  1. Welcome to the forum Why would you want a common quarter to be graded. It would cost you about $55-60.00 to grade. Getting coins graded without the proper knowledge is a great way to lose money. There were over 860 million D mintmark produced and with the condition of yours with the damage isn’t worth much more than face value. Unless a coin is worth at least $150- 200.00, it is not worth the cost of grading.
  2. According to Numista, there were 244,800,00 minted, more than any others year in tha t series.
  3. What type of error do you think that may be. All I see is a die chip between even the last column and the F. Always show a complete photo of both sides of the coin along with a 10X closeup of your area of concern. Your closeup is way too magnified to get a good perspective of any problem.
  4. Just poor plating of the copper to the zinc cores. Not uncommon on zincoins and not considered an error or adds any value.
  5. A 1989 is struck on copper plated zinc, not copper. There is damage to the date but the 9 still looks like a 9, not a 2
  6. Welcome to the forum If it is the same, then you also have a damaged coin worth 1 cent.
  7. Dryer coin or spooned coin, they are both considered damage. You cannot have a quarter without reeding unless it was stuck out of collar which yours was not. When you say “mistakes” , I assume you mean errors. There are no errors on your coin. Still worth 25cents though no matter how much damage.
  8. Spot value can change daily. Just look up the value of gold that day and multiply it by the weight of your coin. Example: Spot $2100.00 x 1/2 oz. gold coin = spot value of $1050.00.
  9. If it was a die break, it would be raised, not incuse. What you have is just damage and wear. Suggest you read up on the minting process and what constitutes an error to save you the time of posting damaged coins. A good place to start is error-ref.com
  10. The fact that the rims have almost disappeared indicates that it has been attacked by acid. which naturally reduces the weight. Cropping and rotating your pictures would also help. We don’t need all that background, just the coin.
  11. So now we have two separate posts on the same coin. Not surprisingly the answer is the same on both. A cud from a broken die.
  12. That is called a cud caused by a broken die. Please work on your photography, in this case it is acceptable but if we have to see fine detail, it would be of no use.
  13. Robertdpg You have been told by five knowledgeable members that your nickel is damage. If you are not going to believe anyone and question the answers, then spend the $55-60.00 it will cost you to have it certified. I can guarantee that you will get the same answer and your nickel will still be worth 5 cents.
  14. Quick question, if it was a dime stamped on a nickel, how would a nickel fit in a dime collar. It is easy to see that it is a vice job / glue by the fact that the copy of the dime is in reverse.
  15. If there is no glue on it ( hard to tell from a screen shot) then it is what is known as a vice or garage job. Someone has pressed another coin into it. It is now considered a damaged coin.
  16. It is worth 5 cents so not worth submitting. Someone has put glue on the nickel and pressed a dime into it. You could probably remove it by soaking it in acetone overnight.
  17. Just a damaged nickel worth 5 cents. Nothing there that would occur when the coin was struck.
  18. There are two types of 42/41 dime varieties. Yours is the the D mint variety As mentioned, always supply a complete photo of both sides along with your closeup.
  19. There are some for sale on eBay asking around $4-5.00.
  20. Welcome to the forum Simple answer, no. Unless a coin is worth at least $150-200, it is not worth grading. None of the coins shown are worth near that.
  21. Sharon420 Please do not piggyback on another thread. If you have a question, start your own thread with a clear photo of both sides along with your question. In your case without even seeing photos, I can tell you that you do not have a 1964 SMS cent.
  22. When you are saying droplets, I take it that they are raised. There is no way that happened during the striking of the coin so it is damage of some sort. Sometimes with damage unless you were there at the time, you may never know exactly how it happened but it doesn’t really matter, damage is damage.
  23. HudsonByrne Of course you can ask a question, that is what is forum is about. Just make sure you post a complete clear photo of both sides along with your question. Start a new thread for each coin. ( one coin per thread).
  24. Welcome to the forum Nothing there that would be considered an error, just damage. Remember, it is only an error if it happens during the striking of the coin. Anything that happens once the coin is ejected is considered damage.
