I have been following this for a while now and tried to bite my tongue. I for one research a lot and submit a little for your review. This week I went and watched a group of 9 year old kids play an all-star baseball game. When the game ended I was foolish enough to ask who won. A mother of one of the kids said to me "we don't keep score, we just want them to feel good about them self's." If there is no winner then they all are losers, If people are not taught that there is a difference in doing something right and just doing something this is what happens. When the get a job they think the should get paid just for being there. Then think they should get paid the same as a person that works hard and get promoted. My coin with a PMD flatted S, should be worth as much as that coin. If there was a company that gave some selling an approval certificate, and could with draw it if they did not meet a standard, it would help all the new coin collectors. Then people could chose to buy from a certified dealer or just get what ever someone want from someone out to make money.

Nice find. I would of used some of those , some of mine are not to good. But at least I have something in the spot.

Thank you @RWB us new coin collectors really like the help you guys give us. Your knowledge is so nice to tap into. I do not think some of the people really apricate what all you and other do for the collecting community. I for one have learned a lot. I am sorry that my eyes are so bad that I can not read your books, so I could learn even more and in some detail.

What a great gift to git from someone, you or he can spend a life time adding to it and learning together. I am not one of the pros here, but I have a large collection of proof and mint sets, all of them from 1956 to this year. I am one who like to leave then in their government packaging. Most proof set are worth more than face value, The ones before 1964 have silver in them. You can get all the proof sets from 1967 to 2008 for under $400. Most of these will sell for $7 to $10 each. the 1976 and 1999 sets seem to sell for more. the 2012 set sells for a lot more. Just so you know you have some of the best pros in RWB, Just Bob, and JKK answering you, and giving you advice. There are a lot of books out to help you. 90% of what you find on Utube if not good info.

I know what you mean about price. I need three more and they will cost me more than all the others combined.

I only get one of each to put in my collection. As long as I still get mine I'm ok with it.

I just found my first George Washington P Park today. Will trade one of my P for a D.

I went to the back today, my weekly roll search pick up. They had saved me these; 2-1946 walking liberty's, 2-1950, 2-1951, 1-1951D, 1-1952D, 1-1953P, 1-1957D, 1-1960, 2-1960D, 1-1962D Franklins. I got them at face value, but I am thinking someones dad or grand father is going to be up set.

Aug, 24 the mint is releasing a two coin ASE set. Any one know if this is part of the ASE enrollment program or am I going to be on the computer trying to crash their site again?

In short NO

The mint computer system stinks. The way the mint sells some of its' coins is a joke. I am enrolled to buy proof sets and ASE, but when ever they have a special release it is not included. Not every one can be off at noon, and if by chance you are the dang computer is gong to crash, it has happened time and time again but the do nothing about it. I feel that a person in the enrollment of a coin series should be give a chance to buy the cone offered. Maybe at a mark up, but when they sell it at $90 and have a limit of what ever and you can't get in that's not right. How is it that the big coin guys have lots they can sell for 100s in profit and the little guy can;t even get one?

That is for sure a 65 D with six S under it. For sure a keeper. as for getting it graded you may not recoup the money it cost. But I did see one on a web site going for around $3,000. It was from some place in Nevada.

Being a mint set and proof set collector I have to agree doe the most part they do not increase much as a whole. There are some notable exceptions. The 1981 proof set and any of the 2012 set make up for all the other set I have,

I am new at this but let me understand something. You are saying that the same coin once you slab and grade it the same should cost the same price? SO the 2021 ASE, one comes in a nice blue box, and one comes in the Congratulation Package, once they are put in a slab, you can not tell them a part, both are PR70, should be the same price?

@Macquelif you post clear pics of the front and back of your coins some of the people here can give you an idea of the gread.

@J P Mashoke, I love Proof sets. They are what I started my collection with. I have all the sets from 1965 to 2021. The silver proof sets that came out starting in 1992 made a great addition to my collection The 57 set is one of my favorite. Maybe because it tells my age too.

@SharannYes they made a 3 coin set in 1976. they also make proof set, silver proof sets, and American Silver Eagles.

I thank when I got my set it cost some where around $60 and the one in after market holders were $5 less. I have OGP proof sets form 1956. You can buy 1968 - 1999 sets for under $15 a set.( even Mile sales 1965 -2008 all for $399 LOL) I think the 2012 cost a lot more because not a lot was made. I thank proof sets are beautiful and reasonable coin to collect,

I Agree, When I first started collecting coins a very smart old man, (my father), Told me the same thing, A coin is only worth what you are willing to pay for it. Collect what you like and you will always love your collection, no mater what others say it is worth. That's my thoughts for my 100th post on here.
