Did anyone see Heritage's preview of the Simpson collection today? I wanted to tune in, but became very involved in cutting a couple trees down which took the good part of the day. If so, how was it?

I'll take a look and modify it - did it in a hurry, which is never good. Quick fix - see if this helps.

Please provide some background on the collection. How did you obtain them? Was it from a true collector? Do you have any documentation? Are they US or Foreign coins? A listing of the coins along with photos would be a good start. If you do not want to go to that trouble - take them to a coin dealer and see what he says. They could be worth something or not.

Good question regarding World coin collectors. I'll have to create another poll because this one does not capture that statistic.

What disparity? Those who use the registry as opposed those who do not? If so, I believe many registry users left after the decision not to allow PCGS coins in the NGC registry. A few are back, but I know others are not. I believe that this skewed the results and it would have reflected at least a 50-50 split if not he majority. Many here do not play in the registeries for many different reasons. Personal preference. I've been considering running the same poll ATS. I believe the results would be different. Especially the dealer/collector question. The ANA and coin club question results might be similar to our poll.

Just Bob advised how to add your sig line using a PC and not a tablet or phone. It works.

Too bad - that would have been a great collectible and I would hope an interesting design.

Interesting results so fa: 1) NGC registry members are catching up to the non-members 45% compared to 55% and gaining ground. 2) about 2/3rds of us are ANA members 3) almost 70% are not affiliated with a club 4) about 2/3rds are not members of another registry as opposed to 1/3rd that are. 5) the vast majority of us are collectors and not a dealer (all, but one so far)

Very good article which leaves me with a couple of questions and a comment. i wonder what evidence PCGS had in the first place to attribute the coin to the Norweb collection? what information did the writer obtain that, because of time restraints, could not be published until a later date? comment regarding grading - we all know there has been grade inflation.

Hopefully back on the right track. Any update? I haven't heard anything. It will be interesting to see if all of the U.S. Sets are migrated or just the active and visible ones.

Interesting history. I've had a few provenances added to coins in my collection and thought it fairly easy to do so - mistakes happen at times and have with two or three of mine. These were corrected quickly and without additional cost. So attempting to confirm a provenance before purchase is a good idea if the provenance is significant and will add to the cost of the coin.

Personally - I can do without some of the back and forth, but on the other hand. I am learning something here from Insider and Kurt. I currently use either a 75 watt incandescent light source or sometimes a 75 watt incandescent in combination with an Ott light. Based upon the discussion here - I may try something a bit different. I also use two 5500k diffused light source for my coin photography - which isn't all that good (skill level) at the moment. Roger has also added some good comment in this thread. Good information. Now if you could only improve my eyesight!

It's just like government social programs - once you start them, even though initially they might be temporary, they never end them. So forget about elimating the ones we have already 🚅🛅 the horse has already left the barn.

I am attempting to confirm (or refute) my suspicions about the members who are active on the forum. I am hoping to draw in some of the infrequent posters to skew the results a bit (and possibly surprise me).

I believe that I took my original setup for coin photography out of Goodman's book. I'll have to go back and check. Either way - good discussion along with some heat and some laughs.

This is what I had been using - until both bulbs blew. Oops - I gotta run, my black market source with the incadesent lights just called. I wonder if they are Chinese knock offs!

That is what I've always heard 75-100 watt incadesent as long as you remain constant.

So without going through the entire thread, what do you believe is the best and what is an adequate light source? I just blew two fairly expensive bulbs - so you may influence me on my next purchase. thanks
