend of mine gave me one and a few other coins. Im very grateful. Figured Id keep it in the flip cause I never plan on selling it. It will be passed down one of these days along with the story about Henning.

    Oh, they got glances.  First, Henning initially deposited A LOT of nickels with the same date.  This caused some questions and spurred him to make more dates.  The 1944 is the one that got him caught.  A dealer found a 1944 and thought he had a new/rare variety with a missing MM, and later called the FBI.  From there, Henning's days were numbered as he was hunted (and caught) by the Feds.  He dumped most of his stash of coins in the Delaware River outside Philadelphia.  Many of these were later found my the FBI's use of military grade metal detectors. 
    I don't own one of these coins (of course), but if I did... It would look a LOT like the one I posted.

    Meant to post this the other day and forgot, bought this 14-S from the same forum member on the PCGS forum that I bought the 23 posted earlier.   Has a nice bit of color, PCGS graded MS63; slab needs a bit of a polish.
