  1.  I get what you're saying. On the 'for-profit companies as arbitrators' part, anything can happen. If they say it is, then I guess it is. A few years from now, they'll be a 'first hour of first day of first year' release. Unusual designations?  Not being deceived, just creating want, a desire, where none should exist. You fall for it or you don't, and that's from TPGs. The BIG deception of the future is what we can already see happening. Whether we like it or not, so called 'errors' is gaining momentum, and when it explodes in popularity in youthful coin enthusiasts, so be it. It'll be painful to see the machine doubling coins bought, sold, rebought etc... Scams and cons galore, and not just rediculous Etsy, everywhere, driven by demand, truthful documentation be d__ed.

  2. Sorry for your loss. A good story about a good lifelong friend. I'm 73, and have been surrounded, sometimes overwhelmed by addicted friends. I understand, and have my own stories about longtime true friends, but could never say it like you just did. Thanks for sharing. Sleep well, you were there for him, and he knew it.

  3.  Welcome to the chat forum! ---- When I read the thread topic, I rolled my eyes and mumbled "here we go again". What a surprise, and how refreshing it was when I immediately saw it was indeed a CAM!!! Congratulations!!!!   Grade? Who knows, about an AU55 is my GUESS. . Don't be disappointed if it grades EF45, and be very thankful if AU55. (You lucky dog) LoL......I don't search anymore, but this made my day.

  4.  I drove back to the pawn shop this morning. It's partnership owned by four UNT student young ladies here in Denton Tx..  Although they've only been opened for three months, they're calling it quits and closing. They had hoped to make a profit in diamonds/jewelry, but soon realized one of them needed a gun dealer license to make it work. They decided that since they were so close to 4 colleges and H schools, that they didn't want anything to do with that part of the trade, and understandably so. I get it.

Nonetheless, she let me pour out the bucket on a bench and go through its contents. Found nothing of value, but the hunt was fun, a kid in a candy store. I always buy Something, found these 3 and gave her $5 and wished her well on her next capitalist journey.20240213_143319.thumb.jpg.50d88c2d14b98a4c838611d98a3c37fc.jpg20240213_143307.thumb.jpg.4705946d43e9009c0129b5e18b96cc40.jpg

  5.  I'm considering it. I have to drive from Texas to S Carolina on New Years day, unsure about traffic conditions. If all works well, fingers crossed, then I plan on going. At this moment three months is too far away in my somewhat chaotic life to reserve a motel/hotel room in advance. I sure would like to meet the infamous Idhair that forever keeps me entertained and awestruck when looking at the 'Follow the Lead' thread.

  6. I glued my 1931S penny to my doorbell ringer button. The S was the wrong size for that year. Luckily, I found it in pocket change at the Sonic drive thru window and didn't purchase it.

The horribly faked Morgans that my wife purchased for me as a gift online several years ago, at a whopping $1.99 apiece, I tacked onto fence posts for my grandson to target practice with his 22 cal rifle. When they originally arrived and I opened the package, I kept grinning and gave her a hug with a big thank you. I waited till that night to give her a coinworld 101 lesson on fakes, Etsy, bidding scams, etc... I was on a roll, and figured I might as well enlighten her about online jewelry scams as well,  before she showed me her 4 carrot diamond that she outbid people for $100 or some other nonsense.
