My statement is also a double edged sword - I may not

want interference either - and if its something I'm willing

to "go to the mat for" - something I have my heart set on,

then I'd appreciate some consideration - as I would be as

considerate if someone approached me on a coin they

    "must have" in their collection.

There are those occasions that two - or more - collectors

are bound and determined to secure a specific coin at all

costs - and that will happen - and then " all bets are off".

    Just my thoughts...

  2.

    Dkillett2 - That's a really nice DMPL Carson City Morgan !!!

...and ... welcome to the NGC Boards !!

Really nice doesn't seem good enough - and although I don't

collect DMPL Morgans, a good friend's brother does and he'll

be green with envy when he sees that one !!

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shane - mighty colorful coin there - stunning !!

My newps are on the Barber Thread - just picked up a very

colorful 1911-P Quarter - its sweet . Check it out.

  3.

Thought this was a nicely toned common dated Quarter

and a Grade Match to the 1911-D & 1911-S I have in the

    collection.

I plan on havng my Quarter collection professionally imaged

in the near future. I feel my Quarters are the stars of all my

    Barbers.

    1911-PQuarterPCGS64LG.jpg

Upon checking my ledger sheets, it seems as though all my

1911 Quarters [ P-D-S ] all came from David Lawrence Rare Coins.

They seem to always have a consistantly nice selection of

mid range MS Barbers - their images are not the best - but

all of the coins I've received from them were much nicer than

their images portrayed them to be.

  4. Jon - Nice V Nickel !!

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Continuing with the Red Stick Collection of Halves I bought this past

    December...

    The 1902-P - PCGS VF 30 - [ already upgraded with an AU 58 ]:

    1902-50C-PCGS-VF30.jpg

Here's the replacement - I had five AU 58's - its a long story - and I decided to sell off the VF 30 - and keep one of the 58's for this set. The another 58 is in my better set - and the other AU's are sold to one of my favorite dealers.

    1902-S PCGS 20 - [ about to be upgraded with an XF 45 ] :

This replacement in XF 45 is on its way to me as I type this:

  5.

    Jon,

    I didn't run it up - I had a large Max bid -

and you came out of nowhere and out bid me.

What else could I do ? Of course I rebid

hoping to knock out the competition. Regardless

you still got a great looking coin at PCGS published

pricing. Nice material usually goes for more than

the PCGS published price. Sometimes, double. You

    were lucky no one had a Snipe bid in on that coin;

I've been beaten out by snipe bids more than I care

    to mention.

Wait till you look for a 1905-O Half in XF 45 - AU 50,

    you'll be more than surprised.

You can always send me a PM if you want something

and want no interference - its silly to be bidding against

    fellow board members.

I have my eyes on a nice XF 45 on eBay now; and have

bid accordingly. Its my nominal starting bid - before I put

"the hammer down" at the end.

  6. ...1901...

This XF 40 - 1901-P has warm grey tones and I have no

plans on ever upgrading this coin...

    1901-50C-PCGS-XF40.jpg

This 1901-O is also an XF 40 and I have no plans on upgrading it either:

    1901O-50C-PCGS-XF40.jpg

This VF 25 - 1901-S just match the other 1901's in the set:

    1901S-50C-PCGS-VF25.jpg

I replaced the VF 25 with this beautiful AU 50 [ its an XF 45 in my eyes ]:

    The year...1899...

This 1899-P isn't on the upgrade list...

    1899-50C-PCGS-VF35.jpg

This 1899-O VF 25 was one grade level below another coin I already owned:

    Here's the 1899-O in VF 30 I already had:

Once again, this coin, PCGS 20, has already been upgraded.

    Here's the upgrade: PCGS 50:

The 1900-O in PCGS 25 is also being upgraded:

There's no current image of the upgrade PCGS 40.

The 1900-S in PCGS in XF 45 was upgraded when my 1st Tier set was

upgraded from an AU 55 to an AU 58. The AU 55 slipped into the 2nd tier set.

  8. ...1898...

This coin has already been replaced with a raw coin I had in my Dansco

album [ no image, sorry ] which was submitted in January and it was

returned in an XF 45 holder.

  9. Thanks, Dean. It should look great with the other 1921's in that date set.

I was able to win three of the five lots I bid on at tonight's Bowers

    and Merena auction.

    One is a Barber dime [ no surprise there, huh ? ] - a really nice 1898-O

in a PCGS 64 holder...I'll be posting that coin on the Barber Thread.

I also won a beautiful 1891 Indian Head Cent for my Proof Set...

    PCGS PR 65 RB...

Also won this great toned 1889 Dime for my Grandfather's Birthyear MS set:

    PCGS MS 65:

    1889DimePCGS65OBV-1.jpg1889DimePCGS65REV-1.jpg

This is an upgrade for my MS 64 - which is a nice coin - just too white.

  10.

    1895...

    1895-50C-PCGS-VF25.jpg1895O-50C-PCGS-VF30.jpg1895S-50C-PCGS-VF25.jpg

These three coins [ as well as all the others in a similar photo montage ]

came from the Red Stick Collection out of Baton Rouge, LA; I have upgraded the O & S coins with these :

I had this coin prior to purchasing the Red Stick collection:

    1895-OHalfPCGS40obv.jpg1895-OHalfPCGS40rev.jpg

I upgraded my better set and this AU 55 was moved into my 2nd Tier set:

    1895-SHalfPCGS55dual.jpg

  11.

Last year I sold off this coin - which had been in my raw book for

over a dozen years - and it was deemed to be cleaned - or some such

term - Altered Surfaces - what ever - I bought it raw as an AU 58

and it had a great strike - but I wanted a Graded Coin for my Mom's

    Birthyear set...

I also won a nice Barber Quarter - but posted it on the Barber Thread.

  12.

Lance - You bet that image counts !!

Great image too !! I have never seen

one in person - but would like to get one.

    ---------------------------------------------------------

I left off my new images with the four Dimes...

    Here are a few more:

    1895-SHalfPCGS55dual.jpg

Here's a Half that has been in my collection for 51 years !!

It was pulled out of circulation by my Grandfather back in

the mid 1930's. He liked it well enough to save - and 50c back

then was alot of money, especially with three kids to feed.

I have cherished this coin and have taken very good care

of it ... but...PCGS deemed it to have Altered Surfaces.

    Go figure...1892-PHalfPCGSAUGrandpascoin.jpg

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Here's a newp:

    1913-P Quarter - PCGS 65 - I will have this coin reimaged...

    1905-ODimeMicroOPCGS58dual.jpg1905-ODimeMicroOPCGS58DualCloseUp.jpg

    I didn't have any images of these key dates - or the images were terrible;

and these four dimes are the Key Dates of the series.

I have a bulk submission of Barber Dimes - straight out of my Dansco :

    1892-Pto1906-DDimesOBV.jpg

    1906-Oto1916-SDimesOBV.jpg

and once they're back from the grading room, ATS, they'll be imaged as well.

Plus the complete certified set of Dimes...so...stay tuned...there'll be an additional 170 Dimes posted soon.
