  1. That's not true. There is no reason they would ever do that. Be careful of what you say about our host. We are only guest of this site. The words/terms you have used in this thread tell me you have much to learn about grading. Grading is an art and a science that takes many years to learn. I have had about a thousand coins graded over the years and use the services as a learning tool. I study the coins that come back different than what I thought they would grade. Most of the time that study teaches me why the coin received the grade it did.
  2. Everyone here needs to get real. The new folks here get treated like trash. They can't ask a simple question without getting stupid answers that put them down. That is not what this site is here for. Stop with the do this and do that . It is insulting and the new folks have said that many times.
  3. I feel sorry for some of the new collectors that join this site. All the do this and don't do that post, just upset new members. There are better, more friendly ways to teach.
  4. Cause I want to, has been my reason many times over the years. We each have different reasons for wanting something in a TPG slab.
  5. I'm happy with the way the services are doing it now. Much better than it was years ago. The slab offers good protection and the label gives you a good idea of what is going on with the coin. A number grade is not needed.
  6. The Op is only here to play games. The images show enough to know the coins are trash.
  7. I enjoy some coins with nice bold die cracks and have bought a few over the years. Not worth much but I find them fun.
  8. I remember it well. The mint said the coin was a thank you for those that bought the gold set each year. Those that had been collecting the Silver Eagles from the start were really ticked. They had been paying $23 each year but now had to spend $1000 to keep their sets complete. For months CoinWorld was filled with letters to the editor from mad collectors. Many thought the mint would back down and offer just the Silver Eagle to everyone. They didn't and that was just the beginning of the games the mint started playing with collectors. Below is the mailing that was sent out in 1995.
  9. It's just a damaged coin. Not an error coin.
  10. I don't see the 95-W as rare but I feel it is the key date to the series. This is one of those coins that many will always call rare.

  12. Fun coin. Those that bought the proof gold set that year got the Silver Eagle free. Some didn't want the coin and just bought the regular proof gold set. They messed up.
