LDH Coins & Memorabilia replied to LDH Coins & Memorabilia's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Thanks to everyone for calming my impulse down to buy something I would regret before ever seeing coin LOL. When I get close to completion of a set I lose focus LOL I have completed and upgraded other set but this set has taken the longest. God Bless all and Happy Thanksgiving -

Thanx and I totally agree I have been searching for that coin to complete set but prices haven't cooperated Thanx again ! -
Hello all, I have read previous threads about spots or marks on coins but I would appreciate if I could get some opinions on the attached coin. It's on ebay for 1500 which is more than I want to pay but I more concerned about spot. Thanx for any feedback PS: Sorry I wasn't able to post picture but eBay item number:404004056112 -- Sorry for inconvenience

Green Bean Crossover
LDH Coins & Memorabilia replied to LDH Coins & Memorabilia's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
I agree - but sometimes I'm not as patient as I need to be. Based off HA and GC lately prices aren't coming down to reality (based on coins I'm looking ). Also, I haven't found any decent coin shops in central North Carolina, but I have a coin club but they aren't into slabbed coins, only raw. Coin shows are available but good prices are far and few between. I guess I will learn patience with GC, HA, and ebay. -
Green Bean Crossover
LDH Coins & Memorabilia replied to LDH Coins & Memorabilia's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Thanx for input and the additional toning posts were interesting and informative. Of my sets, most of them are a mixture of NGC and PCGS (mostly NGC), but I realized my Peace. set (all dates and all mints were a few coins short all PCGS. Last coin was the 1934 S Peace dollar (NGC AU 58 with CAC) but the bidding went too far past my range. Although someone on this forum said I have more cents than sense but I have limitations. Thanx for asking -
Green Bean Crossover
LDH Coins & Memorabilia replied to LDH Coins & Memorabilia's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
My apologies to the forum for stereotyping because of a few comments on grading, and thank you Goldfinger1969 for the information. I've been hunting for one coin to complete all date & all mint marks set but all I see are overpriced ones in the needed TPG slab but I see one in the other TPG reasonably priced but needs crossover to keep set uniformity. Thanks to all -
Although I realize (from past responses on forum) the negative financial impact of grading coins, and also the the CAC "green bean" is a gimmick, but I would like to know the forum thoughts on: Does a CaC sticker give you a better chance of having a coin crossover to other TPG and retain same grade ? thanx in advance

Ebay vs GC
LDH Coins & Memorabilia replied to LDH Coins & Memorabilia's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Thanx for input I always compare Ebay sold and current listings and the same for GC, and GC wins most times. The sellers on both items I was interested in have well over 1000 good sales and no negative Based on GC historical data, they could make more if they sold on GC Thanx again -
Normally GC beats Ebay prices but I was comparing Peace prices and Ebay was better - Thoughts ?

Another Fake? 1903-O & 1902-S Morgans
LDH Coins & Memorabilia replied to EagleRJO's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Newbie Question: How could a fake be in a slab ? Is the label the fake ? I thought slabbed coins were pretty safe ? -
CORRECTION: Sorry for the Newbie mistake ; those fees for selling (that I first posted above) are from GC, not HA. I have been buying and selling on GC, but have only purchased from HA. I am just learning HA but I like GC better. EagleRJO : Your assessment is spot on in terms of hammer price and FMV. GC waives seller's fee for coins sold over 1,000. I have not determined selling fees on HA. I agree with sticking with GC but I monitor HA for coins wanted but I bid more very cautiously than HA due to that hammer price that you were speaking of

Coin Collecting Ideas Welcome
LDH Coins & Memorabilia replied to EagleRJO's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Lighthouse makes albums that hold 4 or 6 "Encap" sheets and it sheet holds 9 slabbed coins. The down side is they are expensive (35 to 55 dollars), and the sheets run about 5 bucks each. I like them because I can pull out a album which contains 36 to 54 coins at one time. -
Hello all, although I know the forum's thoughts on grading but I thought this was interesting. I sent 12 coins (4 of each mint mark) to one of the 2 leading grading companies. They sent back coins with labels for 8 Philadelphia and 4 Denver but there was actually 4 San Frans that they labeled "P". How can I trust the grade when they see a P instead of a S on a coin LOL

CAC Question
LDH Coins & Memorabilia replied to LDH Coins & Memorabilia's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Thanx for input, and I truly love GC & Ian, and trust their option and I agree with your assessment of possible increase sale price. I guess what is puzzling is all of the other coins didn't make the cut which tells me something about the grading (maybe the grade is under or over graded. Or maybe I don't unstained the meaning of CAC which I thought just verifies grade of thier work Thanx again and if it increases sale value - I'm willing to foot the bill. I probably wouldn't request it on real coin ?? v/r -
Hello Coin Lovers and Experts, I have another Newbie question: I have been dealing with GC (buying and selling) for about a year and I always leave start price and CAC options to GC. For the first time, they request the CA option on a 4 coin submission I made. My question is what causes this action considering I've submitted similar coins (grade / price range) they never were sent for CAC v/r ldhall

My CC set is missing the above coins to complete the set, and as a newbie, I was wondering if either of these coins would fill slots in the registry (before I purchase) ? 1880-CC MS62 PCGS# 7100.62/44669581 1880-CC MS64 NGC # 012663-52 1879-CC XF-45 PCGS # 7088.45/36145777 Or does the coins have to only be the coins shown on the "see coins tab" on registry ? Thank you in advance. My reading and looking at pictures hasn't helped

I am starting to add my coins to the registry and when I used auto build for the CC set. My PCGS 1880CC #9169130 was approved to 1880 Rev 1879. How could they tell without seeing coin ? I actually didn't know there was 2 slots for each year of 1879 and 1880. How do you know how many slots will be in a certain set or can you request adjustments to number slots. Please excuse my learning curve LOL and sorry for poor photos - I need a new phone !
