While looking over their [JJ Teaparty] newps, I ran across this

1907-O in PCGS 53 - which they are holding for

me to pick up at the ANA. [ Sorry for the small images

    - Photobucket shrinks the size somehow - and the

normal size I borrowed from JJ Teaparty is just a

bit too large to attach here - sorry to say...]

EDIT/ Update on the 1907-O Half in AU 53:

I picked up the newp 07-O Half at the "Castle" ANA pre-show from Liz & Gail

and after a few seconds of inspecting it I noticed that the die had been tooled

under the right facing wing of the Eagle. The Denticles were also reingraved

along the bottom of the reverse. The Die had been buckled and cracked and

the coin looks struck in three parts. Very interesting coin.

This coin was part of my show and tell at the BCCS Meeting on Saturday

morning and noted author and coin authenticator, Michael Fey, was more

than interested in this coin. He plans on writing an article about it - and I

have had Todd Pollock of BluCCphotos take numerous images of the coin.

    [ Which I will post later ] .

I only have a couple of newps - an upgrade for my Dime set

[ 1895-S in PCGS 64 ] which is very vividly toned - and my

friend and co-worker Glenn Holsonbake of Holsonbake

Numismatics insisted I buy. Todd took images of it and

I'll post them later as well.

The other newp was basically a swap - my 1901-S Half in PCGS 63 for

another - also in a PCGS 63 holder. The newp is beautifully rim toned

and the centrals are a creamy-silvery white [ vs: my old 01-S which

was blast white and was once in a PCGS 62 holder and had some

disturbing facial chatter ]. I sent the newp 01-S into PCGS Secure Plus

[ along with the rest of my MS Halves.]

Images of all my Barber Halves in AU were finally accomplished by Todd

@ BluCCphotos. Once I receive the Secure Plus submissions back from

PCGS, I'll have Todd image those [ again ] as well.

    To be continued...

  2. Just received my grades for my "5 Free Early Bird" Voucher

when I signed up with NGC - and the results are in - but not the

images I requested. I get to pick these five Dimes up in Boston

in two weeks at the ANA.

    1898-S - XF 45 :o

The 1898-S is an AU 55-58 coin any day of the week.

I'll post the images once I get them.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the meantime, I received an email this

evening from my friend RLD15 asking me

my opinion about a certain Barber Half at

JJ Teaparty - when I went onto their site -

the coin was already removed. I guess nice

    material sells fast.

  3.

    David -

I'm waiting for my friend Joe W. [ "Beancounter" ]

to pick up the slack... he's investing alot of time in

setting up a nice semi-professional photo studio

    just for his coins.

Once Joe gets going, I'll sit back and enjoy the view

myself. BTW - All of my Halves will be imaged by the

end of the year; I'm taking the MS Halves to the Boston

ANA show - and Todd Pollock will image them.

In the meantime, another batch of Quarters will go to

    John B. [ "Messydesk" ] for imaging.

    Best regards,

    Mike

  4. 45

John - that was what I thought it would come back as.

It crossed "Grade for Grade" - it was in an old ANACS Cachet.

    1906-DHalfANACSAU50OBVcachet.jpg

    Now - I also submitted this NGC 55 - sorry the images are terrible;

this 1895-P has dazzling luster and lovely rim toning. Wanna guess

what ATS graded it ? Keep in mind what the 06-D graded ...

  5. Here are the last two missing images for my

    Quarter Collection.

The 1914-S was imaged by John Baumgart [ Messy Desk ]

The 1915-S was imaged by Broadstruck

The above are photobucket images - which somehow get reduced

once I've added them into my albums. Don't know why either.

Here's the larger image of the 1914-S [ NGC max size ] but the

1915-S image is much too large to post however.

  6. Here's another SLQ I picked up at FUN last weekend

    - this came from Angel Dee's - and Andy and Alynne

were nice to talk to and very pleasant. They kept apologising

for not having images on their web site - but - I certainly did

like everything they had on display.

I spotted this beauty for my 1917 Mint Set -

  7. Nice 38-D buffalo nickel. I've bought two 38-D nickels this past year myself; a PCGS and a NGC. I like them too even though they are common.

Bought this 57-S double eagle this week.

    Sweet Double Eagle !!

Here's a Peace Dollar from my Mom's Birthyear which I picked up at FUN yesterday...

  8.

Up in Orlando and looking forward to FUN in the morning.

Its not as bad a drive as I remembered - only 3 1/2 Hrs.

Here's a couple of new images from my Quarter Collection:

I picked up the 96-O from Irv Reichel a few years ago - he

used to have a Registry set here. The 1898-S in PCGS 53

was a raw coin from Karen Johnson of L&C Coins in Calif.

    and I submitted it to ANACS and it came back as a 53;

it crossed at PCGS. I feel its a 55, just my opinion.

The 1899-O - is something I picked up one and a half years ago

at Winter FUN from Sarasota Rare Coin in Florida. The coin has

far more luster than this image.

    Comments welcome...

  9. I just received the images for 20 coins recently submitted to

Messydesk [ ATS ] - don't know if he posts here or not -

I just edited the 1892-S and 1893-P Quarters' images with

the Certificate inserts above the coins' images.

Here are two more coins that I did not have any images of at all:

    1895-P - I purchased raw from JJ Teaparty in October 1998 -

and sent it [as well as most of my raw Quarters ] to ANACS -

[ just to make sure they would - certify - or not - before I

submitted them to a major TPG Service] . ANACS and PCGS

agreed with Liz & Gail - its an AU 58

    1895-PQuarterPCGSAU58withCertificat.jpg

Here's the 1895-O - which I purchased from Bowers and Merena

back in December, 1998 - also the same senario - to ANACS for

a 58 - crossed to PCGS and received the same grade.

    1895-OQuarterPCGSAU58withCertificat.jpg

    Okay - I've played long enough -

I have a 5 hour drive ahead of me

to get to Orlando for the FUN show.

    Happy Hunting everyone.
