The OP is just making up stuff. He knows the coin is just damaged.
-
It's clear to me that the coin was not struck on copper. The scale is wrong.

I'm not seeing anything that looks like a die break. Nothing that looks like die failure. The weak lettering on the reverse looks like the results from a filled die. I'm seeing lots of dents, scratches and wear from circulation. Part of the rim damage came from being smashed or possibly the blank was punched from the end of the strip. This can create a blank that is not the same thickness across the blank. There is one spot on the rim that could have been caused by someone using the coin as a screwdriver.
It's not possible to be sure what caused some damage but it's still clear that it is just damage. I'm not sure NGC would even slab the coin but I'm sure they will not grade it. If anything the label would just say DAMAGED. It will cost $50 to $60 in fees to answer that.
I would take that same money and go out for a nice steak dinner.

Larry, I know you disagree with me on this, and that’s okay. But there IS A RIGHT WAY AND A WRONG WAY TO DO THIS HOBBY. Actually quite a few of each. I will never pretend there isn’t in order to spare someone’s feelings. I am not wired that way; I never was; and I never will be. Allowing someone to continue to go astray is actually EVIL in its own right.
We don't have a problem, just a different way of teaching. We both get results.

That's not true. There is no reason they would ever do that. Be careful of what you say about our host. We are only guest of this site. The words/terms you have used in this thread tell me you have much to learn about grading. Grading is an art and a science that takes many years to learn.
I have had about a thousand coins graded over the years and use the services as a learning tool. I study the coins that come back different than what I thought they would grade. Most of the time that study teaches me why the coin received the grade it did.

Nice find.

Everyone here needs to get real. The new folks here get treated like trash. They can't ask a simple question without getting stupid answers that put them down. That is not what this site is here for. Stop with the do this and do that . It is insulting and the new folks have said that many times.

Cause I want to, has been my reason many times over the years. We each have different reasons for wanting something in a TPG slab.

I'm happy with the way the services are doing it now. Much better than it was years ago. The slab offers good protection and the label gives you a good idea of what is going on with the coin. A number grade is not needed.

No. It's not a proof.

The Op is only here to play games. The images show enough to know the coins are trash.

I remember it well. The mint said the coin was a thank you for those that bought the gold set each year.
Those that had been collecting the Silver Eagles from the start were really ticked. They had been paying $23 each year but now had to spend $1000 to keep their sets complete. For months CoinWorld was filled with letters to the editor from mad collectors. Many thought the mint would back down and offer just the Silver Eagle to everyone. They didn't and that was just the beginning of the games the mint started playing with collectors.
Below is the mailing that was sent out in 1995.

It's just a damaged coin. Not an error coin.
