1976-D TYPE 1 & 1976 TYPE 2 IKE DOLLARS

Might be my deal of a lifetime The one valued at $5600 I am getting for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th First Spouse Coins based on there melt value. None of them are graded, I paid $410.00 each for the first two and $509.00 for the other. ($1309). I might get the one valued at $4400 for 3 graded coins, 1 PF69UC $50 10th Anniversary Platinum, 1 PF70UC $25 GOLD EAGLE & 1 PF70UC $10 GOLD EAGLE, I probaly have around $1200 invested in them. Is that a deal or not? Good luck in your collecting adventures

My first Heritage Auction

MS68 1999-D Susan B. Anthony I was lucky enough to win the auction on Sunday at $120.00 or a total of $146 with fees and shipping. This will get my set up to #8 in the Registry. Not sure if I will get any higher than that, am working on some upgrades in my "Ike" set. Someday I might just get a camera to put some pics on here......Have a great day and enjoy your coin collecting adventures. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. A Penny For Your Thoughts

What happens when they're gone? Someday the penny will be discontinued. How do you think this will happen? Does the mint or some agency give a time period to trade them in? Do they make them no longer legal to own? They lost money making them, will they want them back to recoup some of the loss? What happens to there collectable value when you can't get your hands on them? What do they do with billions of coins that no longer have a purpose? Should you start collecting the "higher" grades? Early Release

For the future of the hobby, PLEASE do away with this "price inflating" label. How can you justify any significance to the collecting hobby with this label? Why are coins that are made for 10 weeks out of the year (ATB quarters) even considered for this? Is it not illegal to deny a coin in a mint sealed shipment with documentation to prove the release date from qualifying? I for 1 am waiting for the day when someone with a little cash files a lawsuit to end this money making practice. You are

1913 Indian Head $2.50

Mom won it 40 years ago. Sent it to NGC today, it has been in a holder for the last 40 yrs. finally opened it the other day. Still had some luster and didn't show any signs of wear.I compared it to some pictures of some enlarged coins and it seemed like even the smallest of details were visible. I don't have any guess on the grade, if I luck out and get a "66", it's a $30,000 coin, there's only a pop of 1. I paid the $60 for the express service, Mom said she probaly didn't spend more than $5 o

Points

Should not be assigned for at least 3-5 yrs. for any coin. Why should a coin freshly minted be assigned any point value until you have some idea of it's rarity AND relevance to the coin collecting hobby? Also there should be a system that shows the "total" population of every single coin, not just the NGC coins. If PCGS coins are allowed in the Registry Sets then I should be able to know how many of them exist for any given grade. Should the "rarity" of the coin be based on NGC totals, or shou

Bought my first "dozen"...

Eisenhowers'...But a little rant first. It seems like everything that comes out of the mint at the present time needs some type of 'special label', comes in a 'limited quanity', or just costs too d*mn much money. Look at the ATB frisbees coming out again. Funny how the mint didn't have any silver back when it was $20 an ounce, they will probaly sell 50 million ASE this year now that its $40+. So I decided to slowly sell my "extra" coins that are not in a slab. So far I have sold enough that I

FINISHED

Bought the last three over the weekend... Well my SUSAN B'S are complete. Had to buy all the "S" mints in 66, but hopefully they will all be here by this weekend. Got done sooner than expected, only (overpaid) for one coin, the 81S, the guy wouldn't budge on his price. He's the one that wants $4200 for the MS67. I'll probaly take a break for the rest of the month, pay my taxes, and if that doesn't put me in the poor house I'll have to start something for me this time!! Good luck to everyone in

SUSAN B. ANTHONY'S UPDATE

3 MORE TO GO Well, I've been busy on ebay the last 10 days. I'm down to needing the 79P NR; the 79S; and the 81S. Bought the 80S in MS66, was the only one I saw on there. I'm up to 17th place in the registry, might be able to crack the top 10. As for getting any higher than that, not gonna happen. Some of the coins in MS68 only show a total population of 1...... SUSAN B. ANTHONY'S

Started a Registry Set I know that not to many people collect these, so I thought I would try to build a set with no grade lower than MS67. Who knows in 25 yrs. what they might be worth, gonna give them to my son(who is 28) and tell him no matter what he has to keep them at least 25 yrs. Started on the 21st of this month, so far I have the 79P Wide Rim,79D, 80P, 80D, 81P,99D and also got one of the 99P MS66PL(there's only 2). Hoping to have 10 of them by the end of March. Good luck to everyone

20th Anniversary Sets

My Gold Got tired of looking at a box I couldn't open, it's been almost 4 and a half years. Everyday was like the night before Christmas, only the next morning I still couldn't open my present!!! Almost traded the sealed box plus 2 sealed boxes of 2007 Gold Eagles 4-COIN PROOF SETS for a 1995W P70. Only time will tell if I made the right or wrong decision, in about a week I will know the grades for the 11 coins. Got my fingers crossed, hope to get a few 70's. Good grading luck to everybody!!!

BLUE LABEL SILVER EAGLE? Does anyone think the market for the MS70 BLUE LABELS will continue to go higher or will the price eventually come down. Right now they are listed as the same value as the BLACK LABEL in MS70. I have seen them on e-bay for 1200-1400, while the Black labels are still 600-700.
