Just Bob got a reaction from Coinbuf in I was not aware that we are in the middle of a coin shortage
I don't think I will test the congressman's theory. I'm not willing to risk jail over a bag of Cheetos.

Just Bob got a reaction from GBrad in FINALLY...... A true 1972-S DDO!!!
That may be the only way to get decent pictures. If you feel it really has some doubling, I say, "Open it up." And, you could post the pretty blue Jefferson on Ebay as a nicely toned proof. Not sure I would call it "cameo." but you could say it had "frosty devices" or something similar.

Just Bob reacted to Coinbuf in Could this be a new discovery of a Roosevelt dime with a special matte finish ?!?!?!
I just want to know when Quintus is going to propose to Richie, its a beautiful bromance.

Just Bob got a reaction from Adrianz in 1964 John F. Kennedy Half Dollar
The coin itself, a half dollar minted for circulation, but also minted to commemorate the recently deceased president, is common. The holder may not be. It apparently was created to hand out examples of the half, as Coinbuf stated, to customers, etc - in this case, foreign customers. Pretty cool find, in my opinion.
If you would like to do a bit of reading on the Kennedy half, our host's Coin Explorer page is here: CLICK HERE

Just Bob got a reaction from kbbpll in 1982 d small date penny
That is not true. I have been looking for a 1993D Roosevelt dime with a Special Matte Finish. None have ever been found, but I hope to be the first, and I intend to sell it for a huge profit - after posting it on here and talking incessantly about it, of course. It has been my lifelong dream to be the discoverer of this coin.
Oh, wait - someone beat me to it.
Never mind.

I've been too active lately in auctions. I'm one token over the line. (Sweet Jesus.)

Just Bob reacted to Coinbuf in 1950 error penny
Given the condition of the coin it would be impossible to differentiate between wear and tear and any die deterioration that might have been present at the time the coin was struck. Most if not all you see can be attributed to a long and hard life in service, rest easy Abe you have worked hard.

Just Bob got a reaction from charlesrogers88 in Roosevelt dime damage
Welcome to the forum. Nice job on the pictures. Looks like got hold of your coin with some wire cutters, or something similar. Not mint made damage.

Just Bob got a reaction from Gabrielle BG in NCS Submission Questions
The dealer can give an opinion on the grade, but if you want them encapsulated by NGC, the answer is, "no." The dealer does not encapsulate them, but sends them to NGC to be certified. You can also submit them yourself, by becoming an ANA member, or a paid member of the Collectors Society.

Just Bob reacted to James_OldeTowne in Toned morgans
It doesn't specifically matter how the toning got there. What decides whether it's deemed "artificial" or not is just simply how it looks to a professional eye.
There has been gallons of internet ink spilled on the argument of what is "market acceptable" and in reality, that's the only thing that matters.

Just Bob got a reaction from Kay! in 1911 Barber Dime - opinion on condition?
I think I see enough definition in the leaves to call this one XF. It has some circulation "dings," but it is a nice looking coin.

Just Bob got a reaction from Fenntucky Mike in It's Token Tuesday! Post 'em if you got 'em.
Encompassing 17,000 acres, King and Anderson plantation was said to be the largest family owned plantation in Mississippi.
The tokens were used at the company store, which is the first building pictured.
There are two varieties of both the one dollar and the fifty cent tokens. (Sorry about switching the position of obverse/reverse on one of the pictures) Both the obverse and reverse are different on the two $1.00 tokens, but only the obverse is different on the $.50 (note the die chip on the left of the "0" on both reverses.)
The set contains a one cent token, which is not common, since they usually cost more than one cent apiece to purchase
There was also a $3.50 punch card issued, but I have only seen pictures of one.
