  1. That is gorgeous. Would realy like to find one like that. Im with @Fenntucky Mike on the Cobalt blues also. I really like those as well.
  2. Exactly. Ive seen some in ms67 that look plum awful. And see an ms 66 thats twice as attractive. I cant stand that. I got a couple im gonna replace some day after i get my set completed. Such as this one. Looks really bad to me.
  3. Very beautiful. I like rainbow toners like that. I dont like the ones that is overwhelming such as on alot of the Morgans.
  4. I really like the sheen on this GW. It is one of my favorites I own.
  5. Yes sir !!!! Those are very nice. Thats what i like to see.
  6. I also like wood grain looking toning such as on lincoln cents and on some nickles such as this buffalo i own. Not sure the proper terminology for it but it gets me excited to see coins like that. I had to have this buffalo soon as i saw it.
  7. Im riding home from work and we got a good little trip ahead of us. My boss is driving so i thought id get on here and do some chating with my good friends. Dont get to spend as much time on here as i used to. After seeing the thread from@Coinbuf on the blast whites, it got me to thinking about toned coins. I wanted to share my opinion on toning and would like to hear the opinions of others. Im more of a blast white fan and lightly golden toning also. Not real big on rainbow toning. Not real big on dark toned coins either even though i own both. I really like coins that are lightly toned around the rim such as the one im posting below. Whats some of your guys thoughts on toning? I really enjoy hearing everyones thoughts. Thank you my friends.
  8. Very nice @Coinbuf. I love blast whites. Or just light golden toning also. Not a real big rainbow man. Some are somewhat ok. Id take a blast white any day over rainbows.
  9. I love the design of these. Both sides of the coin. I have the proof in pf70. Im planning on getting uncirculated one in ms70 someday soon.
  10. There are all kinds of different stamped coins out there. Some people collect them even though it damages the coin and any value they may have had. Most of them ive seen has been on coins that were not worth anything to begin with. We may never know why people do it. Some are pretty neat though. Ive ran across a couple stamped coins. I put them in my collection even tho they are damaged and worthless.
  11. Let us know how how it works out if u do. Good luck my friend.
  12. Wow!!! Those are hazed over. Espically the dime and nickle. I believe id try see if they will do an exchange. Looks like some of the old proof sets i have from the 1970s.
  13. The professional numismatist on here have been dealing with coins for years and years. They know what to look for and can almost tell right away between genuine examples and fakes and replicas. As @Mowhawk said above I dont want to mention any details on what they look for. But they are good at what they fo.
  14. Very cool and interesting coin. I really like it alot. Would love to own one someday.
  15. I have really good luck at GC. Ive bought several coins from them. Never had a problem. But, ive never bought a very expensive coin. Most the ones i buy are in the up to a hundred dollars range.
  16. Something else. Make sure you will be satisfied with a coin before you buy it. I wish i had waited on a few.
  17. Ive been working on a full set of silver Washington quarters. 1932 to 1964. Ive been working on it for almost a year and ive only got it almost half way completed. I started on the less expensive coins first. I also made a checklist where i can see which ones i like and which ones ive bought. Was wanting to get them all in mint shape but im going to have to lower my expectations when i get to the key dates. Ill have to settle for an XF or two. I just cant afford them. Maybe one of these days i will but not now. Ive also been watching auctions for good deals. Ive got some great deals on some that way. The main thing ive found with some wisdom of some of the wonderful veterans on this forum, is to take your time. At first i wanted to try and hurry and get them as fast as i could and settled for a not so pretty coin or two. Then see one a month or two later that is way more attractive at a better price. Good luck on your adventure. Ive had a blast working on mine. Layed eyes on some very nice coins i really really wanted and got outbid on them. Couldnt afford to bid no more but there will always be another one to replace it farther along on the journey you will come across and maybe they dont run the bid up on you.
  18. My opinion of it is that its not near as beautiful as the original. The older one got way more detail in the eagles feathers. Still a beauty though. Wish i would have had the money to try for one at the time.
