  1. IMO it’s too straight to be a die crack. Not saying it can’t happen, but usually a crack will follow the profile of something along its way and veer one way or another or hit a gap and stop. I do see sections that look like cracks and some that look smooth and bubbled. I say plating issue given the year of the coin and the issues they had with plating during that time. Still have them now. May be a combination of both.
  2. Glad to see you my friend. Been a while since I have seen the Squatch. Hope you are doing well.
  3. I would have liked to see the Longacre J-561 5 cent pattern used. I really like the reverse design.
  4. Obviously I do not feel the ethical obligation. In my defense, I do consider this a type of documentation for my set and have kept every label. I’m sure most of them just end up in the trash.
  5. I haven’t totally lost my mind…yet.
  6. Looks like some cool stuff if everything turns out legit. @Henri Charriere might get a kick out of this one…or be sad it was turned into jewelry.
  7. This one arrived today. The original intent was to crack this piece out for the Dansco album but the holder is in such nice condition that I can’t bring myself to crack it out. I might have to find a different piece for the Dansco.
  8. Last time I checked there were around 35 examples across all years and grades AU-58 and lower with a full step designation in the NGC census. I have 2 of them in my collection. One is a 1941 D AU-58 6FS and the other is a 1989 P AU-58 5 FS. I think they were $30 for the 41 and $20 for the 89. I bought them as curiosity pieces because, at the time, I thought that they had to be mint state to get a FS designation. This holds true ATS but NGC will give anything that has full steps the designation.
  9. I highly disagree. Nice toning can impact the price of a coin 10 fold and can even bump a grade up. Here are a couple of examples. These coins without the toning are average $20/50 coins. https://www.ebay.com/itm/204491780890?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=PE82r1_dRIu&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=j9LjZZhwTEm&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY https://www.ebay.com/itm/134770178933?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=PE82r1_dRIu&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=j9LjZZhwTEm&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  10. This is the type of stuff I just don’t get. Do people buy things like this? I don’t know if the seller is good, bad or a little touched in the head but the price is just a bit steep. I do feel that if a buyer doesn’t take a minute and think about buying something like this then they deserve to own it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/134572724311?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=3FzRmuDwRkC&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=j9LjZZhwTEm&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  11. Not as abundant as one would think. 2004 P Handshake pops NGC MS-66 / 184 MS-66 PL / 16 MS-67 / 51 MS-67 PL / 11 MS-68 / 0 MS-68 PL / 1
  12. I don’t open any of the rolls. All I can see are the enders. This is just a little side project of mine. I went all out with the mint roll boxes to put this set together. I have boxes for the next 2 years as well. I would venture to guess mostly 65 and 66 coins with the occasional 67 out of these rolls. Probably the same results from a fresh fed bank roll.
  13. I don’t think the Philly coins came out of the grading room very well and then people are probably looking for the DDO as well. The Denver coins are easier to find in higher grades. I still don’t have a P Handshake example yet.
  14. This piece came today as well. Bright white and clean. No die cracks.
  15. Another year complete with the arrival of the Maria Tallchief rolls.
