Oh yes I love the new design of the silver eagle. I am happy for you that you got yours in such a lofty grade and if you are happy with it so are we. I myself only have 1 proof 70 silver eagle in my collection that i purchased that way just because it was the 2000 millinium silver eagle. otherwise i have everyone both proof and ms (except for the 95-w) in either a Dansco album or in OGP. Thats just how i collect them. others may do it different.

with this arthitis i would have to be in the nope cata gory becasue sometimes it hurts to hit these little keys on this laptop
why do they make the board so small that someone with slightly larger hands hit three keys at a time?

WHile 90% of the mofern proof and mints sets may be eligible for these lofty grades anything before 1990 could be iffy getting a 69 or a 70. so i wouldnt go there!!! look at your coins and any and i mean anything looks a skew and you are down to the 68 level ..........

Do not be surprised if, after a few years, your encapsulated (NGC, PCGS) ASEs developed spots. It s
100% agree.. I bought a 2000 just becasue it was the new millinium, in MS69 (it was a good deal) and after 12 years it has this nice golden toning frm around 6 o'clock to 2; i was like hummm that wasnt there when i got it??? which leads me to another reason i have sworn off grading Eagles.... both proof and MS.. I just leave the proffs in OGP and the MS ones in a dansco ..........

So this happened to me as well back about 10 to 15 years ago when i bought a few Indians from a dealer in Coins magazine. they were the first Inian cents i ever purchased that were advertized as Gem Unc. before then it was just the whitman folders and filling the holes. I sent them off to NGC back in the day and when i got them back i was like WT@#~%% everyone of them wer ungradeable Altered color. Well live and learn. then find a dealer that will putupu with a million questions about the series you will have it made.. jut my expirence from the jungle.

dude awesome find!! congratulations!!!! if you find another one send it along!

Total Newbie Here - best advice/resources for cataloging a collection?
in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Posted
Being an IT guy you can use use an Excel spreadsheet. or you can download a checklist form the various dealers and coin website that carry them. usually single demnomination style check sheets.Liberty Coin service has a few right off the toip of my head.
For loose cicrulated coind the old blue whitman folders are great. for uncirculated i would try stafree flips these are good all purpose holders and will fit nicely in the 2 X 2 notebook style pages.
AS always listen to the advice of some of these guys they ahve been doing this for a long time... never touch the urface of the coins, always handle by the edges, and never ever clean them!
lastly I hope you have a wonderful and fun time going through them. because thats what its all about. enjoymnent!
