The killer new postal rates......

9 posts in this topic

Oh boy, these new rates are going to kill me.

My most common mailing, a small bubble envelope weighing less than an ounce, insured for 50.00. This used to cost 1.87. I sent one off yesterday and now it's 2.78.

People cry about the 2 cent first class increase. That's not where the problem is....

Yea, the news said that the new rates would effect everything in a different way now. Not only by weight, but envelopes and packages will be charged by size also.. I bet we'll start seeing some higher s&h charges on ebay also. (for those who bay alot)

Still cheap ... I have always added it into the cost of shipping and I do not think I will have to change my pricing much from what it was.

Obviously I don't agree. I never have a problem with a first class letter rate, up a whopping 2 cents. The other rates are amazing. Wait till you send a 2 pound priority package from the East coast to zone 8......regardless of who is paying for it.

Wait until you see the rate increases for international shipping. The rates have practically doubled! Registered mail went up over 25% for international shipments.

Some rates did go down. Express Mail Insurance dropped significantly.

Most of coins I ship go via Registered Mail. Before the postage rates I could figure on $12 to $14 with insurance. I'm not sure what it will be now, but when I change my customers for postage, all they need do is look at the amount I paid to ship it. If you want to complain take it up with the government. I've got no control over it. confused-smiley-013.gif
