Only one new purchase though.
Hi everybody,
Just wanted to share the few coins that I have added to may collection.
2005 Marines MS 70
2010 Boy Scouts PF 70UC & MS 70
They Boys Scouts I got from the Mint some time back and had them recently graded by NGC. It was a lightning fast turnaround time with that submission. From the day I mailed the coins and had them back in hand was under 3 weeks...AWESOME!!
I haven't been looking to purchase anything in the last few weeks. Then I deci
and I am very happy with the grades.
This last submission is by and far the fastest turnaround I have ever witnessed from NGC. I sent out 10 Boy Scouts comms on Wednesday, July 14th and the USPS showed delivery to NGC on Friday the 16th. NGC listed the coins as "received" on Monday the 19th. I then received NGC's e-mail stating that my coins are in the mail back to me on Thursday the 22nd!! From the time I put the coins in the mail to NGC returning them back was only 9 days! It is probably goi
5 more coins are now home.
Hi everyone,
Just a little note on a few coins that I added over the last couple weeks.
1992 Olympics 50c MS70
1995 Olympics Basketball 50c MS70
2006 San Francisco Old Mint Silver $1 MS70
2006 Ben Franklin Scientist Silver $1 MS70
2009 Abraham Lincoln Silver $1 MS70
There are some good prices on the more recent comms to be had out there. Except for the the Lincolns...they are running for about $100 plus. Took me quite awhile to get one off of Ebay. They
Nice coins on the way!
As people who read my posts and look at my collections know, I am a huge fan of the modern commemorative coins. I like the range and scope of subjects they honor each year and I look foward to the designs that are choosen. Some are incredible winners like the 2001 Buffalo Silver $1 which seemed to sell out over night. Then you get the other extreme like the 2008 50c Bald Eagle/Chicken coin that could win the ugliest coin contest in my opinion.
Anyway what I am getting
Added some very nice commemoratives!
Hi everybody,
I just wanted to update everybody on my new purchases over the last few weeks.
1986 Statue of Liberty 50c MS69
2006 Ben Franklin Founding Father MS70
2007 Little Rock MS70
2010 Disabled Veterans MS70
2010 Disabled Veterans PF70UC
The Statue of Liberty I purchased raw and I thought it had a good chance at a 70 but it was not to be. My Disabled Veterans though did very well. 4 out 5 of the MS came back 70 and 3 of 4 of the Proofs c
In full agreement with Jackson!
He pretty much hit the nail on the head with regards to Ebay. I have no way near as much action on Ebay as he does...for me under 300 transactions...but I do just about everything he describes. I have bought and sold all sorts of things like cars, household items, computer items, and coins with only a couple less then positive experiences. There are some problems with Ebay and Paypal but nothing that would stop me from using them.
I can't speak for the older
One of the best to ever come from the US Mint.
Hi everyone,
What an awesome day today is! I finally have my 2006 Reverse Proof SAE in a PF70 grade. I have been looking to upgrade my PF69 for over a year but it seemed that every time I had the spare change, I went and bought a few other coins instead. But with a bit of OT this month I went out and got this beauty!!
That gives me 2 out of 3 of the 20th Anniversary SAEs that I have at the 70 grade. All I need is the MS to complete one of the
A very good month!!
Hello Everybody,
I just wanted to update everyone on what went on with my collection this month. One of the first things I did was split my modern commemorative set into 2 seperate sets. One is Proof and MS half dollars and the other is Proof and MS Silver Dollars.
This month I purchased raw the 1986 50c Statue of Liberty and the 1982 50c Washington commemoratives. I have had some luck getting the 70s grade for 50c comms in the past. So when I get a few more I will send
and changed one of my sets
Hi everybody
On my last journal entry I mentioned about starting to collect modern comms in MS. Well, I backed up that statement with a small purchase and I received it this morning in the mail. One very nice 2008 Bald Eagle 50c. I didn't expect it this quickly...quite the surprise seeing the package in the mailbox today.
This also the first time that I couldn't register a coin because the previous owner has not released/removed it from their registry. The CC st

Hi everyone
Just wanted to share an early present that I picked up for myself. I have been slowly upgrading some of my Proof SAEs and this 2001 is my latest addition. I was going to purchase the reverse proof but I saw this one and changed my mind. Once I get the reverse proof, I will have SAEs in PF-70 from 1999 till now.
At the same time I was also checking out the US Mint web site and looked at their "last chance" offers and decided to pick up 5 of the
First coin purchase since June
Hello everyone.
Just wanted to share my latest coin purchase with all the collectors out there. For your viewing pleasure is a 1994 SAE PF69-UC.
Since I haven't purchased anything in a while, I did find myself tracking this coin 2 to 3 times a day through the mail till it got here. It felt like I was starting up my collection for the first time again. It did feel good. But I was at the station when it arrived and I had to wait till I got home the next day to
and it's has been quite some time!
Hello everybody...It has been awhile since I have posted here but I am still coming by to read the journals and chat boards. I think my last post was in June and that also was the last time I purchased a coin!
But I did make a purchase of some copper and brass a couple weeks ago. It wasn't a coin but an antique copper and brass chemical fire extingusher. I found this in an antique store in Virginia City when the family went to check out the camel races. I h
And a great computer program to track my coins.
Once again just a very little movement with my coins this month. I only purchased one coin in June....I upgraded my 2003 SAE from a PF-69 to a PF-70. The 70s seem to more affordable now for the MS and Proof SAEs and also for the Modern Comms.
In the last few months most of the spare money has been going to small improvements to the inside of our house which has been keeping me busy. Lots of painting, crown moulding, chair rails, and window cov
My jaw just hit the friggin floor!!!
Why would you crack out a PF70 and resubmit?
With my limited grading skills I think I could notice the difference between a PF70 and a PF63.
What were you hoping for?
What coin was it?
Did you have this coin graded originally or did you buy it already slabbed PF70? If you bought it slabbed and it looked not even close to a PF70...a mistake in the grade...why even buy it?
If you were crossing it over why take the chance with a new grade...just buy
Here is what went on with my collection in May
Hi everyone...just a little note on what's new with my coins. May is another month where I didn't make a purchase to increase my collection. But I did have some positve movement though! I got some coins back from NGC....the Braille and Lincoln proofs that received 70s were added to my modern comm collection along with an 1988 Olympics that got a 69.
The other Braille and Lincoln that received 69s were sold on Ebay along with my 2003 SAE PF-69UC
Brailles and Lincolns are back.
It took NGC a bit longer to get my coins back home but they are finally here. They sat in "received" for over a week and then took a bit longer to arrive in the mail. "Registered mail" is quite safe but VERY SLOW. The tracking never shows anything but "processed" and then "delivered".
Anyways...the coins are awesome! These are the first "edge view" holders for me and the big coins look great in them. I got one Braille PF70UC and one Lincoln PF70UC and one more
Very Happy!
1988 S OLYMPICS S$1 PF69UC
2009 P LINCOLN BICENTENNIAL S$1 PF69UC
2009 P LINCOLN BICENTENNIAL S$1 PF70UC
2009 P LOUIS BRAILLE S$1 PF69UC
2009 P LOUIS BRAILLE S$1 PF70UC
These coins are on the way back home today. I guessed right on the grades for the Olympic and for the Lincolns but I thought both Brailles were 70s. I will take a closer look at the one that got a 69 and see if I can find out why. But still very happy with the returns!
Good luck to everyon
Here is what I acquired in April
I have been slowly adding to my proof SAE this year trying to finish them up. In April I was able to add 2 more to my collection. A 1997 and a 1995 SAE. I wish the 95 was the "W" but alas it had to be the "P". It leaves me only the 1994 and the 1995 W Eagles for a complete set.
I also received my 2 Lincoln and 2 Braille proof commemoratives and they went off to NGC with another comm I had sitting around. To my untrained eye I believe 1 of the Lincolns and bot
One year later!
A year ago April NGC confirmed a major hub variety for the 2008-W Silver Eagle and I have been keeping an eye on them this last year. They created quite a stir for collectors. It ranged from wanting to have the only know variety of the SAE in their collection all the way to other end of the spectrum of "who cares..it's just an over hyped and over priced bullion coin." I am glad I fall into the former! I enjoyed the talk here and on the forum about this SAE. I hope some day to f
Only 3 more to go!
I just received my newest SAE about an hour ago. I was lucky that I was home when the postman rang or I would of had to wait till Saturday...that would have been a bummer!
It's a 1997 SAE PF-69UC that came out of the envelope that I basicly ripped open as soon as I got it in my hands! Adding this coin to my collection now brings me down to just 3 more to go. I need the 1994 and both of the 1995 SAEs to finish it up. But the "W" might take some time to get.
I have really
Just a Silver Eagle
There wasn't too much action going on with my collection this month. The only thing that I bought and received was a 2007 SAE graded MS-70. It was an upgrade for my collection.
I also puchased a couple Abe Lincoln and Louis Braille proof silver dollars. They show "reserved and in stock" from the Mint. I am hoping for them to show up soon. Once I get those, I will send them off with another commemorative to NGC.
I also check every week or so for any info on the Silver Ea
Here is what I added to my collection.
I was able to add a few coins to my collection last month.
1993P SAE PF69UC
2002 W West Point Silver $1 Commemorative PF70UC
2006 S San Francisco Old Mint Silver $1 Commemorative PF70UC
The Silver Eagle was the first proof that I added in awhile. I only need 4 more to finish that collection but I won't be able to complete those SAEs. The 1995 W is way out of my price range!
I upgraded my PF69UC with the 2 commemoratives and it gives me 70's from
Awesome return on a modern commemorative!!
A couple weeks back I submitted some modern commemoratives to NGC and was overjoyed when the 1995 Civil War clad 50c received a PF-70UC grade! I just got them back the other day and can't keep this coin out of my hands. I find myself looking at it a couple times a day since they came home.
I looked up the census report for this coin and shows a about 1100 have been graded by NGC and only 56 have made the 70 grade! This is the 2nd out of 6 50c commem
It's just a marketing ploy.
It sure sounds like everyone is quite excited about the UHR eagles. It has been quite enjoyable reading the entries here and on the chat boards about these coins. It's great to know that there is such a huge interest in them.
That being said...I must also add a few tid bits about the "EARLY RELEASE" program from NGC. I hate to burst anyones bubble but it is just a marketing ploy. The US Mint does not release/sell coins earlier then the date specified on their web
Here is what I got in January.
After taking a few months off buying for my collection, I jumped right back into the mix in January. I did some upgrading with my Eagles and modern commemoratives and added a few new coins.
Here are the ones I upgraded from PF and MS 69s.
2008 W SAE MS-70
2008 SAE MS-70
2008 Bald Eagle Silver $1 Commemorative PF-70UC
2008 Bald Eagle Clad 50c Commemorative PF-70UC
And here are the new coins in my collection.
