Good for you, Tom! I like the die crack on the reverse, but I am more fascinated by her smile. It seems almost erotic. Lovely!

I got these at the coin club meeting on Tuesday night:
I'd take them out of those soft flips if I were you!

As kids, we lived near the railroad tracks. We used to place cents, nickels & dimes on top of the rails just before a freight train would come into town. Somtimes we would find them after the train passed and sometimes we wouldn't, but we still kept doing it. I don't remember what ever happened to the coins.

Cool story, Woody, but I know why you couldn't locate the jar. A week after you buried it, your brother went back and got the cash.

My Newbie to the collection
That is a nice one, Mike. I've got one coming in the next few days, and I can't wait to get it.

I posted after the Baltimore show that I purchased three coins, and one of those coins was immediately put on the boards, but the other two coins were never shared. This is one of the two previously not shown coins. It is an 1806/5 Draped Bust half graded EF45 by PCGS. The images, while quite good, really do not capture the character of the coin. The areas that appear darker on the screen are actually a deep, frosty navy in color while the remainder of the coin is the grey that appears in the images.
I was beginning to wonder about that. I thought you may have left them at Bob's house. Tom, I'm not very knowledgeable on Bust Halves, but I just noticed that 6 of the stars on the obverse appear larger than the other 7. It doesn't look like it's due to wear either. Can you explain?

When searching my 2005-P uncir. mint sets for the minnesota quarter error , one of the sets had 2 minnesota quarters in them. The 2nd minnesota quarter was in the slot for the california quarter,so the calif. quarter is missing from the sealed 5 quarter set. I'm a newbie and was wondering how this happened and is it rare for this type of packing error? I purchased approx. 10 of these sets and this was the only one like this. Do these type of sets sell for a premium??? Thanks for any help offered.
Not really. Mint Sets don't usually have the close inspection that is common with the Proof Sets, so packaging mistakes like this do happen from time to time.

Hi all
I just joined and this sounded like an interesting thread for my first post. My most recent acquisitions are, a roll of 1965 canadian half dollars, very nice, proof like, some with some toning. Also I bought a couple of the John Pinches 1974 United nations Flags silver ingots, again very noce, very crisp, spotless. And, I bought a 'grab bag' of US coins on ebay. Not sure what to make of it really. There was a nice Commeroative Silver Proof Washington half dollar and a couple of silver kennedy quaters, some early 1900 dimes, and some 1950's 1 cents.
Welcome to the neighborhood, tmb! Anything interesting happening, numismatic-wise, in the UK? By chance, do you know anyone who has any French, Belgian, or Swiss medals for sale? I don't mean the kind with dead monarchs on them.....more of the allegorical figures like the French Marianne.
There are alot of friendly, knowledgeable people, here, so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

James, it is absolutely gorgeous! It looks better in hand than in your photo. (This isn't intended to demean your photographic ability.) But, I think you have underestimated the depth of the mirrors. Maybe it was due to the slab. I'm tempted to crack it out because it doesn't deserve to be confined. If I do, I'll be sure to post some reflective pictures.
I have always appreciated your candor and honesty, and that is why I like doing business with you.
Thanks,
Chris

I couldn't believe that I won this HK-588 for the opening bid of $9.99. Oops! I made a mistake. I looked at the wrong print-out. The correct price is $41.00. I had a bunch of stuff come in from the Post Office, all at once, that was being held while I was in Las Vegas. Still, I'm happy because this is my first silver "Termination". I wonder what it will grade?

It is a company that constructs electric powerplants. I wish that I was better at taking photos of the toning because it is really a striking piece.
