Patience is harder to preach when two separate things are threatening to “take you to room temperature”, but I press on, and take the drugs, and wear the mask, and get the jab the instant they say I can. I am waiting for the 2020 W’s to “calm down some”.

Yup, patience is required, as in many things in this hobby. Rushing is never good.

67’s are tough to justify anywhere. Some designs are even tougher than the rest.

For proofs, I only care about 70’s and some 69’s. For “circ versions”, it’s 66 and up, depending on the year. For W quarters, and non-proof S quarters, it’s also 66 and up.

What. No 66’s and up? I’m out. I think you’re going to achieve huge disappointment.

Amazing, true, but not all that unusual any more. Getting coins graded is being treated lately as a rite of passage, equivalent to getting your first non-Velcro shoes or your first pair of big-boy pants. Now you can argue all you want that my analogies are rude, but they also happen to be true.

Yup, last Thanksgiving Day I took the LIRR to the Kennedy Airport connector to get to Gatwick in England. Departed from Penn Station after arriving from Harrisburg by Amtrak. Paper ticket from a vending machine at Penn Station.

I will take an educated guess where your 152 cases are, Alex. Many, if not most, of them are probably residents of group living situations whose last known PREVIOUS address was in your county. What kind? Glad you asked. It could be nursing homes, personal care homes, even prisons. So don't necessarily go hunting door to door. They're not there.

Lots of that flying around in the U.K. "If you have to ask, don't order it."

Great idea. Most have never picked up even a Whitman Red Book, sadly. That should be the entry ticket, assuming we’re talking U.S. coins.

And literally greater than 99.9% of the time, that answer is “no”. Truly, if you even have to ask, the answer is almost always “no”. There is a cost to doing it. Is there a benefit? Maybe yes, maybe no, but for nearly all beginner cases, the cost vastly outweighs the benefit. It should never be a goal per se.

I want everyone to know that I did sit in on several preliminary meetings of ICTA, the Industry Council for Tangible Assets, where stable ongoing leadership was being chosen and developed. I was invited by a now-former Executive Director. I frankly do NOT share much of ICTA’s ideology, but I was asked to provide a very specific service to that E.D. while Governor Wolf’s first draft budget called for sales tax on ALL coins and bullion. Had that happened, all ANA shows in Pennsylvania were going to be instantly canceled, and preventing that was my own private mission.

This “working for people with whom I disagree” comes naturally to me. It’s called “being a professional”, no less than an attorney representing a client. During much of the last 12 and a half years, I have written and sent out NUMEROUS documents I felt were total BS. My boss wanted them and I supplied them. It’s what people in government often do, or once did. Nowadays, ideological purity is becoming more valued than competence. So I chose to retire to a geographic place AND an ideological metaphorical “place” more in line with my core beliefs. And I can fight the fights I believe in. Can hardly wait.
I have been driving the “snowflakes” I’ve worked with and around absolutely NUTS for quite a few years now. I ran AGAINST my retiring boss in 1992. He admired my work so much he hired me. He and I are now lifelong fast friends and he is welcome in my new home any time. He is retiring after 44 years in the legislature, the final 12.5 of which, I’ve been a trusted advisor. Together, we made an awesome centrist team, something now sadly out of fashion.
Oh, he carries a S&W .38 Special 24/7 too. “...Lemme tell ya, them guys ain’t dumb...” He knows what his district is like.

I don’t find it ironic at all. What I find ironic is the lack of the use of libraries.

Pretty sure there is no point, as usual. It's in the spirit of the thread - a nothing question answered by a nothing answer. "Like in kind." Does not the "same old, same old" get under your skin a little? And if not, why not?

You live where and how you want, and I’ll live where and how I want, okay? Just because I have to pass through 324 miles of your state to get to my new home doesn’t mean I care to live like a resident there. I’m officially an Alabaman now, for better or for worse. The beard may become “re-enactor fodder” with the proper shaping, dontcha think? It’s at least as good as Martin Sheen’s Robert E. Lee one already.

I’ve been a “take no BS (or PC) from anybody” type of person since I was a kid. I’m an Eagles fan. Call it a cultural imperative. You know how Bear Bryant said linebackers had to be “hostile, agile, and mobile”? I was essentially born with the first third of a linebacker. Age has not mellowed me.

Only by several decades of over-reaching interpretation of the 14th, a state of affairs which I expect to reverse course forthwith, with Madame Justice Coney-Barrett on the Court. She makes some of her male colleagues look effeminate, legally.

I believe that an interest in our history as told through our coins, and being a supporter of the ENTIRE Bill of Rights, 9th and 10th included, are inseparable.

Happy Bird Day all. Last year, I was off to Lisbon and then London from JFK. This year, seemingly forever on I-81. Two consecutive Turkey Days sans turkey. I have a “rain check” for later.
